As if running into the giant, green, idiot wasn't bad enough, Mecriana found herself staring again into the abyss of the valley. This definatly wasn't Ryuten. Where had she gotten turned around? You'd think she could have just flown up and tried to spot the direction of the human's home, but that didn't work too well when the person flying couldn't exactly look around long enough and still stay stable up in the air. Yeah, Mec was still having quite a bit of trouble when it came to flying. It was difficult when she had no one to teach her at an early age, and though she was improving, she wasn't quite where she wanted to be.
Stomping a forehoof into the ground the fiery Jala mare spun about to her other side, anxiously looking in the other direction. No, it looked the same as in the other direction, save for a few rocks and trees. "Ugh!" Her ears pinned against the sides of her skull and her tail flicked in irratation. Where was Scabbers when she needed him?! Oh... right. Nevermind. She had told him to go on without her, and she had said it'd be faster if she flew there on her own. Such a thought was disheartening, and the mare relaxed, although futilely so. This was getting her no where. How on earth was she suppose to get to Ryuten if she didn't know in what part of D'ob she was in?

The tall aeri mare lifted her stocky head and blinked her milky, sightless eyes as she flicked an ear. The sound of hoofbeats had reached her ears, but they had stopped and were replaced by a frustrated cry. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly and she cast her head around a bit before shrugging it off and lowering her muzzle once more. The grass was good here in the valley, of course, but she lowered her head too fast and misjudged the distance, receiving a noseful of grass. A powerful sneeze escaped her and she shook her head, glaring in the general direction of the ground. She heard a slight snickering nearby, and she sneered. Ugh, she didn't know why she bothered to put up with him, he never was much help to her.
"There's a young jala mare over there, Mistress," he chimed in his high-pitched, nasally, annoying voice. "Black and white with some blue and red on her," he offered before he flew over to get a closer look. "She's got stripes on her hooves and a braid in her forelock, too, Mistress."
"What do I care?" She snapped, flicking her ears back against her skull. Honestly. Why would she care about the looks of anyone? It wasn't like she could see them, couldn't appreciate their beauty, couldn't shudder at their ugliness - and she liked it better that way. Her only view into the souls of others was solely through her ears and other senses. It was easier to pick out the lies and manipulating natures of others when she was immune to being distracted by looks or a pretty face. Not like she'd be attracted to anyone or anything anymore.
The dusty tan paint snorted irritatedly and raised her head again, giving up on grazing for the time being, and she let her thoughts wander a little to the past.

Hu, what? The sudden snapping voice caught her off guard, and so Mecriana spun around to face the other direction. Things usually didn't frighten Mecriana off, but they DID surprise her when she wasn't paying attention. Which happened fairly often. Flicking her gaze about in that general direction she did happen to spot a monster of a nequus not far off in the distance. How had she overlooked her before? Well perhaps because this was D'ob. Nequus were everywhere, that didn't necissarily mean you noticed them all.
It didn't look like she was talking to anyone... so did that mean the aeri had snapped at her? Mec gave an uncertain glance about her and decided there was no one really close enough to the Aeri. Besides herself, that is. Or maybe she was just talking to herself? That seemed more reasonable, kinda, if you thought talking to oneself was reasonable that is.
Flicking her dark tail out behind her, Mecriana decided she could at least investigate the matter. With a determined bob of her head, the paintaloosa set off at a mild gait toward the large creature, slowing and stopping at a respectable distance. "Were you perhaps talking to me?" Or talking to herself? Somehow she thought it better to keep that little tidbit to herself. For now, that is.

"Oh, ohh, Mistress, she's coming over here!"
The blind Speaker ignored the ghost's unnecessary announcement; she could hear the girl's hoofsteps just find. Could hear her breathing, smell her too. She had an odd scent about her, but that didn't matter. It wasn't blood, and it wasn't anything else inappropriate, so it didn't matter nor need any thought. "No, I wasn't." The gruff Aeri mare replied, blinking her milky white eyes. For a moment, she pondered on merely saying that, and leaving the clueless girl with even more uneasy feelings, but she relented. "I was talking to Betel." There, much better. That ought to show the both of them if she thought she was talking to an imaginary creature or not.
Come to think of it, Betel could be imaginary, couldn't he? A fake ghost conjured up by her deprived and desperate mind so she wouldn't feel so alone. That would account for all the rocks she'd tripped over. No, that was impossible.
She would never have been able to think up such an annoying, whiny voice.

"Oh." Betel? The paintaloosa glanced about her uncertainly, looking for anyone, or rather anything else that could be in the area. There wasn't. Nothing with a name at least. Unless she was talking to rocks or trees. So either the mare really was talking to herself, or she had an invisable friend. Invisable friends were cool, she supposed. Something a foal would do, but a mare as large as this aeri could certain have an invisable friend if she wanted to. It was no skin off her back.
It was then that Mecriana noticed the strange eyes on the aeri mare and raised her brows. She had never seen eyes like that before, had never even heard that a nequus could be blind. Then again Mec was rather young and quite a bit of living to do until she fully understood the world around her. She was really trying her best not to be rude, but the impulse to ask such a question was unbarable. "Are your eyes okay? They look somewhat..." Strange? She really didn't know what to call it.

The large dusty paint mare ignored the shrill, amused laugh of her ghostly companion. Instead of asking about the obviously invisible, either that or imaginary, thing called Betel, she asked about her eyes. This girl was daft, wasn't she? She hadn't met many others with white eyes, unless Betel didn't tell her. In that case, he was even more useless than she'd thought, and she knew he was pretty useless. Most of the time.
"I'm blind," she said bluntly, blinking her sightless eyes once or twice. Should she tell her more? That she was a Speaker, Betel was a ghost who guided her around -- or was supposed to, at any rate, and he did a pretty bad job of it most of the time -- and that she didn't like idiotic little bints like herself? ...nah, let her figure it out on her own.
Now it was her turn for a question. "What's your name, mare?" Let her chew on that one for a bit, see if it irked her. She loved messing with the stupid ones.

Blind? Hum, blind. She'd never met anyone like that before, and she wasn't quite certain what that was. A rather concentrated look furrowed her brows as she thought about it. Scabbers might have said something like that before, but when? The paintaloosa thought, thought again, and thought some more. Finally realization struck her and she let out a rather surprised sound in the back of her throat. "Okay, I get it now." The earlier subject of invisble friends had long been forgotten in her search to remember what 'blind' meant. Luckily Scabbers had told her what that meant long ago.
As for the aeri's next question Mec pricked ears and quickly answered. "Oh! That was rude of me, my name is Mecriana, and you're...?" Hopefully she'd get an answer to that partial question. It really was very difficult for Mecriana to read the intentions of others and the meanings behind the things they said, so the 'mare' title hadn't quite set her off. After all, Scabbers had said it was rude to talk to people without introducing yourself. "I'm actually trying to find my way to Ryuten, but I've gotten rather lost." Though since the other blind, she probably wouldn't be very much help at all in that aspect. It was rather upsetting, and the paintaloosa let out a tired sigh. More wandering after this.

Bella just blinked. It had taken her that long to figure out what it meant? By all gods, she really was a daft idiot. Oh well, that meant she could have more fun with her. "Oh, Ryuten? With the humans? I know where that is." And she did, too, but only because Betel told her exactly how to get there.
"You do, Mistress?" He quipped, gawking at her knowledge.
Idiot. She was perpetually surrounded by them, it seemed. Oh well. Subject change. "Yes, that was rather rude of you. Bellatrix," she offered shortly, after a pause. Hum, how to play with this one... Besides taunting her about Ryuten's whereabouts. She could send her halfway to Casa Tiner if she wanted, if the dumb bint asked for directions. ...no, that would cut her fun short, and she didn't want that. She was in a rather spiteful mood, and didn't want to waste it by being nice. Especially on someone who was lost, and for such an obvious reason, too. It was hard not to get lost when one was so emptyheaded. "Why are you lost, then? Didn't follow someone's directions, or forgot them?" Or charged ahead without asking for them, which seemed more likely, but the other two were quite possible, especially with this mare.

"Yup, that's the place. I grew up there, but its been a long time since I saw the place." The mare honestly believed this Aeri was being nice to her, such a large creature, and yet she seemed friendly! Unlike the green swirly guy, ugh, he was so rude! Well, if she ever saw him again she'd give him a piece of her mind, you could be sure of THAT!
"Ah, that's a cool name." Not at all like Mecriana. Gosh, her sire really wasn't very good at naming. Or was it Scabbers who named her? She couldn't possibly remember that far back, and she barely had any memories of the spineless stallion. It was for the best though. She didn't want to remember the likes of him.
As for why she was lost, the paintaloosa gave a bit of a nervous like, sort of like a 'yeah.. about that' kinda sound. "Well Scabbers was going to take me, but I thought it'd be faster if I flew instead and beat him there. Didn't quite work out that way, I didn't realize how everything looked the same up in the air." She gave a nervous twitch of her tail, eep, her zrun 'parent' was probably mad at her by now. Its been so long!

Well, this wasn't working out very well. Not like she'd hoped, anyway. Well, apparently she was daft in the way of noticing hints too, so perhaps she should step it up a notch. "Oh, yes, I went there when I was young, too. Hated it." And she had, too. Too many awful, disturbing memories from before she went blind. Before, during, and right after, more like. Best not to think about that for now, though.
"You talk about him like I know who that is. Weird name he's got, whoever he is." But, then again, so did her companion. Betelgeuse. Such a strange name, but perhaps common for before her grandmother's time. Oh well. "It would have been smarter to have him take you, then you wouldn't have gotten yourself so hopelessly lost in the middle of D'ob."

"Yeah, it is really weird. Scabbers is my zrun companion though, he practically raised me since I was a young foal," she sighed. Man, she missed Scabbers. She didn't think being raised by a zrun or anything other than a nequus was weird, after all its what she grew up knowing. As for the last part she twisted her head slightly in an odd manner. "Yes, well, he's slow and can't fly. I vastly prefered not walking for days to get there." Perhaps that was said a bit too haughtily, but she didn't fancy being talked down to.
The paintaloosa shifted her weight to another hoof as she began to feel frustrated again. Bellatrix had said she knew where Ryuten was, but she hadn't given her any directions at all. She didn't think the large mare was messing with her, most everyone she had talked to seemed to know the way to D'ob, she just hadn't been able to remember their direction very well. "Erm, could you possibly tell me how to get there? Please?" Really the sooner the better.

Bella's irritating companion remained silent for the time being; he much preferred watching his Mistress mess with others. This girl was rather stupid, in his opinion.
This was all getting rather boring; Mecriana just didn't get it when Bellatrix was messing with her. Or attempting to. Messing with someone didn't really work when they didn't realize they were being messed with. Oh well, at least she had given her a better chance now. "Oh, I see. Betel is my shrila companion. He's dead." Let her chew on that one.
"I walk everywhere. Flying doesn't work well when you can't see where you're going." But she bet that she could fly better than the daft young mare before her. How to get to Ryuten? Delicious. "I could," she replied flatly. Yes, of course she could. That didn't mean she would, however. People just kept getting more and more stupid, it seemed. Pity.

A... dead companion. The paintaloosa's eyes did widen slightly at the very thought of that. So, she either talked to the dead, or this mare was severely messed up and talked to a dead, invisable, made-up companion. Either way you looked at it, Bellatrix was strange. Crazy even! If she thought talking to herself before was bad, this was just plain, wow. Almost as bad as Sanue! And that freak had a beak and talons! Mecriana shook her head and snorted. "Uh... okay then."
Perhaps just walking away slowly would be the better idea. Crazy might be contageous after all. Especially this sort of crazy. The paintaloosa slowly side-stepped, keeping in an eye on those milky-white orbs as if they could see her. "You know, that's okay. I think I can find it myself." Geez, freak. It was one thing to be scared, which Mec hardly ever was, but being freaked out was a totally different story.
Crazy lady, weird aeri mare and her strange made-up, invisable friends. Of course Mec was unaware of any sort of magic that nequus could weild, otherwise that would have been a hint to Bella's speaker status. "I'll be on my way now, have fun talking to your invisable buddy." And with that, the Jala mare took a more even getaway, completely turning around to be off.

Betel cackled, twirling in the air. "Oh, you've done it now, Mistress, scared her off, you have."
She didn't need him to announce it, she could hear for herself. A sly smirk spread itself across her muzzle and she did her best to keep her sightless gaze trained in Mecriana's direction. "Yes, dead. He's been dead a long, long time. I talk to a lot of dead things when I want to. Some nequus actually ask me to talk to them, but that's what a Speaker does. Ask your little friend what I am, maybe he can tell you. What do you think, Betel?" She quizzed, just hoping to freak the paintaloosa out more.
Delighted that she was speaking to him now, he crooned happily. "Oh yes, yes, he should tell her aaall about you and I, I think. That should be fun, maybe then she'd be less dense."
Bella couldn't help but cackle at that, herself. "Yes, I think so, too." With that, she turned and started walking. She paused, canting her head to the side a bit and addressing Mecriana quite loudly, to make sure she heard. "Oh, and, you're going the wrong way, dearie." With that, she cackled once more and set off at a choppy gallop, swinging her hooves low to the ground to kick any potentially threatening rocks out of the way. Betel actually paid attention to other obstacles, just not rocks.
