The husk remnants of mahogany brown shards littered the vanilla tabletop of Karai Memorial's break room. The early morning air was fragrant with the lingering smell of cocoa and espresso married beautifully in the wakening effects of gods mercy. Delicate digits rummaged lazily through the plastic container the chocolate coated beans had been so plentifully in supply of when he'd begun his shift. However, the half lidded eyes of ice-blue flickered dangerously low as the doctor wondered when that had been. Seventy-two hours, he knew, was a dangerously long time to be awake but between children, work, and keeping his lover company, the need to stay awake had driven this caffeine high binge which he was steeply coming down from.
The crash was debilitating and mercifully dull. Raizen's hand ceased its search for the remainder of its driving force and lay still. His head slumped forward, the relic awkwardly nuzzled between chest and features as sleep claimed him.
Caffeine does odd things to ones dreams though, and although the sleep was a welcome escape from the noises that continued past the hospital doors outside - his rest was somehow going to be considerably less restful than even he could anticipate. The relic was the last flash of any conscious thought he had before pure blackness consumed him.

As he drifted off the rest of the way, the man's soul - which a ghostly version of the relic around his neck - was drawn up out of his body and forced to float in midair. In front of him was what seemed like a very huge door floating randomly in the air before him. And the relic was glowing and sort of floating up in front of him like it wanted Raizen to go forth and open that door.

The passage wasn't the strangest thing he'd ever encountered in a dream. Hessitantly, Raizen moved forth and gently placed his hands upon the door. Despite the size, it seemed to open easily to the touch allowing the curious soul to wander in and forth. The illumination of the relic was of great comfort and compelled him to go farther to see what waited on the other side.

Once he'd passed through the door, it vanished behind him, leaving the man in a new scene entirely. Before him lay a beautiful female who seemed to be part...rabbit? She was chained down with strange gold colored crystals and seemed to just be sleeping, though no breath went through her body. The relic seemed to be drawing the man towards her. Huh, how odd.

The doctor in him, tired as he was felt compelled to approach - though regardless, the relic would have accomplished the same thing. He moved to her side and felt an overwhelming sense of sadness to see how she lay so still. The woman looked like a fragile doll, peaceful and serene, yet as he lay a hand on her shoulder to see if she would wake he knew that something had gone awry and she would not do so, nomatter if he tried rouse her.

As he touched her, her body began to glow in a silvery white fashion, turning into almost pure light. The necklace about his throat did as well and suddenly shot from his throat into the mass of light before him, causing it to shrink. When the glowing and shrinking stopped, before him sat a cute little baby girl. How sweet!

Raizen clutched his throat as the pendant was ripped from it. No pain resulted from the sudden departure but he could not supress a gasp of shock as it left him and shot into the woman. A burst of pure light overtook his senses for a moment before it slowly diminished into the small figure that remained.
Gold chains fell away from her like lace as the infant sat up and gazed into the face of her chosen guardian. Wide amber eyes shone like some alien starlight from betwixt strands of ebony that fell freely about her features. They barely but grazed her shoulders, stopping below her visage in wisps. From seemingly nowhere, large hare-like ears surfaced, alert atop her head and seemed to pick up the most minute traces of his heartbeat, rotating forth to listen better and cause said beat to quicken as the man observed her. The child was not human, this was certain, and to further drive this home, she was covered in the softest silver fur one could imagine. Translucent whiskers twitched thoughtfully as she wrinkled her nose a bit and tried to reach out and touch her father figure with tiny white tipped hands.
Raizen picked the girl up and cradled her a bit, finding that she also posessed a rather fluffy tail at the end of her being that wiggled happily as did her ears as he brought her against his chest. Content, the infant yawned wide and nestled into him, lowering her ears as she got comfortable - not yet asleep but decidedly pleased with the matter.

The door back to their bodies reopened behind him as he claimed the small one and the two were able to return and go back to sleeping properly. Well that was good at the very least but when they finally got up, there'd be a baby bunny girl to deal with.
