User Image The sands seemed to be prettier in the dawn and the dusk than at any other time. In the high sun they were that light, tedious brown and in the night they were just gray hills. In the twilight, however, they were all sorts of colors, from reds to purples, and that was the only time Runya liked to look at the rolling hills. Perched on a small rock, she stared out at the quiet lands. Nothing seemed to be stirring at this hour, and she knew she shouldn't be either.

But she couldn't sleep.

It was difficult for her, because her mind was a very active one, and it really kicked into gear when the world around her grew quiet. When it was day and everyone was up and about she had things to focus on, to do and play with that kept her occupied. When everyone was sleeping she was left with her thoughts, and she was not very good at sorting out all the things she thought about.

Not the best socially, she was having a hard time making friends with any one, even her own siblings. Yes, she was still young and it was nothing for anyone else to worry about just yet, but to her it was a big problem. She thought about all the interactions she had during the day, imagining how they might have gone if she had said something better, or done something different. They were always much better in her head.

If only she could make it happen in real life.
