User Image The sky had grown dark and Dystral was lying, alone, in a clearing of the forest. She often came to this spot while she was in the area. It was a perfect place to see the stars in the open sky. She liked seeing them, the stars. It made the world feel a little less empty. Usually space made one feel small, but for some reason it gave Dystral hope. Hope for what exactly? She wasn't quite sure. Perhaps hope in herself that she could one day be truly happy. However, she would never admit that. It would make her sound like a sape, and she was no sape. She smirked. If she wasn't careful she would sound like some damsel in distress waiting for her prince charming. That wasn't her at all. No. She lived for herself by herself. Any male who tried to sweep her off her feet she would laugh and snap at. Dystral wasn't the type to fall in love with a man of that type. She needed help from no one. All she needed was herself and the stars. She sat up and stared up at the sky again, looking at one star that seemed to be brighter than the other. Her wings fluttered slowly on her back and her expression fell. Did anyone else watch the stars and think the same things she did? Was she really that alone?

Anikisujihimo prowled through the forest, alone. His childhood friend, had left him, and now he had no one. He did not care though, he never really cared. What comes while come, all he can do is keep his eyes on the horizon and his feet firmly on the ground. This was his philosophy. The cool night air ran through Aniki's fur, sending shiver down his spine as he padded through the forest. Up ahead, he noticed that the trees were thinning and picked up the pace. Then, as he stepped out of the cover of the trees and into the edge a forest clearing, Aniki paused to look around. With his eyes, glowing in the light of the moon, Aniki stared about himself, surveying the area with mild interest. Nothing to see here... but at least I have a clear view of the sky, so I can chart the stars... Padding further into the grass, Aniki sense the presence of another, but that did not deter him. If there is some one here, there is some one here... Must be that the fates have decided we would cross paths...

Dystral stood up and stretched out her forelegs. It was time for her to find a place to spend the night. Sleeping out in the open was just asking for trouble and she wasn't stupid. Her blue eyes cast on more glance at the star filled sky before she made herself look away and move on. Tomorrow night she'd probably return to this spot if she felt the need. She took a step towards the trees, but stopped as she felt one of her sandals slip off. An annoyed huff escaped from her and she bent down to pick it up and place it back on. When she was a pup her shoes would always fall off and she'd always have to get someone to help her. Not anymore, however. She was on her own so she had managed to learn how to many things without the help of anyone. This was something she took pride on.

Aniki saw a black form tinted with white moving through the grass. It seemed to pause for a moment and move back slightly as though it dropped something. Aniki closed his eyes and opened them again, adjusting his sight slightly so that he could get an ever closer look at the female without moving too far forward. His eyes gleamed brightly for a moment and then the light faded, and he could begin to tell the outline of what seemed to be a female dragonfly with lacy wings. Without the slightest change in expression, Aniki curiously began to pad forward again, but he did not care much about the female, and more about the stars. It was no unusual to see dragonfly out and about at night when the sky was so clear, so Aniki didn't think the female's presence to be anything special.

Dystral smiled to herself as the shoe was placed properly on her foot once more. Problem solved. Dystral looked up from her shoes with plans of going to an abandon den she had slept in a few times, but she froze for a moment as she felt like something was watching her. She looked around for a few moments and waited quietly for something to appear. When nothing happened, she figured it was all her imagination. She'd never admit it out loud, but there were times where she was over paranoid, especially after nights where she had those nightmares that bothered her even after she woke up from them. She turned around to start heading to her temporary place to sleep, not realizing she was heading straight into the dragonfly that actually was watching her.

Aniki saw the pretty lady padding towards him and he sat down, watching her as she approached. The moment she was close enough to see him, Aniki turned his head and looked up at the sky. He thought it would be strange, if she came upon him and he was staring at her. Aniki decided he was interested in this new being, she had those unusual wings, and her mind must have been very preoccupied for her not to have scented him by now.

Dystral vision was partially looking at the ground which was the reason she didn't see him as soon as she probably should of. A lot was on her mind right now. When she did see him she jumped a little. "Oh.... So someone is here..." She said, seeming almost annoyed. It wasn't like it was her place or anything, but she didn't like the thought of a lot of dragonflies being around while she was there. It was where she came to think alone after all. A sigh of relief escaped her. At least the male wasn't creepily following her around. His attention was diverted away from her it seemed. Then again... "How long were you here?" She asked with narrowed eyes. Stalkers, she didn't appreciate stalkers.

Aniki turn his head and indifferently peered at Dystral with his glowing blue eyes. She was on edge, Aniki felt the emotion wash off of her in waves, but that did not deter his gaze, nor did it change his demeanor. He smiled slightly and replied while looking Dystral strait in the eyes, "Why... I believe I have been in Di'jai since I was born..." Unlike most Dragonfly, Aniki did not avoid direct eye contact with others when he is talking. He felt that you could tell a lot about another Dragonfly by looking into their eyes, and Aniki liked giving others the chance to look into his eyes and learn about him as well. Aniki felt as though he had nothing to hide, and he hoped this young female was ok with it.

Dystral rolled her eyes at his reply. Sarcasm, she knew that. She loved sarcasm, but only when she was the cause of it. "Right, I never could of guessed that," she retorted and smirked a little bit. "I meant in this specific area of the forest, smart guy. Can you understand the question a bit better now?" Her smirk fell when she noticed his eyes. They were looking directly at her in a way that made her feel like her fur had suddenly fallen off and she was standing before him bare. Despite the small unnerving feeling it gave her, Dystral forced herself to look directly back at him. She didn't want to let him think she was backing down or whatever. Was he challenging her or something...? His looked seemed so intense. His eyes were so bright too. Never had she seen eyes like these...

Aniki smiled yet again, ever so slightly. It was not a demeaning sort of smile, not at all. It was soft, almost curious, as Aniki observed each of new female's reactions. He noticed that she meet his gaze, and he blinked, thinking to himself happily. Aniki was glad she did not feel too threatened by his habit, he would have hated if she thought he was baiting her. The glowing boy was never one to engage in arguments, he thought of them as a waste of energy. Listening to her reply to his sarcasm, Aniki decided to keep playing the same game, "Ah yes, I understand the question now, how silly of me to have misunderstood. Thank you for the explanation..." Pausing, Aniki blatantly did not answer the original question, simply answering that last one that had been asked. He had hoped this girl would be interesting, and he still hoped that she was going to be.

Dystral continued to stare into his eyes a bit longer. "Right.... You're welcome," She said and then turned her head to the side to fix her gaze at a tree, finally breaking the locked stare. "Weirdo..." She murmured under her breath, not caring if he heard her or not. She turned her head enough so that she could still watch him out of the corner of her eyes. She hated to admit it, but this guy was interesting. His attitude had grabbed her attention long enough for her to not just leave the guy right here.... Or was it his eyes? "Well, you could at least give me the name, unless you want to continue avoding simple to answer questions. My name is Dystral..."

Aniki kept his face placid, though a small smile was playing on the edge of his mouth. This girl was very amusing, and Aniki liked the way she didn't seem to be turned off by his antics, "I am weird... really? Why thank you... I would hate to be normal... seems like it would be quite boring to be normal, doesn't it?" He curled his tail over his paws with in a slow motion, as if moving through water and paused. "My name is...quite long winded... You may simply call me Aniki... Hmmm, Dystral...? That has a nice ring to it, it's a beautiful name really..."

Dystral gave a mock laugh. "Well, yeah, but theres weird and then theres weird. I think someone would rather be the unique kind of weird then this sort of weird you're pulling off here." She smirked and tilted her head to the side. Yes, she could be a bit rude, but she didn't care. She liked making snarky comments and the like. Besides, he had been giving her a tough time with simple questions before, he should see it coming in her opinion. Her smirk fell at his last comment however. How sweet... A bit surprising coming from him since all he had seem to do was confuse her. "Hm... Thank you. Aniki is a cute name... A long winded name you say? Must be pretty unique too.."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 08, 2009 3:06 pm

Aniki quirked an eyebrow and couldn't help but chortle, Dystral's rudeness far from insulted him. If anything, he found it complimentary, that she would spend her time and energy on him. He sighed and smiled, "Well... you haven't left my presence yet! So, I am guessing that my weird weirdness, as you have so accurately dubbed it, is quite tolerable." Aniki paused and observed Dystral for a moment. That smirk, that prize winning smirk, it faded... why? Had he surprised her with his sudden compliment? Aniki smiled mentally, if he had surprised her, than he was quite proud of himself. He liked being unpredictable.... "So... my name is cute... but I am weird. Maybe my full name, Anikisujihimo, would fit my personality more? It means 'brother of fire and darkness'... however, my nickname Aniki simply means brother..." Aniki trailed off and gazed at Dystral, wondering what she thought of him...

Dystral sat down as if confirming what he said. He was right... There was something there that was enough for her distant self to stick around to talk to him. "I suppose you have a point there... Unless your weirdness is somehow rubbing off on me to make me strange enough to want to stay." Well, she wasn't a normal dragonfly either, she would admit. She liked the things he said, even though she could see many dragonflies getting offended by some of it. Plus he could take anything she threw back at him. He wasn't walking away either... "Anikisujihimo.... Well, got to say, that is a mouthful," The smirk came back again. "Interesting meanings too... Have no clue what my name means. Never asked my mother. Do you actually have a sibling or is that all for show now?"
