Just wanted to know if there was anyone out there that looked into any of the operas from the book. or even the real ones mentioned in the musical for that matter.
My Vocal Coach just game me two Arias from Faust by Gound. i am not really looking forward to learning them... but i guess i am just feeling overwelmed by the length and that kind of stuff...

I've read the Faust play and I've heard one song from Romeo et Juliette, but I plan on getting that opera plus the Faust opera although the one song I'm fairly familiar with in Faust is the one where Maugerite gets all those fancy fancy jewels from Faust/Mephisto...becuase it's in quite a few phantom movies. I also wanted to check out a Don Juan book once upon a time but I never followed up on the urge...*glares at piles of school work*

Welp, I was in NYC when the Met was putting on Il Muto or Faust, can't remember which. I was so sad...couldn't go.

Il Muto isn't a real opera. It was created by Andrew Lloyd Webber for his show -- in fact, none of the operas that are performed in the Webber musical are real operas.
So, it was most likely Faust. A lot of productions perform Faust and more power to them -- it's a lovely one.

Il muto isn't real, but I heard was based off of a Mozart opera called Le nozze de figaro, and I think Don juan triumphant was based of Don giovanni

Don Juan Triumphant is a piano piece composed by the Phantom in the book. In fact, the phantom refuses to let Christine listen to it, because he thinks it will be too overwhelming for her to listen to. Also, I forget the name of the opera but I saw an opera were the male lead was Don Juan, and he would go around seducing different woman.

I've seen Roméo et Juliette at the auditorium, but that was before my obsession began.

It's been mentioned here earlier, and I don't know too many others having to do with Don Juan.

What exactly do you want? The score, the soundtrack, a video of the show?
I don't know about the score, but iclassics.com has good copies of the latter two, and most sizeable music stores should have some version on CD in the classical section.

Don Juan's a book. So it was more likely based on the book than Don Giovanni.
Faust is everywhere, it's a popular Opera. The Met performed it a couple weeks ago in January.
