Some Physical Trait Suggestions for Human Side if Starting as a Pokemon: Clawed hands and feet, smaller dog-like ears, perhaps ending up to look furry elf-ears, shorter muzzle/snout, spine changes to allow him to stand on two legs, longer mane on his head to look more like hair instead of fur?
Personality if starting as pokemon: Lovable, loyal, playful, undisciplined, unruly, ruffian, trusting, curious, innocent, sweet, no sense of judgment, friendly, no sense of right from wrong, good or bad, very open and big-hearted
History: He was born and raised a pet to humans. Wears a blue collar all the time. When his family couldn't handle him living indoors anymore the family's son took the growlithe and became a pokemon trainer. They traveled everywhere and growlithe loved his master very much. The boy was very impatient. He thought training a pokemon until it evolved was a lot of hard work. Instead he bought a fire stone and evolved the growlithe that way. Having evolved too soon the Arcanine kept his puppy-behavior and now the boy had a much bigger pokemon to try and control. The pokemon was too much for the boy to handle so he traded Arcanine to an adult, thinking he would go to a good home. The scientist put away the pokeball and left for the island. Or something like that. No struggle was involved, so Arcanine's trusting nature can remain intact for now.
Strengths: Resistant to bug, steel, grass, fire and ice type moves. Forgiving, loving, merciful, kind, optimistic, looks on the bright side of things, can find something to smile about all the time, funny, loyal, fun to be around, very patient and tolerant, very sociable, faithful, courageous, strong
Weaknesses: Too trusting, too innocent, wears his heart on his sleeve, you can always tell how he's feeling, can be emotionally hurt easily. Blind to the evil of the world. Learns slowly. Needs to learn how to judge weather a person is good or bad, since he'd walk up to any stranger. Weak to ground, rock, and water pokemon attacks. Obsessive compulsive, short attention span, can be taken advantage of. Has several phobias. List of them below.
1.) Agyrophobia- Fear of streets or crossing the street.
2.) Ailurophobia- Fear of cats.
3.) Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.
4.) Automatonophobia- Fear of ventriloquist's dummies, animatronic creatures, wax statues - anything that falsely represents a sentient being.
5.) Helminthophobia- Fear of being infested with worms.
6.) Hydrophobophobia- Fear of rabies.
7.) Mastigophobia- Fear of punishment.
8.) Merinthophobia- Fear of being bound or tied up.
Future Plans for Character or Any Extra Info: He'll learn how to walk on two legs, learn right from wrong, learn how to talk human speech, learn good from bad, how to be wary, how to not trust everyone you meet, learn much more about human customs and behaviors, how to hide his emotions, he won't be so innocent, he'll be wiser to the ways of mankind, he'll act more grown up, more mature, yet still be a kind, loyal, and forgiving friend to those he trusts, he'll be more willing to protect and battle when he needs to, will understand that a battle is not play time. Will become more intelligent and majestic like arcanines are usually described as. He'll have more human-like impulses and take on some of their behaviors. He'll become more focused. Take more responsibility. Will face most of his fears.

Info on the pokemon: Arcanine (Japanese: ウインディ Windie) is a Fire-type Pokémon. It evolves from Growlithe via a Fire stone. Arcanine is a canine-like Pokémon that resembles the mythical Chinese Shisa (a cross between tiger and a dog). Its head is covered in a cream-colored hair, except for the region around its eyes and ears, which is orange. Its body is a combination of the same orange fur and black stripes. It also has patches of cream-colored on its chest, legs and tail. Its paws each have three claws and a round pink paw underneath. Arcanine live in active volcanoes, grassy plains, and scorched fields heated by geothermal energy. A carnivorous predator.

Koda sounds like a sweetheart and a nut. He'll be fun to RP with, especially with the grand number of "rawr!" and emo people on the island; we need a change once in a while.
