I bet you all are not surprised in the least that I set out to make this thing. Well, I figured I might as well jump at the chance to make it, since Utakan organized the place so nicely (*Clapclap*), and with the subforums it won't get overcrowded with a thread for every movie, so I decided to indulge. And if anybody has a problem with it...well...*points at the threads dedicated to the 1990 TV movie and the Dario Argento movie* if those are allowed, I guess this one is too.
That said, welcome to the PPG'S Phantom of the Paradise thread. I'll work on fancifying it up in the future, but right now it's just a place to chat about PotP without all the glitz and glitter that's coming up. Well, enjoy!

That will amuse you, Alexis. I have a friend who just joined Gaia. I was talking to her in the phone while she was lurking, so I told her to visit this guild. She was looking the "Gasp, that's a PotO reference!", and then, I heard a yell. I was like "wtf eek " and she told me "THERE'S A REALLY CREEPY AND SCARY IMAGE HERE!! crying " I was like "what?" and she told me it was some Alexis something. I immediately said it was Winslow, and I swear, she was traumatized. Then, she went to the second page, and I heard another yell. She saw him again! xd She really was terrified, I swear. Her voice was shaky and she couldn't stop saying "ugh!".
Not very PotP related, but a nice, entertaining second post.

Takiko, yes, Winslow tends to be traumatizing to people who see his picture. I find it hillarious. I'll be sure to add your friend to the tally. Two people so far have told me that they seriously thought they'd have nightmares about him. It was great. xd Red_Death, I'm sure you'll be entertained. You like shaved puppies. *Snicker* Winslow is my love slave! By the way, look at what I found: Two Winslow action figures. I thought there was only one. Aah, I wanteth! gonk Edit: And this! http://www.forbidden-zone.biz/phantomprev.htm

Alexis Of Shadow Takiko, yes, Winslow tends to be traumatizing to people who see his picture. I find it hillarious. I'll be sure to add your friend to the tally. Two people so far have told me that they seriously thought they'd have nightmares about him. It was great. xd Is my friend one of them? Because she said that to me too. xd And now, she won't stop bugging me about how Winslow was the uggliest thing she has ever seen in her whole life. She goes "The eyes were so big and reeeeed! And this strange helm thingie! gonk " I'm surprised that she was so scared, she can endure horror movies so well. xd Quote: Winslow is my love slave! ... *covers her eyes*

*Snickers madly* Yeah, I added her. I have no idea why some people are so traumatized by him. Honestly, I love horror movies. All horror movies, with the exception of really, terribly bad slashers. But I also love Winslow. I think he's adorable. Though, I remember when I first heard of him, I remember thinking "Ew! He get's his teeth pulled. That's pretty disturbing. I don't think I'll like him much". But I also remember thinking "What kind of barely visible deformity can someone hide under that stupid mask thing?" and "How much of an idiot can you be to get your head stuck in a record press?" and "His name is Winslow Leach! What the hell kind of name is Winslow Leach?! It's not even Erik!" I thought he'd be my least favorite Phantom, even moreso than Gerik. Then I saw the movie.
But yeah. anyway...I don't know. Personally, now, I love him. But he seems to make bad first impressions. It's just him, I guess. *Wants PhantomoftheFox to hurry up and make her the Winslowplush*
Yeee-up. I'm starting to feel like I'm sort of a celebrity with my Winslow obsession. Eheh. It's a bit strange.

Consering how weird Winslow look, yes it is. xd Well, Erik may be helly ugly, but at least he doesn't have metal teeths or eyeballs popping out of his eyesockets. Horrible =/= scary/creepy/weird.
The only thing that kept me from having terrible first impressions of PotP is your obsession with it. I thought "If someone loves it that much, it can't be that bad." And the summary wasn't bad. So now it's one of the PotO movies that I want to watch the most. whee After the Lon Chaney one, of course.
Winslow, adorable? xd

I like his popping eyeballs and metal teeth and all that fun nifty stuff. PotP is my favorite version, followed closely by the Lon chaney version, so, yeah, they're both awesome.
I want the soundtrack. I'll probably get it at Borders...or something.
Red_Death, you no likey teh sexxeh Winslow statue thingies? *Coucgh*Weirdo*cough*
Infamous celebrity, is it? Oh joy. xd
And yes, Winslow is adorable. Let me count the ways:
1. He wears a nifty costume which is sexy as hell. *Drools over costume* 2. He has metal teeth which make him look all creepy and cool. 3. He has a bird logo branded onto his cheek. 4. He either cannot speak, and makes only choking and whimpering noises, or he has an electronically created voice which is all graty and nifty. 5. He has that adorable poofy hair. 6. He's a major dork. *Loves dorks* 7. He's squeezable! 8. He's Winslow.

When I saw this thread, I didn't even have a shadow of a doubt on who made it, Alexis, lol.
You can add three more people to the list of people scared, too. My mom walked by, looked at the pic in your siggy, and ran off. Later she asked what the hell I was looking at and if I was some kind of devil-worshipper. My eldest sister Sarah saw it while pestering me and won't walk past the computer without asking if it's safe. My youngest sister Hannah saw it and started to cry. Thanks! =D
I still haven't seen the movie. Do you think they'd have it at Blockbuster?

Winslow makes small children cry. O.o
And Grandpa Ducky: I seriously doubt they'll have it at Blockbusters. Maybe it just depends where you live. Ask the infamous Alexis

You guys are cracking me up. And I'm at a library. I had to practically choke myself to keep from laughing out loud at what you said, Grandpa Ducky. It's awesome. *Snicker*
I don't know if they'd have it at Blockbuster, I don't rent movies there. Maybe not, it's a little known cult movie. It's not even listed in this compendium of Cult moviesI found at a bookstore. That irritated me. But, anyway, I got my rental copy at Netflix. And from there, went on a search around the city for a copy of the DVD I could buy. It took two weeks since I returned the thing to find a copy. *Twitch*
But good luck finding the DVD. You should try Blockbuster anyway, just in case.
And, yes, Winslow does make small children cry. When I have kids, making them watch PotP will be a punishment. Hee. You shouldn't have given me that idea, Takiko. *Evil laugh*
Why do so many people find Winslow disturbing? I was a tiny bit disturbed, but it was because of the teeth-pulling thing, and I wasn't so much disturbed as I didn't particularly like him. So I wouldn't really know.

If you really do that, then you'll have the most well-behaved children on Earth. OR they will have a mental trauma after being "punished" for the first time. xd
