Blue skies soared ahead, the dazzling brightness that shone down on the soquili lands was magnificent, the warmth of the golden rays were a blessing on your skin. Ah, such a beautiful day and one fitting for what purpose the day of today had in store. Of course that wasn't known yet.

A pure white mare with graceful wings walked freely and calmly throughout the empty, grassy plains. The only thought the mare had was to welcome the comfort of nature, the slight pale breeze that was gentle, refreshing, and the warmth swaying down from the sea above.

With much interest in food, it must of been dinner time; stopping, the ivory angeni lowered her head. nibbling at the thin blades of grass, they were easy to tear. Just light tugs and tears and it was as good as delicious. Company would of been nice, who knows maybe another new face would come on by? They always seemed to be the most interesting soquili, when they randomly happen to pass by.

User ImageAstraea grazed in the middle of the dry, grassy plains which had been not untouched by winter's chill. Yet winter was passing now or at least that was what it seemed for the skies were a gorgeous baby blue and the shining orange orb hung brightly in the sky casting its golden rays across the land. Odd that this day should contrast so sharply with one from last week. That bitterly cold icy winds seemed to fade away in the little filly's memory as a gentle breeze blew through the fields. It didn't feel like winter anymore, it felt warmer...nicer...like spring?

Her startling blue eyes swept her surroundings contently, having eaten enough of her share of grass and feeling that she was more than enough full, they caught something white in the midst of dry yellow and green. She blinked, could it be an irregular mound of snow? Strange that anyone would pile it here in the middle of the plains. But no, no, it wasn't a mound of snow, it had red on it...sort of like a mane. The little brown filly started to approach the figure, her eyes full of curiosity and her common sense suggesting caution.

The unaware mare continued happily tugging at the green, yummy grass. It really was fantastic just after winter! It was a wonder how such a chill could give something so small, such flavoring;Ears twitching, slowly she brought her head up, the small pattering of hooves against the hard earth and the wind, slipping by the grass gave the filly away.

Ah, it was a foal. A little brown alicorn at that. Gently, she smiled towards the smaller being, it was welcoming and full of surprise.

"My, your so pretty." the mare complimented whilst looking over the tanned, mixed charcoal colors of her markings.

placing her overly large wings down and tucking them neatly by her sides. She waited for the filly to approach her, if she was to go over, the little one might run away. "Would you like to join me? Really, im harmless." the angeni gave a light, innocent chuckle, looking to the blue skies with a small, thankful smile.

She froze as the mare had lifted her head and stared straight at Astraea, the stranger must have heard her approach. She flattened her ears against her head as she stared up at the ivory mare. She blushed lightly at the compliment and muttered a soft,"Thank you, madam." The stranger, who ever she was, seemed to be kind. Big brother probably won't mind if Astraea met her, would he? She gave a tentative step towards the other soquili, feeling reassured by her warm smile.

As Astraea approached the stranger, she was given a chance to look at the mare more closely. She was extremely pretty, with her ruby red hair with streaks of black contrasting sharply with her ivory pelt, but faint scars could be seen like pink streaks on snow. Yet the stranger's dark eyes, like black abysses, unnerved the foal slightly. But the smile seemed to kindle up her courage again. It made her muscles relax a bit, the stranger didn't mean any harm. In a few more moments, she was before the ivory mare, looking at her curiously.

The strangers eyes were curious and pure; remembering those days could only make you smile, when everything was a mystery.

"Your welcome little one" again, the mare spoke gently watching the filly come closer towards her with dark pools. Not even the grass made a sound, but she was glad she wasnt afraid, even with the intimidating holes inplace of eyes that watched her.

"My name is Taharial, may I ask of your own?"

The little foal spoke with such politeness even with how quiet she was, it was a quality easily noticed and, it was a sign of good upbringing.

She stared up at the stranger, glad that the mare seemed to be nice. No, nice wasn't the right word, the stranger seemed to be more than nice...gentle, caring...almost what they called 'mother' like. The little foal bit her lip, she had never had someone to call 'Mother' so such assumptions didn't make any effect. Though she did have a guardian, Aeolus seemed to be more like a big brother to her than anything else...

Astraea paused, wondering if she should give her name to this stranger called Taharial. Big brother had always told her not to speak or give information out to strangers...but that didn't seem to be the situation now. "My name is Astraea." She stared at the ground at this, slightly embarrassed at how plain and boring the words came out like.

The little foal, now named Astraea brought a happy smile onto Taharial's face. She was glad she was granted her name but as the little one looked away, it started to make her wonder slightly.

Thats when it had hit her; holding her head high, she scanned the surroundings for any form of life other than theirs that could be about, perhaps ones that resembled markings such Astraea did - there was none.

Looking down at her Taharial gave a comforting smile and lowered her head, gently nuzzling into the filly's hair.

"What a beautiful name you have." She chuckled lightly, still smiling delightfully.

Astraea's twitched slightly at the mare's touch, surprised at the odd comfort it seemed to give her. It made her feel rather soothing inside and strangely happy. At bigger soquili's compliment on her name, she cautiously lifted her head up as a small smile grew on her face,"Thank you, ma'am." The mare, now called Taharial, was still smiling and the smile seemed to give Astra a bit more confidence as she ploughed on rather uneasily since she had hardly ever held a conversation with an older adult before,"It's a very pleasant day isn't it? Big brother says it's like spring though spring isn't supposed to be coming until a few more weeks at least."

She closed her bright blue eyes blissfully thinking about how the weather and the world could possibly look better than it was already before opening them and saying,"He says that when it's spring, there are going to be lots and lots of plants called flowers blooming all over the place and baby birds spreading their wings for their first flight." She shifted her own ebony wings at the thought. She hadn't learned how to fly yet since Big Brother didn't have any wings and all her self attempts had failed. She glanced at the mare's bigger wings, imagining her soaring through the big fluffy clouds. She paused, wondering if she should ask, and said,"Can you please help me?" She looked up at Taharial imploringly though not sure if her wording was correct. At the thought that the question might be taken with confusion, she immediately hurried on,"I mean...can you teach me how to fly?"

[Lol thank you! XD <3 Im glad you think so *squee* Atraea turned out so beautiful btw!! and sure! i'd love some more rp with you ^-^]

"Your welcome" Taharial answered watching the little filly as her expression wandered with curiosity. The sun and the swaying breeze lifted the older mares head away from her, closing the two eyes to let nature be savored.

"yes, the weather is beautiful today. He speaks well of spring." Shifting her head down again, she gently opened the two pale lids to not be rude, letting the dark orbs take focus on her once again. "Aww you haven't seen the flower's yet? In spring they are very beautiful with different array of colours, pinks, blues... Even the air is fresh and smells of fine scents that are pleasant." she chuckled, the tone of her voice more enthusiastic when talking about the wonderful aspects of nature and those that revolve around the lands.

The question caused the mares ears to flick forward, she gave a light chuckle, nervously. She herself had only just recently learned to fly before pregnancy had hit. She wouldn't want to let the little one down though, so she flashed a quick look of confidence and nodded to Astraea.

"Of course. Id love to teach you. Then in spring, you'd be able to fly with the baby birds." With a gentle flick of four white, graceful wings, a smile gleamed, finally being able to help someone.

"No, I haven't. But they seem to be very beautiful." She smiled slightly as she listened to the accounts of spring. A blissful expression grew on her face. Spring sounded wonderful...especially after all the days of bitter cold winter. A tingle went through her nerves at the thought that it was coming very soon. She could almost smell the sweet aromas in the air and the sounds of new life everywhere. She came out of her thoughts again at the sound of the light chuckle.

Astraea flicked her tail nervously as she heard the slightly nervous tone in the mare's voice. Did Taharial not want to teach her how to fly? Perhaps she was too tired? Perhaps she was busy and didn't have enough time? At the thought that she had put her newly met friend into an uncomfortable position, she immediately started to say,"I'm really sorry, it's okay if you don't wa-" She stopped in mid sentence before raising her head, still processing what Taharial had said.

"Really?" Her eyes lit up as a broad smile grew on her face,"Thank you so much." She bowed her head respectfully before raising her head again, her smile still glowing on her face.

(( Thank you. x3 *snuggles her* Awesome. O: *goes to post in Loli's plot thread* ))

"Your most welcome!" answered the angeni who spoke with an essence of innocence. Turning, with a gentle smile, the four wings ruffled before neatly tucking in at either sides.

Looking back at the filly, Taharial casted a gentle flick of her head in the other direction, placing one fairy tapping hoof after another along the ground. "We could start now if you like? The weather couldn't of been any more perfect for the opportunity" she sang softly, her red and black streaked tail flicking slowly behind as she walked.

She thought for a moment on where they could practice, and then at the thought of the cliff Jo had been taught gave a pretty clear idea on where they could go. Not there, she respected how it was sentimental to her beloved mate however the place where they would begin lessons wouldnt be too far away.

"Really? Can we? I would love to." Astraea exclaimed with barely contained excitement, her sky blue eyes dancing merrily. It was amazing that she was finally going to learn how to fly. Amazing, remarkable...Absolutely wonderful. What would it be like fly? Soaring through the endless blue sky and zooming in and out of clouds, calling with the birds. That experience only had her imagination provided until now. She closed her eyes for a moment blissfully imagining the wind blowing in her hair and filling the sun's rays shining on her back.

She followed quietly behind Taharial still thinking about flying. Yet before three steps, realization hit her. What if she wasn't good at flying? What if she couldn't lift herself off the ground? Worse, what if she flew up really high and then suddenly plummetted down to earth. Her anxiety seemed to slowly take over her excitement as she followed the mare to where ever they were going to practice.

Taharial could only imagine the feelings Astraea was feeling. Learning to fly was a big job, but she knew she would do well, as long as she kept her spirits up and had the idea in mind of that 'want' to fly.

Soon they arrived at the spot they were going to practice. It was a large ascending hill that reached up high, there was a steep dip at the otherside, but at least she wouldn't plummet if she was to wobble and fall;the landing would be quilted by long grass.

"Ok little one.. Are you ready? Dont worry about falling, or not being able to do this right. Everyone makes mistakes at first, but it will slowly get better i promise" she chuckled, watching the watching the movements of the young filly.

Astraea let out a breath of relief as she arrived at the training ground. It looked nice. At least she wouldn't fall from a gigantic cliff and plummet into the crashing sea. Instead, she would land onto the carpet of the plains. It would hurt, but not as much as it would if she hit her head on rocks sticking out of the ocean coast. Of course it was best if she didn't fall, her nerves had settled down a bit as she viewed the training ground. It didn't look murderous...at least she didn't think so.

The little brown foal nodded,"Yes, I think so." A small smile grew again on her face as she felt more reassured. It wouldn't be too bad to fall, right? After all, it was just practice. She shifted her black feathers conciously, waiting to start.

"No, not at all" she gave a light, calm laugh re-assuring to the foals question. "If you were to fall badly, I will be there to catch you and I will be making sure nothing happens to you. You will be safe." Taharial nodded with a warm smile, making her way up the hill and standing at the peak, where the sun glittered across the blades of emerald green.

"First of all, you gently motion your wings up and down.." Whilst guiding the foal through the warm ups and basics of flying, she also motioned the for large wings, it was a little different than two-winged soquili, but the basics were intact the same. She knew she could do this, she had all the hope in the world for the little one.

"After you get the feel of the air along your wing feathers, take a deep breathe nd focus on where your take off point will be."
