Playground Field
The field look like an average playground. There was mostly grass all over the place, but where the jungle gym, see-saw, swing set, merry-go-round, monkey bars, and trapeze rings were set, they had deep sand underneath and in small radius about them. A safe distance from most of these objects, there was a sand box with much deeper sand with a couple of plastic shovels and a bucket. Here and there were small puddles of mud. Scatter around were a baseball, a soccer ball, a football and many differently color and sized balls. A tree stood at one corner of the playground with an unnecessary tire swing hanging from its strongest branch. (Credit to Tristam Lockhart for field idea + description) This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to NORMAL type attacks.

The stage was set for the first preliminary battle at the Katarina Gym, and Choppi couldn't be more excited. Skipping out, she was smiling in total happiness as she stopped at her end of the battle arena. Today was going to be a good day, a brand new beginning for her and her pokemon. Not to mention for the Gym and it's challenger.
Pulling the pokeball from her right pigtail, she patted it lightly before tossing it into the air above the arena. "Hannah, time to play!" From the pokeball came a bright red flash that materialized into the tiny cubone. Hopping to her side, she smiled up at her watcher and squeaked a happy and enthused, "Cue!"
With a small laugh, Choppi also sent out Picasso, her dear Stantler. Cassie appeared in the same ceremonial manner as her first pokemon. Cassie blinked her big colorful eyes and bobbed her head up and down. "Stant, Stantler."
Looking over to the opposing end of the gym, Choppi spotted the trainer standing there. She watched to see what pokemon she'd have.

Even if she was a police officer, Piney couldn't resist the temptation of challenging the new gym. Sure, her Pokemon weren't trained like they were suppose to be in this kind of situation. But they were just as powerful, and she had faith in them.
"Well here goes nothing." She had to beat two assistants in order to face Luna, who was a gym leader believe it or not. It shouldn't be that hard, even if she had never faced her before. She watched as she sent out her Pokemon, a Cubone and Stantler. But Piney didn't figure out yet who to choose first...

Piney was going first. Ok. Grabbing a Pokeball marked with a cloud sticker, she tossed it up into the air. "Come on out Era!"
She waited a bit while the Altaria got used to the battlefield, even if she was going to be flying around most of the time. After a few moments, she called out her first attack. "Use Dragonbreath, and paralyze the foe!"
That should be easy enough. Even if she didn't know who it was going to be yet. Letting out an exuberant chirp, she flew around in circles, spraying multicolored beams everywhere.

Choppi patted Cassie on the head, and the pokemon headed out into battle. Clip-clopping across the balance beam when it tilted, and out of sheer aim, all the beams missed her. Not rushing into a fight, that was sometimes a strength the Stantler posessed.
Still, it would be hard to hit the flying pokemon. Choppi had to think about this. Then a light went on in her mind.
"Start off with a Swift attack!"
Bobbing her head, the Stantler spotted Era and sent a stream of sharp, and relentless stars after the flying pokemon. If all went well, the attack would connect. It was time to see what Piney would do.

Piney winced as Altaria was struck by the spray of stars. It seemed like it had more power on this field than any other, which wasn't going to be good for her at all.
And the opponent was a Stantler. She knew that they could cause all sorts of trouble with their confusing and sleep-inducing moves. Luckily, she hasn't done any of that yet, but she might be thinking about it.
"Safeguard!"
The Swift made Era falter in her flight but she picked herself back up once the onslaught was over. She trilled a high note as she scattered some silvery dust around her, forming some sort of shield.

"Ignore her, Cassie. Use Calm Mind!"
"Stant!" She bobbed her head up and down and everything in her mind was cleared. Then she was able to concentrate on getting her stats up. This battle was going to be intense, so she'd need it. After a few moments, she opened her eyes and bobbed her head once more.

"Two can play at that game!" Piney didn't want her to get any more hurt than she already was. "Use Mirror Move!"
Era watched at the Stantler focused her mind and her muscles relaxed. She couldn't be in the air when doing that though, and perched on a bar of the playground. She intimated the same Calm mind, both on the inside and out. Except that she was boosting her defense, not her attack.

"Keep it up Cassie!" Choppi cheered. Piney wasn't going to defend herself without them getting some sort of shield as well. "Again!"
Calm Mind one more time, before her brain was distracted once again.
Another head bob as the Stantler forced her defence stats up, just like Era did. Now they had the advantage of both heightened defence and offence.

Aaaagh. This wasn't going to look good. The only thing that Era could do to stand a chance against her opponent was to copy her moves again. Not like it was a bad thing though.
"Mirror Move!"
The Altaria remained on her playground perch, focusing her muscles like what the Stantler did just now. She concentrated her power in her muscles, looking to upgrade her attack instead. When she was done, she flapped her wings and made herself airborne again.

"Cassie, use what we learned from that last battle! Roar!"
The stantler was really mild mannered, but raising her head high she managed to draw in a deepbreath... "STANTLER STANT!!!" Her voice was powerful, and her intimidating antlers seemed to flash in a distracting manner. Her horns were one of her most powerful assets, and so they helped back the roar attack even more.

Era, forgetting what exactly was going on at the moment, screeched out in terror and winged herself towards Piney. The officer sighed, seeing that she took her strategy and she'd had to come up with something new now.
After recalling the bird Pokemon back into her ball, she took out her other one and tossed it up. "It's up to you Twilight! Use Ice Beam!"
The Absol hadn't battled in this kind of field before, and was momentarily distracted by all the toys around. She barked happily and was going to pounce on the see-saw, but heard her trainer's command. Bummer. She turned to the Stantler instead and fired an icy-cold beam at her, cold enough to freeze her.

"Ah!" The plan backfired seemingly, Twilight had good aim.
Cassie was completely frozen solid, only her poor little nose sticking out. The prison glittered in the light from the fake sun. All she could do was wait. "Hang in there Cassie!"
