‘Family’ Charlene Phillip Dartsmoore is the Maternal Parent in the house. Not particularly interested in being social, she often lets her eldest son deal with taking the more friendly members of her brood out. More will be added on her later. Charlemagne Peregrine Dartsmoore is Dartie’s alternate self from another dimension. He and a select few other people from his world were saved from its destruction by being sent to Gaia. Charlie is a decent sort of dude though he’s the least involved member of the family when it comes to the kids, or so it usually seems. He tries to help out now and again but really, kids and him just don’t mesh too well. Bailey Bacardi Dartsmoore is the eldest son of the family. Though Kahlua’s relic was received first, Bails grew fastest and behaves more maturely than Kahlua, so he gains the title of eldest. A friendly, affectionate person, he’s the real ‘family man’ of the bunch, taking the younger kids out places and making sure they stay out of trouble. Kahlua is the second eldest and hardest to get along with of the bunch. He is cocky, perverse, hot-headed, annoying, and rather anti-social. Lu spends most of his time in his room and ignores the rest of the family as much as he can, but he’ll do whatever he needs to cause trouble when he’s gotta. At present, the only ones he fears are Dartie and Bailey since they’re the only ones who can and will enforce their power against him – Charlie doesn’t see the need. Absinthe Chartreuse Dartsmoore is the youngest boy of the family. He’s a warm, bouncy child who generally enjoys his games and hanging with friends. Amiable and easy to please, he stays out of trouble with the others mostly just by hanging around with Bailey. Ebony Morgan Dartsmoore is the cuddlemuffin of the family. A happy-go-lucky little girl who just loves giving hugs and snuggles and making friends. She bakes and cooks, and loves to do things like brush other people’s hair (or fur) and give compliments. An almost diabetes-inducingly sweet child, Ebby seems to have most of the rest of her family wrapped around her little finger. Be it anything from getting Dartie to take her out ice skating, to getting Kahlua to smile and give her a hug, this little girl might be the real power behind the whole family.

This is the little bucket of grump Dartie brought home from the Patch. Not quite what Ebby meant when she asked for a sister, but she still thinks Shiraz is awesome :3

Why Are We Getting Another Kid? Part I A loud annoying noise jarred Charlene Phillip Dartsmoore from a rather restful sleep in the middle of the afternoon. Given how it sounded, the woman was pretty sure it was one of those irksome things known as an alarm clock attempting to rouse her unnecessarily from a rather good nap. There was just one problem with that – no one in the house owned an alarm clock, particularly one that sounded like a dying cat.
Her pointed ears twitched a bit as she attempted to tune into the sounds coming from outside of her room. Yes, definitely not in her room, the door was locked and she was pretty sure she’d remember if she left something like that in over night. The longer she listened, the more the sounds became clear as the words to a song, one being poorly sung over the karaoke machine in the living room.
”~It’s you she’s thinking of and she told me what to saaaaaaaaaaaaay! She says she loves you! And you know that can’t be baaaaaaaaad! She loves you and you know you should be glaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!~”
The off-key screeches of the woman’s middle son prompted her to sit up in bed. Who in the gods’ names decided to put the Chipmunk version of that particular Beatles song on the karaoke machine for her son to mess around with? Whoever it was, they needed to be taken out and immediately shot.
With a sigh the woman struggled out of bed and blearily dragged herself into the hallway to bark at the redhead to shut up. Assembled in the living room she found all four of her children, as well as her ‘cousin’, apparently engaged in a competition with the ridiculous box of singing that they had bought the previous weekend. Staring at Kahlua as he wailed on the machine, the woman felt the strange urge to hear nails scratching on a chalkboard to get some relief from the grating sound of the boy’s vocals.
When the woman walked into the room proper, the screeching stopped and all heads turned to see her. It was general consensus that if you woke Dartie up, you were probably in trouble or being particularly annoying. And being as it was Kahlua and it was on an item she’d been dubious about purchasing, the family was highly wondering if there’d be a smack down.
“Would whoever is choking a goose out here please be silent or end their turn already? I was in the middle of a rather pleasant nap.”
“Gods, I was almost done, sheesh.” Kahlua grumbled with a suck of his teeth and a toss of his braids. Honestly, he didn’t see why they were complaining so much, the Chipmunks did a rather nice rendition of this song.
“Yes well now you ARE done.” The woman said with a yawn, rolling her eyes at the boy.
Seeing a moment between songs and with Mommy still sort of up, the youngest child in the family decided now would be a good time to see if she could convince the older woman to join them. Springing from her seat on the couch, the purple skinned Ebony rushed over to wrap her arms around Dartie’s ribs (she only came up so high) and smile warmly up at the pompadoured woman.
“Maaaaaaaama, play with us?” the dark haired child asked, face cute and winning.
“No. I don’t sing.” The woman replied, though her voice wasn’t as set as when her sons asked her – Ebby had a way of doing things like this.
“Awwwww, why not?”
“Because I don’t.”
“Well can you join us at lease? Please, please please?” the small one asked with a plaintive tone that she usually didn’t have to use with people.
“Fine. Just don’t but me to sing. I sound as bad as Kahlua.”
“HEY!” the redhead glared at her as she said this.
“Your own fault, boy child.” She responded, stretching out on the couch next to Bailey and Charlie. Ebby was happy to sit on the floor with Sinny and Kahlua if it meant Mommy was joining them. The little girl liked family activities to have the whole family involved.
“Why’re you callin’ me boy child? Absinthe’s a boy child too! And so’s Bailey!”
“Yes but I actually feel like referring to Absinthe by his given calling, rather than vague terminology. And no, Bailey is not a ‘boy child’. He now counts as ‘teenthing’. Get it straight.” The woman replied in a dull voice, patting the boy on the head when he took his seat and was replaced at the microphone by Bailey.
Another couple of hours of singing, goofing off and making fun of each other commenced from there. It included such amusing things as people throwing couch cushions and pillows at Kahlua when he got up to sing, Dartie and Charlie actually playing a couple of rounds, and ultimately resulted in Ebony asking a rather odd question of her mother.
“Maaaaama, can we get another kid? A girl this time?” The purple one asked of Dartsmoore, tugging a bit at the bottom of her pantleg from her position on the floor.
“Uh…….what?”
“Can we get another girl? There are places around to adopt them, I’m sure!”
“Why do you want another girl? Not happy with all these brothers?” Bailey teased, leaning over to ruffle his kid sister’s hair a bit.
“I like you guys but I feel all outnumbered cause I’m the only one who can hit high notes or wear dresses or any of that.” The small one intoned with a smile. Mama wasn’t the type who did things like that.
Dartsmoore stared at the girl for a good several minutes, mouth half open and an incredulous look on her face. Seeing nothing but a totally serious and innocent expression on the girl’s face resulted in the woman smacking her own head into her palm and sighing.
“Yeah, yeah sure. I’ll see what I can do. Given my luck, I’ll end up going out to buy groceries and ending up with another kid dumped in my lap.” The woman commented before dragging herself in the direction of her room.
“I’m getting a headache, I think I’ll turn in.” Honestly, the entire time she’d spent awake had made no bloody sense what so ever from start to finish. She really shouldn’t have gotten out of bed to begin with. Dreaming about skiing up stairs in a library made a whole lot more sense than this did.

Why Are We Getting Another Kid? Part 2 Sometimes, Darstmoore really wished her daughter were more forgetful. At least a week had passed since Ebony asking if they could get another girl and the woman half hoped the little one had forgotten. She mostly hoped this because she herself forgot by the third day and the subject hadn’t been broached again. However, the silver haired drunk’s luck had run out that fateful Wednesday morning when the purple child came in to wake her up.
“Mama! Mama!” Ebby called cheerfully, poking her head into her mother’s room.
The woman almost continued sleeping when she heard it, almost positive the child had said ‘Mama Mia’ and was starting up singing that Abba song on karaoke again. However, when the purple one repeated her call, the un-bepomped woman found herself having to sit up and stare at the child.
“Whu?”
“I got you information on the place where you can get my new sister!”
“Huh?”
“It’s called the Cabbage Patch!”
“Aren’t those the freaky dolls with the really weird yarn hair?”
“No – well yeah, but that’s not what I mean! I read about this place! It’s local! They have like genetically engineered cabbages that hatch babies! And there are kids up for adoption too so you could just go get one!” Why oh why must the child be so clear headed at this hour? It wasn’t even noon yet!
“Yeah well there’s a hole in my bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza.” Dartsmoore mumbled before shoving her face back into the pillow.
Giggling, Ebby nudged her a bit more. “Come on, Mommy, you gotta get up now if you’re gonna get anywhere before it starts getting dark. You know you always end up wandering into other stuff on your way places.” The child commented, “so you gotta be up and about extra early today.”
“Merrrr…”
“C’mooooooooooon! You can go back to sleep when you get home from going to get me a sister!” the lust spawn whined, tugging on Dartie’s arm.
“Since when did you get to be the Mom in this situation?” the woman asked, giving the child an incredulous look.
“Since I said so. Now up.” Ebby said, giving her an equally incredulous look right back.
“Merrrrrrr……” the woman repeated, though she slowly started dragging herself into a sitting position.
“That’s the spirit!”
“Yeah yeah yeah. But I ain’t bringing home no cabbage. I’ll try to get one of the already arrived kids or you are gonna have to find somewhere else.” The woman commented, rubbing her eyes, “I do not want to try to explain why I am bringing home a cabbage to the rest of the family. Or watch you caring for one, cause you would be.”
“Whatever you say Mommy. Getting an already born one’s fine with me. That means you can pick out the right kind – get a girrrrrrrrrl, remember.” Ebby called, bouncing around in front of the woman as Dartie stood.
“I hate you so bad, just so you know, kid.” Dartsmoore grumbled as she stood and wandered into her bathroom to wash her face and do her hair. “And yeah, I’ll try to find a girl.”
Honestly, some days she really regretted letting all these random kids run her life. She seemed to be often losing sleep over it. Though, she couldn’t really say she didn’t like them – they were amusing and nice enough. Well, except Kahlua but he was okay.
With a sigh the woman shook her head and finished putting up her pomp and getting properly dressed. Looked like she was going out to pick up a kid from this Cabbage Patch place. Well, at least the purple sprat had printed her up some directions so that was good. Time to go and get a new addition for their family.
