Story:
Quote:
Tales of the Abyss takes place on Auldrant, a planet composed of elementary particles called Fonons. For much of Auldrant's history, only six fonons were known to exist, representing the elements of Shadow, Earth, Wind, Water, Fire and Light; but eventually a seventh fonon, controlling Sound, is discovered. Its discovery brings great chaos: using this newest Seventh Fonon allows one to read the future. One such Seventh Fonist, Yulia Jue, puts in place a future for the world for thousands of years to come, with the promise of unlimited prosperity at its end. This prophecy of the future's set path becomes known as the "Score" and is documented on "Fonstones" scattered throughout the world. The nations of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear and Malkuth have fought over the fragments of these tablets for generations, each uncovering them and hoping to discover the future before the other. Meanwhile, a holy order emerges dedicated to the reading of the Score and the keeping of the peace. This "Order of Lorelei" is headed by a Fon Master and maintains both religious/political and military branches. Finally, the Score and its promise of prosperity lead to a dangerous complacency within the general population of Auldrant; the slaughter of an entire people living on the island of Hod and the destruction of that landmass are countenanced because it was predicted in the Score.
Luke Fon Fabre, the young son of Duke Fabre of the Kimlasca Kingdom is the Light of the Sacred Flame, the scion of Lorelei's power, destined to bring prosperity to Kimlasca. Events drag Luke into the center of a massive conflict between those who would do anything to see the Score carried out, and those who would see it broken forever.

Battle System: Four members fight at a time. You can customize your abilities. Tear for example-you can have her focus on healing by turning off all her abilities except those that heal/resurrect. You can also choose hom much magic points she can use up before dealing physical damage to regain them....etc.....
Enemies can be seen-they can be avoided if you choose. A nice feature about the battles is that even members that were not in the fight gain experience (although slightly less then the battling party) and learn abilities.
Characters:
Luke fon Fabre-Main character, he's the only son of a noble family of the Kimlasca Kingdom. Years earlier he lost all his memories after being kidnapped. Due to this event he hasn't been able to leave his home which leads him to become a bit of a spoiled brat. ((He may be a brat-but he's a fun brat.))
Tear Grants -The lovely and mysterious stranger that is the first to join Luke's party. She looks strict and by the book but has a weakness for cute things. ((I never go into battle without her unless the party seperates or she leaves. She's a balanced warrior with offense, defense, and healing skills.))
Jade Curtiss-Also known as "Jade the Necromancer" and officer of the Malkuth Empire. He's sarcastic, pessimistic, honest and logical. He's strong in both physical combat and magic. ((I wasn't sure if I was going to like him at first, but during the course of the game he became my favorite character!! heart ))
Anise Tatlin-The youngest of the party. Cute, adorable little Anise will gladly offer her hand in marriage to any handsome rich man. As a puppeteer, she can make her stuffed toy, Tokunaga, attack enemies.
((She reminds me of myself actually....))
Guy Cecil-A swordsman in service to the House of Fabre. He acts like an older brother and best friend to Luke. Although he likes beautiful women he's terrified of physical contact with them. ((It's so funny watching the girls torment him-lol))
Natalia Luzu Kimlasca-Lanvaldear-Natalia is the princess of the Kimlasca Kingdom and is also Luke's fiancée. She's a skilled archer and healer. ((She's so annoying.....I only use her in battle when I'm forced to.))
Asch the Bloody-One of the Six God-Generals.....he looks a lot like the main character Luke.......((You actually will only have him in your party a couple times during the game. He's only useful once though because you can't change his armor. Thus later in the game he has much lower defenses compared to the rest of the party.))
((These last two are not playable characters but they're practically always traveling with the party.))
Mieu-A cute little blue fluff ball known as a Cheagle. He's joins Luke's party after being exiled by the Cheagle elder-it's only for a year though I think. The elder gives him the Sorcerer's Ring which allows him to speak with humans and grants him special abilities. ((Mieu's abilites can be used during the exploration of areas which come in handy with solving puzzles and serect areas/items.))
Fon Master Ion-The young leader of the Order of Lorelei, he is calm in most situations, and can utilize Daathic Fonic Artes, though that can be exhausting. ((He's such a sweety...I wants to adopt him!))
Music: It's beautiful....especially 'Yulia's Hymns'.....*sigh*
Rate: 10/10
This was the first 'Tales' game I've played and I LOVED it!! Apparently there are some similar features that the game shares with others in the series such as cooking, titles, skits..... However a new feature I guess is the AD skill "free run" which allows characters to run....anywhere on the battlefield.
On another note.....PLAY IT!! I command you......*shifty eyes*
