Usagi awoke that morning to notice more snow had arrived around her. But, unlike all of the other soquili she'd met, she found no problem to the abundant white that surrounded her body. Her tails absolutely adored the fluffy goodness and her back took to the cold very happily. If there was one thing she enjoyed, it was a chilly breeze to get rid of her overly warm body. Her parents had explained to her the dreaded 'summer' that would eventually come out of nowhere. She hoped by then she could learn how to shed or something. From the sounds of things, there was no way she could survive without cold being around her every day! Any temperature warmer then forty degrees sounded... horrible.

BUT, stressing like most did never got her down or sad. If she really needed to survive then she'd go climb mountains and head to the tops of the slopes. Even though that would require a lonely few months of solitude, it was a sacrifice she'd have to take! She was a fighter and could handle anything for the sake of herself and her family!

So, with a bouncy grin she stood up from her 'nest' of a bed and made her way out of the quiet forest she resided in. She wanted to move on from her crazed thoughts of the future and what-not for the moment. Very close to her was a grove where many soquili would wander in and mingle. Though, from the looks of things, the area was rather quiet and full of untouched snow. Did soquili seriously hate venturing out in the cold that badly? She wondered if she was the only one who could handle the weather as is!

Wintertime was Djamila's favorite season. Sure, the snow and chilly weather was perfect for her body, which was covered in a warm pelt. But that wasn't why she loved it so much. Djamila loved to wake up early in the morning, watching the first rays of the day's sunlight glinting off of a fresh snowfall. With the snow untouched, it's unbroken surface glistened and shined so prettily! Well, that was just how things were this morning. The snow that had drifted in overnight had piled up in drifts around "her" little clearing, though a few tree trunks that happened to have grown in prime locations had prevented too much snow from falling around Djamila's sleeping body. As the young mare stood she shook a few flakes from her mane, and a shiver ran down her entire body. She readjusted the pelt on her back, and satisfied with it's position, she set off for the day.

The area she set off to was another clearing she had noticed a few days past, not too far from where she slept. She had seen a few soquili wander through, but hadn't yet had the urge to approach any of them. The only two encounters she had had since moving to the area had been... slightly trying. Djamila had been put off from meeting anyone else new. But, this morning, she felt fresh and energized! Her outlook was bright, so Djamila made the decision to linger around and hopefully encounter yet another new face. Though, she made the resolution that if it were a stallion who happened upon her, she might have to politely retreat.

A light hum made its way out of Usagi's mouth, and her necklace bounced around as she hopped against the snow. Fresh snow was the best! It was so pure and perfect looking, and she loved seeing her hoof prints make their way after each movement. It was as if she was making her own pretty mark into the world. When she let her tails linger on top of the snow they made a rather ugly marking. So, as she hopped she made sure to lift her tail out of courtesy of the area.

Her eyes blinked suddenly as she saw something stick out in the distance. Could it be? Another Soquili?! She decided to quicken her pace and examine who it was ahead of her. As she made her way forward she realized the brown soquili was indeed a mare, and a very pretty one at that!

Usagi realized that she was approaching the mare from behind, and that wouldn't do at all. It would probably seem as though she was sneaking up in an unfriendly manner, so with a smile she decided to make a big circle and approach the other soquili from the side. Then that meant she could be in the other's full range of view, so no comfort zones would be bothered! Usagi also thought ahead like that, since she'd never want to disturb another in any way. "Hello there!" she finally said while pleasantly trucking her way through the snow. "What a wonderful day it is!" And now it would be even better since she had found someone new! She couldn't wait to meet and examine her better.

Djamila waited. And waited, and waited, and waaaiiiited. It must have been at least an hour before the mare came to the conclusion that maybe there weren't any other soquili around these parts who enjoyed the frigid weather as much as she. As Djamila sighed heavily, a great puff of steam rose from her mouth and nostrils to rise up into the air. She watched as spread into a wide cloud and rose skywards, wishing that she could somehow rise up and away with her breath.

Perhaps Djamila should not have allowed herself to become so enraptured in steam. While she was distracted, someone or something had managed to sneak up behind the usually-alert mare. Her ears were suddenly pinned to her skull, and Djamila turned her head over her shoulder to intensely study the treeline at her back.

It was a very strange thing for Djamila to be caught off guard. But once again, her entire attention and focus had been gobbled up by something petty~ inspecting the trees behind her. She could have sworn she'd heard hooves crunching through the snow. But Djamila couldn't see anyone behind her, so she sighed and told herself that she had just been hearing things. But upon turning around, Djamila wasn't really prepared for what she saw. It wasn't really scary or shocking, but the mare that had apparently materialized in front of her gave her quite the scare! Djamila's eyes widened and she pranced backwards a few paces. But then she stretched her head forwards, sniffing at the mare and inspecting her, as if trying to figure out just where the hell she came from! But as she spoke, Djamila settled down and realized that the mare didn't mean any harm. Chuckling, Djamila's eyes brightened and she smiled. "Well, hello! It is, indeed, a wonderful day!" This mare liked the snow? Oh! How perfect! Djamila had potentially just met her new best friend.

"Oh my gosh! I did NOT mean to scare you!" Usagi shuffled in place and closed her eyes embarrassedly. She had done everything in her power NOT to do what she did! But alas, when the other mare spoke, she realized that all was probably well. And, that the other mare wasn't mad at her or anything! Oh what a relief!

Usagi stared ahead in awe at the brown mare's eyes and colors. She looked rather warm and comfy, just like she herself was! That meant that she was surviving just fine against the brisk temperature. It looked as though she had a pelt or something on her back. It looked rather similar to the one that resided on her own too. "So what is your name!" she finally said, when she realized she was probably staring or something. "I'm Usagi! And I'm sorry if I seem spacey, I'm just surprised to see someone else out here today." But if anything, she was really happy to now have the company. Especially since the mare responded so kindly to her crazed greeting!

"Do you enjoy this weather yourself?" She flicked her tails around at the question and was reminded of the wonderful snow around her. "I think it's always better to find someone else on pretty days like today. That way you can enjoy them with someone else!" Well, Usagi could enjoy any day as long as she had company. But today was especially nice since she had found someone in the perfect conditions.

Djamila was absolutely in love with the way this other mare looked. Everything from the fluffy pelt on her back [was it a pelt, or was it actually attached? Djamila didn't dare to ask.] to Usagi's antlers, and back down to her multiple tails. With all that fur, Djamila was pretty sure Usagi was warm and enjoyed this weather as much as she did~ which was even more delightful! Someone who looked like her, who acted like she did [going out in the middle of winter, right after a snowstorm!] Yes, it was safe to say that Djamila was pretty happy to have met this new friend, and had gotten over initially being scared.

"I'm Djamila," she introduced herself warmly, her eyes bright and her smile broad. "It's really nice to meet you, Usagi!" Djamila exclaimed. "You don't really seem spacey," she began, giggling before going on. "I was going to apologize for maybe seeming a bit off, too. We're both surprised, and for the same reason!" Djamila stopped to laugh again, amused at how things were turning out. But after only a moment's respite, Djamila went on with the conversation. "I do enjoy this weather. Winter's always been my favorite, everything just looks so... beautiful, all covered in a fresh coat of snow. I especially love going out early, right after a snowstorm, and looking at things before the snow gets trampled and hoof-marked," Djamila gabbed and rambled a bit, but she couldn't help herself!

Ah, Djamila? What a lovely name! It fit the other mare so well! It was also amusing that Djamila was just as taken aback as Usagi was from their encounter. So for that matter, Usagi could only take advantage of the fun! "Hmm, well if we aren't spacey, then why not just call ourselves awesome?" She puffed her shoulders out playfully and winked at the other mare. "Yeah, I think awesome fits us perfectly!" Hey, if they had it, they should strut it proudly.

Usagi was relieved to hear her friends answer of the weather. It was comforting that they had so much in common right off the bat. "Ooh I just love it too!" she then admitted, while scrunching her face into a smile. "This weather is absolutely perfect. I can't help but trail out in this fresh snow." she looked at the other mare's legs and noticed she had been walking for quite some time herself. "So, I hope you don't mind me commenting but, your pelt is very beautiful! Especially the colors!" she wondered where it came from! "I must say, pelts and fur aren't something you see everyday, you know?" She wondered if other soquili had given her a hard time or anything. Since.. pelts or fur were usually associated with skinwalkers. BUT, in her and Djamila's case, they obviously broke that stereotype. "If anything I think we are very lucky to be blessed with such comfortable necessities."

Djamila grinned and winked back at Usagi when the other mare suggested that rather than spacey, the pair were just, simply awesome. "I think I like that," Djamila said confidently, bobbing her head in affirmation. Djamila pranced in place for a moment, the beads in her mane clicking together as they shifted around. "Oh, yes. Awesome would be the most fitting word to describe us," the young mare agreed, her eyes glinting bright with delight.

Djamila found herself tuned out to what Usagi was saying as she studied the other mare's pelt, antlers, and tails. Djamila was... envious, to say the least. Despite the fact that she had her own pelt, Djamila liked the way that Usagi's antlers and tails looked. But then Djamila caught note of something akin to a question, and she perked right back up. "Hmmm? Oh! Yes, it isn't something you see very often. Though, most of my family looked like myself~ you know, feathers in our hair, pelts on our back, and whatnot. Does your family look like you, with the several tails, antlers, and pelts?" Djamila bit her lip as soon as the question tumbled from her mouth. Obviously Usagi's family looked like her! Where else would she have gotten her looks?

When the other mare mentioned family, Usagi could only bubble up as she usually did. Ah, so she wasn't the only one who had a unique family? "Wow your family must be as pretty as you are!" she grinned then and tried to think about her own family. Well, they were rather crazy in their own right! But it was definitely a fun circumstance. "My family is very mixed, we all look different. But that's only because my mum and dad have their own styles and such." She'd never considered the many differences she and her siblings had, but when looking at her parents all of the traits started to make sense. "My brother probably looks the most like me, but my sister is very white and fox looking!" Well, she got that from her father.

Usagi then looked past the mare and at the open landscape beyond their standing position. The snow was still so untouched and lovely. That got Usagi a'thinking. "Shall we walk while we talk? Only because there is plenty of land to keep our legs happy!" Usagi had A LOT of energy, so she usually kept herself moving at all times. "Though, if you'd rather just hang out I'm ok with that too." she giggled lightly and hoped she wasn't too picky with her requests or statements. "But, I'd love to hear more about your family- do you have brothers and sisters and stuff?"
