It had been many nights that he had waited for Yazmina just outside the lines of her home and small herd. He minded to keep himself quite so that they wouldn't wake and ask what he was doing. It was always the same when he met up with Yazmina, but each time ha noticed that her pace might have been slowing and her belly having a bit of a roundness to it. But he paid it no mind to it until now, as he once again waited for Yazmina in the same place. The skies were ablaze with color and the shadows lengthened, reaching out for the light to engulf it in darkness. Soon the stars would be flickering into existence and soon they would be off again to be together until the shadows retreated from the sun back into the caves and trees of which they came from. Tonight he hoped to take her close to his own home, at least to the entrance of the Cave of voices. Mind caught up in other things, he lost track of himself anf started walking closer to Yazmina's home, his eyes blinking as he stopped a few feet from the small herd as he looked for his love... Oh where could she have been?

The herd had noticed Yazmina's swelling belly and her slowness as well. It had taken quite a bit of convincing on Yazmina's part to keep Dia from going and find 'that Nikolas' as she called him and giving him a piece of her mind. Diego had gotten very protective as well, but it was Blossomforth who took care of her, encouraging her to eat and rest and who stood beside her while she dozed. Blossomforth who was dozing, herself, now. Occasionally she flicked an ear or muttered in her sleep, but she was sleeping. Which meant Yazmina could creep toward the trees, as quietly as she could when her joints seemed to creak and she felt as though she made all the sound in the world moving. Her belly was quite obviously swollen now, and though she understood why and how that had come to be, she wondered about what Nikolas would thing, and whether he would be upset. When she saw him, she stopped, paused for a moment, then went to him, putting her nose immediately against his neck. "We have something important to talk about, love."

Head raising some, Nikolas set eyes on Yazmina and now seeing that her belly was indeed swollen. She looked to be walking inpain with that belly, but didn't seem to complain. When she came to him and tucked her nose in close to his neck. Reflexivly he laid his head down over hers minding to be careful of her horn of course. Ears flicking some he backed up a pace to look at her in the eye.
"Oh? It has to do with your swelling belly doesn't it?" he asked tilting his head a little.
Looking around some, then back to the trees that he had come through. Those would be a bit of a problem and he wouldn't want anything to happen to her in this state. They could walk around the trees and in more space for them to walk side by side. He also knew of a place where they could speak safely without other ears hearing what might not need to be heard.
"Come, I know of a place where we can go. It's not too far and also far enough away from ears we might not what to hear." He started turning around toward a the shadows and away from her home like they did every other night.

There was her blush, right on cue, as he mentioned her belly. He'd been there, obviously, he knew what had happened so there was no reason to be embarrassed, and yet, she still was. It was all so new, this phase of her life, and she reacted so oddly to the most ordinary things. Still, she was glad to be able to walk along beside Nikolas. She felt better having him near her, especially now.
"I don't mind people hearing," she told him as they walked. "And there's no hiding it from anyone who can see. But I thought--" Well, no. She'd worried and she fell silent, pacing on beside him quietly until they reached the spot he'd spoken of.
Then she summoned her courage, took a deep breath and turned to face him, worry in her eyes. "You're not upset, are you? Or angry? We didn't talk about this and I don't want to make you mad..."

When they had reached the sheltered glen, he stopped as she got before him. Tilting his head some he wondered what she was going one about, true there was no hiding it that she was heavy with child and that they were going to be his. Never had he thought that he would be the father of children of a mortal, well... If it had been the old days at least, but in this time he was who he was, a father to be and there was no way he could change that now. What spilled from her mouth when they reached the glen made him think a moment.
Was he upset? Or angry? Not in the least, he was over joyed to know that he would be a father, wouldn't anyone? He might have been a bit confused on when it all happened and what his brother would say. Then again, his brother would be the one to start coaching him on being a father. Oh the humility of it when the day came that his brother was teaching him things he already knew. Coming back around to things he found himself just standing there, silent. He had to say something, or she would think that he was upset over all this.
"Of course not, Why would I be upset over such a grand thing? The coming of the children will be wondrous." He stepped forward and nuzzled against her. "I bet they will have your beauty as well as your charm."

Yazmina heaved a deep sigh of relief. Blossomforth and Dia had both tried to tell her that she was being silly -- or ridiculous, in Dia's opinion -- but it took Nikolas's reassurance to make her see that, yes, she really was being unnecessarily silly about the whole thing.
Of course Nikolas would be happy. He had little ones living with him now, didn't he? He and his brother had been taking care of them for who knew how long, so he couldn't mind them much. She leaned against him in turn, so they could both brace each other up, and caught a lock of his mane in her teeth, tugging so lightly he'd barely feel it move.
"They'll be the best of both of us," she said without hesitation. Then a thought occurred and she added, "But you'll have to help me if they have your hunger, Nikolas. You'll have to teach them to control it, as you have."

There was that down side of everything. Shaking his head some, he hoped that none of his children had his curse. He would have been consumed with if it hadn't been for hios brother helping him with controling it and that was slim to none at best some days. LEaning close to Yazmina me somewhat burried his face into her mane.
"I can only hope that none are born with such a curse. But yes, if any are born with it, I will help them control it. As well as my brother, he will also be there to help us." He added in about his brother.
Kristopher had always encouraged him to do something more.. Mortal. He was over joyed to hear that Nikolas had found himself a mate and there were children on the way. It seemed that the little ones that they were caring for even the ones that had grown and moved on had heard the news. Their oldest Fledgeling, Dove was over joyed to have little ones to look after.
"I'm sure there will be others that be happy to help look after them and all. ONe of my oldest Fledgelings, her name's Dove. She was too over joyed to hear and wishes to teach the kids to fly if they have wings that is." He chuckled thinking of everyone else.

Yazmina was nervous about one of the foals turning out to have the need to feed on other animals, no question about it. And yet, she was determined that, if it happened, it would be all right. With Nikolas' help, with Kristopher's, they would manage.
So she nickered lowly against his cheek, nuzzling it, and smiled at him. "You will be a good father, Nikolas. I can tell." She hoped she would be a good mother, too.
Mention of someone else teaching the foals to fly made her ears tip forward, a little anxiously. "I." She didn't want to be rude, but she wasn't sure she'd trust a mare she hadn't met with her little ones, especially not in flying lessons. Obviously Nikolas trusted her, but still. "She could help," she allowed. "Once we know their wings are strong enough to hold them, maybe."

OK, that was a little too soon to say, though Dove had been quite excited about the new additions to the 'family'. She had always been excited about something as she grew up around them. Always so cute when she was a foal and now she was a grown mare out on her own now. Shaking his head a little he remained close to Yazmina closing those oh so black eyes. Collecting himself once more to try and correct his mistake.
"Perhaps we can just let Dove know about them later when they are older." He nodded, "For now, we should just relish in the knowing that we will have a family."
He hoped that would ease things for the time being. He was under enough pressure from his brother about all this and he didn't want to hurt anyone else tonight. Nuzzling himself against Yazmina he looked toward the skies, having the feeling that things were going to be hectic when the little ones came, but he wasn't afraid. He had been dealing with young fledglings for a while now, but they weren't of his own blood of course...
"You will be a wonderful mother to them. We will teach them all there is to know about the world that they are to grow into." He said softly, almost as if he were to fall asleep right there beside her...

It was a little soon, but most of that was nervousness on Yazmina's part. She'd never been a mother before, after all. She scratched at Nikolas' neck lightly with her muzzle, just a little affection. "We don't have to keep them secret from anyone, Nikolas. Especially not your family." She paused. "Could I meet them, one day? Dove and the rest?" If she was going to stay with him at some point, it would be best to get along with them, after all.
She leaned against him happily. She did feel better when they were together, which still hadn't ceased to surprise her, given that they hadn't known each other that long, in the grand scheme of things. "Foals, Nikolas. Our very own foals." There was still wonder in her voice. "I never knew such good things could happen when you wandered off into the nighttime." She was teasing him a little with that.
