It had become a city ordinance in Strongton that there be no one, child or adult, left out on the street. The people thought it was a great idea and willingly tacked on a few extra tax dollars to the city to erect buildings for such people. Next door to the city orphanage is the Blayke Iron Home for Children and Teenagers. A few decades later, the building still stands but the city has changed. Accused of encouraging or letting children and teenagers go out on the street or run away and still be taken in as if they were victims, the ordinance was dropped and is run by donations. Most of it was closed down and turned into a thrift store and food bank, leaving only twenty beds to be filled, so the rest were, willingly or unwillingly, sent to the crowded orphanage with hopes to be adopted. What will the remaining twenty do? Escape? Fall in love in a place so difficult? Only fate can decide.| Story | Setting | Rules | Rooms | Groups | Character Profile Skeletons |Announcements |

The Blayke Iron Home for Children and Teenagers is a large two-story concrete box. The first floor is a thrift store and food bank and the second story is the actual “home.”
There are four bunkrooms with on each side with a communal, run-down living room of sorts in the middle of all of them (this is also where the stairs lead). In the bunkrooms, there are five beds and three windows each. In the living room, there is a fuzzy fluorescent light hanging from the ceiling, a lone bookshelf of used and/or donated books, two armchairs, and an old sofa. There is also a worn coffee table and two equally shabby end tables in between the chairs and sofa, one with a table lamp that is used more often than the overhead switch light.
All of the rooms have something wrong with them, be it a hole in the wall or ceiling, heating problems, you name it; it will probably be found in at least one of the rooms.
Each bunkroom has an industrial view; some have the dump, some have the orphanage, some have random buildings, and the few lucky ones have a view of the urban city of Strongton.
There are also four square-ish rooms in each corner, which have become the clubrooms for the different groups in the Home: the Escapists, the Rebels, and the Survivors. The playroom is in the southwestern room and is for all the children to do whatever. All the donated toys go there.

Please try to spell things correctly and use correct grammar. I also ask that you write at least three sentences per post. I understand if you don't know how to spell something or have writer's block, but try please. 3nodding 4. PLEASE check the announcements at least once a day (that's probably as often as you'll need to check, anyway...) to see important story updates, announcements, etc. It is important to the thread! 5. Failure to comply with any of these rules may result in the deletion of your character. 6. You may plan things withing your group. For example, if you want to have a leader or try to escape, have your group have a discussion about it and I will put it up in your method of communication. (See Announcements) 7. The Escapists Their room's location: northwestern corner room Their method of communication: the whiteboard What they do: They want to escape the Home to find a better life while avoiding the orphanage.
The Survivors Their room: northeastern corner Their method of communication: the notebook What they do: The Survivors just want to survive living in the Home as best they can.
The Rebels Their room: southeastern corner Their method of communication: the bulletin board What they do: They want to defy the Blayke Home and its rules for all they’re worth (which, in their minds, isn’t much) in addition to escaping. They are the most likely to form protests, go on strikes, keep pets, etc.
The Children Their room: southwestern corner (The Playroom) Their method of communication: the chalkboard What they do: The Children do what they do best: be kids. They don't really know what's going on and it's better they didn't. | Story | Setting | Rules | Rooms | Groups | Character Profile Skeletons | Announcements |

Marisa tugged on the sleeve of her big sister's shirt. "Kasey, wake up! Kasey..."
Kasey woke up, groggy from sleep and lay, bleary-eyed, staring at her sister. "What?" she mumbled sleepily.
"I'm hungry," she said, putting her hands over her stomach. "My tummy's grumbly," she emphasized, frowning.
Kasey laughed softly at her sister and sat up in her bed. She stretched, bracing for the inevitably cold air of the morning. She went under her mattress and found the cloth bag she kept all the non-perishable food in. "Just a little, ok?"
"Ok," she said, happier, taking the crackers from her sister.

It's amazing they aren't crushed, Kasey thought to herself, smiling. She resolved to skip breakfast today in case there were some hungry homeless people today in the cold weather. She looked at her plastic watch and found that it was already 7:30. Seven-thirty... she thought, confused as she scrutinized the clock, tightening her eyes. It's already seven-thirty? Kasey stood up and looked out of the small square window that was above her bed and to the left a little. It was fairly cloudy and it appeared to be closer to six, not seven thirty.
She put on her slightly dirty bath robe and felt her way into the living room, appreciative of her holey socks, a barrier against the cold air. She turned on the table lamp and let the yellow light bathe the room. Kasey picked up the Strongton Times and began to read about whatever was happening in the world outside of the Blayke Home.

Ian came out of his room for breakfast. It was cold, again, so he had his blanket wrapped around his shoulders. "When is someone gonna get that heater fixed." He made his way to the hall. He saw the sisters in their room. "Morning girls."

*Kenna stepped over the weak floorboard in her room to come out to where everyone was gathered.* "Good morning Ian," she said quietly as she passed him in the hall. "Good morning Kasey, Marisa." she added as she passed the other girl's room. *She shivered as she pulled her old black sweatshirt over her head, before she let her long black hair out of the rubberband she had it in.*

Ian smiled warmly. Speaking with Kenna always worked to put him in a better mood. The cold didn't bother him as much. "Good morning Kenna. I hope you slept well."

When greeted, Marisa shyly hid behind her hair next to Kasey, who smiled warmly. "Good morning," she replied to both of them at once. "Supposed to snow again," she commented, showing them the weather report.
Marisa's eyes lit up as she held her last half-eaten cracker. "Snow?" she repeated hopefully.
Kasey nodded and motioned her over. Marisa curled up into a ball next to her sister, who began to quietly tell her all about the snow, much to the younger sister's delight.

Ian smiled. "Trust me Marisa, it's fun stuff. Maybe later I can take you out in it to play. Would that be okay Kasey?"

Marisa's eyes filled with wonder and yearning. She turned to Kasey. "Can I, please?" she begged, as all young children do.
"Yes," she nodded. Kasey liked Ian; he was a likeable person. "Maybe I can come with you guys," she offered.
