I was just wondering... how does your family react to whatever new age stuff you're into? Do they even know you're into new age stuff?

I brougt this up because today my grandma came over to my house and at the time I wasup in my room in a deep trance, channeling. I had my ouija board out too. When she came up to my room to see me she just sort of shook her head, thinking I was a bit daft... but then again she already thinks I'm rather strange.

A few weeks back I was at a family gathering. Usally at these sorts of things I'll play with my three younger cousins who absolutely adore me, but noneof them were there, so I was rather bored. I ended up distancing myself from everyone a bit and using my pendulum. I thought that no one would bother me seeing as my pendulum is also a necklace, thus it would just look as if I were toying with my necklace, but, one of my aunts caught sight of me. She was amazed at how though my hand was perfectly still the necklace would still sway. Pretty soon I had a group ofrelaitives around me, some thinking I was crazy and others in amazement of the pendlum. Needless to say that was quite an uncomfortable experience... sweatdrop

Then theres my aunt Caroline. I've offered my services as a holistic healer to her dog, Harley, and she and I believe that it saved him from the clutches of death, as before I started my healing regimine on him he couldn't eat and was extremely weak, but now is robust and healthy.

Also theres my uncle Robert. I havn't seen him in quite a while but the last time I saw him I had my Tarot cards on me and was doing a reading for my cousin. He thought I was a bit crazy for believeing in such, but then again he thinks I'm going to turn out to be a serial killer because I wear mostly black...

My mom is pretty open to new age. After all, most of the new age books I read are hers. sweatdrop I can talk to her about almost anything -- like for instance I tried japa meditation for the first time today and after the first ten or twenty minutes (I lost track of time) my body started... I don't know how to describe this... "vibrating" from the inside out, and my ears rang in a constant tone. The only thing she doesn't know about is my psionics, and that's because I'm afraid she'll mistake it for witchcraft. sweatdrop

My dad, however, doesn't know a thing about new age. I'm not sure if he doesn't want anything to do with it, or if he has no clue what it is. 0.o Then there's my little brother, who is 8 years old. I showed him how I could spin a psiwheel once, and it was really hard for me to make him forget about it. >.< He's no good at keeping secrets, and I'm too afraid to let my parents know I practice it, so yeah...

The last time I brought anything like that up, my step-dad teased me about it, thus I say nothing about it to him. as for my mother, she seems fascinated with the stuff I know. I was telling her about the voices in my old room (we moved), and she was listening like it was the most interesting thing ever. She also liked hearing how I went to a graveyard on Samhain and talked to these two people who helped me with a spell I did a few weeks ago, who've been dead since the early 40's.

A while ago, I wanted to start practicing Reiki because I met somebody at a festival that said I should look into it because I had awesome energy or something. But anyway, back at home I decided to try it on my mom (not very new agey) to see what her reaction would be and if she would feel anything. I started trying to flow my energy through her heart and after about a minute she was like "BOOLAAGH" and started acting like something weird was happening to her. It scared the hell out of me so I stopped. Kind of annoyed me too.

My mom says that I need to see some sort of shrink when ever I mention the ghost at the bottom of my stairs. I live in the basement, so the stairs go down in to my room. She also stands at the top of the stairs at times.
No one else in my family is in to any of the new age stuff, everyone thinks that it's just BS, or that I just have an obsession with crystals and the paranormal.

Well, everyone in my family seem to have knowledge of my interests and practices. I don't think my father is particularly fond of it, though he did let me read his tarot cards for him once. My mother doesn't mind it at all, and though Christian, even helps to celebrate Yule with me now for two years. My boyfriend is fine with it...I guess we don't really talk about it much. I'm not really comfortable enough with anyone to discuss it. sad

my familt is not the greatest people in the world to talk to about anything anti-catholic. They fight for anti-new age, and anti-gay conversations all the time, and i xcant seem to win even if i do!! Oh well, but i do have almost all of my friends supporting me and practicing along, if not understanding it. My boyfriend is completely find with it, i think... but its always got to be kept a secret around my house. Not to mention my dad hates incense. stare
