I was having a discussion with a friend about what the definition of humanity entails, as well as what the meaning of life is. Human is a species, but humanity is the way our species conducts itself. I came up with a little peice that I thought was quite moving. Please, let me know what you think.

The definition for the majority of humanity is simple: Do all you can to be the best. Now, in theory, this is a good thing. We should all strive to better ourselves. But, when does it go too far? How many people must be hurt, stepped on, and broken before you feel that you are "complete" in life? In the west, and when I say this I mean mostly America, we live by a simple principle: Step on those lesser to gain what is greater. I however have to disagree. When has humanity turned into destruction? I find this simple matter quite troubling. I live my life doing my best to help others, but how am I to do this when people walk all over each other? Now, I'm not saying everyone is like this. On the contrary. I know many people who would sacrifice themselves for another long before even thinking of doing any selfish or greedy acts. See, I think I have found the answer to this question. But, before I divulge the information, I would like to state this: Humanity is destruction. But, it is love as well. It is finding those to surround yourself with that truly care. It's finding beauty in the smallest things. And for those that understand this, it is us.

Now, the answer to this troubling question.... The question people have pondered (I like the word lol) for centuries: What is the meaning of life?

It's quite simple... The meaning of life is to live.
