With all of the new Hytes and wedding plans, it was hard to find somewhere in the building that was quiet. Everyone had something to do; there were fittings, playdates and color schemes. But Ekene was a little lost in what he should be doing. He’d seen a glimpse of the new hytes and their owners but hadn’t really spoken to any of them quite yet. They were all mostly very fluffy and cute, but he wasn’t quite sure what to say besides what had been said already. Then the wedding, all he had been told to do so far was to get his tux fitted, which he had then be ready to be in the wedding party. All the hustle and bustle made his little spiraffe mind spin, so he thought wise to grab a few books and find somewhere to well, hide.
Sitting in one of the furthest sitting rooms, Ekene sat reading a book of collective poems he had found in the library. Poems were his secret fancy; the flow of words tantalized his senses almost as much as a new piercing. Picking up the bottle of juice he had brought with him, he sipped it and sighed a little.

Xin Yue too, had felt a bit out of the shuffle. While she was excited for all of the "hooking up", the wedding and the new Hytes, for her it was quite easy to get lost and confused.
And as of the moment, lost was promptly where she was currently at.
It had been awhile since she had wandered the halls of HyTech (the last time being a scamper for crayons when she was but a child) and as such, she had only a slight familiarity with the rooms and locations she was passing. The "click" of her heels lead her down a hallway and back some side-passages before locating what looked to be a library of some sort. She peered in as she covered her eyes from the brighter light and looked around, curious as to who or what might be inside.

An earring filled ear flicked at the sound of heels clicking, eyes looking towards the doorway when they seemed to stop. He blinked and adjusted his glasses and took in the sight of the sweet Xin Yue. Ekene waved to her from his fortress of books, happy to see her for sure. “Good afternoon Miss Yue” The spiraffe said politely, motioning for her to come in and join him. He had always found himself quite tongue tied when trying to talk to her. When he was a teenager he had been full of piss and vinegar and had no problems with talking to pretty women but now as an adult, he felt a little lacking.
“I hope your afternoon is going well?” Ekene smiled and closed his book, setting it on his knee.

Xin Yue heard the pleasant voice of Ekene and stepped into the room with a smile. "Well, hello there Ekene! Are you hiding among the mountains of books in the library today?" she inquired with a grin, sitting down on the floor next to him. Books had always been a focus for her friend Gyasi and it was nice to see at least one of their offspring taking up the same study of books as he did.
"Yes, my afternoon is going quite well today. The whole of HyTech seems out and about, planning for the wedding. I assume your fathers are doing the same thing as well." She put a hand to her lips in thought.
"I guess it's nice to see that at least someone else is able to stay grounded through it all. Although, I can imagine that you're excited for them as well!"

Chuckling a little, he parted the mountain a little so he could see Xin Yue a little better. She was always an absolute delight to talk too, very kind, soft spoken and smart. “Hiding is one way of putting it” Ekene grinned a little and itched his eyebrow a little. “I’m also trying to keep out of the way, I’m a little useless when it comes to planning extravagant events” he rubbed his neck a little shyly and smiled all the while.
“We’re all very excited for them, Amara is right into it and Saleem I haven’t seen him but he’s probably excited’ He laughed a little and flicked an ear in thought. “Their both thinking over Vows and whether or not to write their own….my dad is very nervous about it if they do” Ekene smiled an placed his book back on the stack to his right.
“I heard you are also part of the wedding party? Have you found out what you’re to wear yet?”

Xin Yue looked through the mountain of books and laughed lightly at the sight of the adult spiraffe in between all of them. "I'm not laughing at you, of course...but that does sound like a wonderful idea, hiding from the planning. And yes, everyone does seem to be darting about, getting ready for the big event next month."
She smiled and nodded at the suggestion of her dress. "Yes, actually I found a catalogue with some beautiful dresses in it and found a simple dress to wear. I don't want to take away from the bride and groomsmens happy day! Though...it will be wonderful, I'm sure. It's a special day for me as well!"
"And what about yourself? Have you been able to help out your dads and help them find the things that they need?"

Smiling a little at her laugh, Ekene relaxed more and tried to keep his hoof from knocking over a dangerously close mountain of paperbacks. “I’m trying to keep a low profile…” He grinned a little then rested his arms on his knees for a moment.
Listening to her as she talked about her dress, he smiled and nodded a little. “Well I’m sure no matter what you pick to wear will look lovely on you, it’s the person who makes the dress, not the dress who makes the person” Ekene gave her a gentle smile. “It’s a big day for everyone, the first Hytech wedding… hopefully there will be many to follow”
“Me? Well… I got fitted for my Tux.. but other then that.. Miss Chrystali seems to have everything under control…my Dad (Isoke) is a little overwhelmed but excited”

Xin Yue smiled, thinking about everything that had happened within the last year. "It really has been almost a year since I began to meet everyone. A year...." She frowned for a moment, before gasping. "Wow....the wedding...I think, well...it'll be near my actual birthday! It really has been a year, hasn't it!"
"As for the dress though, I just wanted something simple really. Mena gets to have the awesomely cool dress and I can't wait to see everyone else's dresses as well. And you guys will have cool tuxs too, I'm sure."
The Rat smiled, hearing of Isoke's perils. "I'm sure your dads will be alright. They've got some awesome helpers and this wedding will turn out great, I know it!"

“Your birthday?” Ekene blinked softly, seeming a little surprised for a moment. If her birthday was coming he would surely have to remember it for sure. “Well I’ll have to remember when your birthday is for sure! Birthdays are important!” He grinned a little and plotted. He faintly wondered if he gave her a poem or a poetry book of some kind if she’d like it. The spiraffe knew he would really have to think about this as he really wanted to give her something really nice.
“Ah? It’ll be nice to see how everyone will look… and get to see all the other hytes that I haven’t met yet!” Ekene smiled and shifted his legs a little. “My Dad will be fine in time… he’ll be a little nervous but once the time comes he’ll be fine” he grinned then chewed his lip for a moment.
“Miss Yue…. At the reception I was hoping I could reserve a dance with you?” he asked, looking over at her gently. He honestly wanted to ask her to accompany him as a date but he wasn’t too sure of himself about that.

Xin smiled and nodded. "Well, I've always been told that Birthdays are important things so, I shall keep it like it is supposed to be, I guess." As he continued to speak about the many Hytes he hadn't yet met, Xin Yue was reminded of the fact that she wanted to meet the new Hytes as well. "Yes, it will be wonderful to meet all of the new Hytes as well! I can't wait to meet the rest of the Japanese Hytes as well as the many new ones that shall be arriving too!"
Then, a new subject came up....something she hadn't guessed outright. "A...dance? You mean, at the reception?" She was fudging a bit, she didn't really know how to dance but he was being quite brave in asking her for a reservation.
"....Yes. You can ask for a dance, of course Ekene. I would be happy to. I may not be very good though...I hope that's okay?"

Nodding about meeting all of the Japanese hytes and all the new ones, Ekene smiled a little. “There are going to be tons of little ones coming around here pretty soon, we’re all going to have to watch our step” He smiled a little and itched his ear a little. His face colored a little when she seemed a little surprised, wondering if he had been a little to forward. Sometimes he said things before thinking them through completely, this would possibly be his downfall.
“Ah, Miss Yue I have hooves for feet so you’ll probably be better at dancing then I will” He grinned playfully at her, “So we can learn to dance together hrmm? It’s all in fun… I highly doubt anyone is much good at dancing here so don’t worry”

Xin Yue laughed at the thought of dancing, as it still was quite a foreign topic for her. "Well, at least you don't have to worry about doing that in high heels!" she exclaimed playfully. And it was true, though the high heels weren't much harder to walk around in after she had gotten used to them.
"Yes, since most of us haven't ever danced before or at all, at least we'll all be learning together. So, maybe it'll turn out to be fun, this learning how to dance."

Laughing softly at the idea of high heels, another reason why he was glad he had hooves for feet and was male. Though he wouldn’t be surprised to see Georgie wear heels however; it was his kind of thing. “Ha that’s right… though I can’t image what heels would be like… they don’t make them to fit hooves” he joked with a laugh. Hooves were easy to walk on since he was born with them, so he didn’t know any different.
“Exactly! I think it will be lots of fun! We all know each other relatively well and all get along generally so I think its going to be great!” Ekene grinned, seeming excited. “I’ve read lots of poems about dancing and its always caught my interest”

Xin smiled, nodding at the idea. "Yeah, most of the other girls are lucky that they don't have to wear them but..." *takes a look at them for a second* ...they are pretty, at least!"
"I'm sure the party and event will be great though. Plus, perhaps we'll see some of our old friends and now that the newest Hytes are kids it'll be a great experience for them as well!" Noting that he seemed excited about his poems, Xin was curious. "So, are you reading a book about poems now then?" she inquired of the spiraffe.

“Like Amara, she’ll never have to wear heels… plus she is already fairly tall” Ekene smiled then nodded to the fact that her heels were pretty. “You always are dressed very beautifully” he added as he picked at a loose thread in the hole of his jeans.
“Ah I hope so! I think my Da is really hoping his child hood valentine will be coming, the goldfish women… Ginmei I think was her name?” He mused softly, “There are quite a few Hytes I don’t know as well so it will be fun!” Ekene’s cheeks colored a little and he nodded, picking up a book off one of the many stacks. “Poems…. Are my secret fascination really… you’re the first person I’ve really told” he smiled a little, flipping the pages of the book in his hands.
