The violet and pink pup pranced through the forest, her legs moving faster than her body could carry her. Weight shifted and she tumbled forwards, catching herself rather gracefully for a pup her age. What she didn't count on, however, was for the earth to tilt at an angle so suddenly.
With a yelp, she careened down a slope covered by the winter's snow and slush, her paws sliding out from under her. It carried her down a ravine, where she landed in a mess of limbs. "Ow..." That had hurt. She probably had a lump on her tail thanks to the no good earth!
She couldn't stay unhappy for long, though, and in minutes she'd picked herself back up and hopped up against the side of the ditch. It was tall and she was so very small... She pranced backwards, attempting to climb the wall that she fell down, only to slip and land in a pile once again.
Her brows furrowed. Perhaps Uncle Rend was around... Perhaps, if she made enough noise, he would come looking for her. So Lithium raised her little maw to the sky and let loose a barrage of barks, strangled howls and puppy cries. Surely someone would hear them.

Indeed, someone did hear the crying pup, but it wasn't anyone she knew.
The solid bulk of musculed frame slid through the shadows, large paws utterly silent, a ghost pasing through the undergrowth. Not seen, not heard, untill he desired to be. Thickly furred ears flickered forwards at the sudden shattering of the natural quiet. Young, shrill tones loud enough and close enough to drawn the solitary male up short. Ice-blue eyes dipped, seeking out the source of the pitiful sound as lean shape glided forwards, padding silently through the brush to the edge of the drop.
The tan and coffee muzzle slid into view, followed by the thickly fured and rather broad head. Pale eyes staring down at the brightly-painted pup sat upon its haunches. For a long moment, the large male simply looked, watching as the youngster took a breath for another bout of crying howls. Suddenly, in a blur of motion, the male sprang from the edge, dark-coloured coat revealed yet difficult to disassemble from the natural earthy tones of the forest behind, of which he seemed so much apart. Landing neetly a few paces from the pup he lowered his head, shaggy fur rippling with the movement.
Damon was large by any standards, easily dwarfing all but other large males. Against the pup he looked truly massive, thick ruff flowing over bulky shoulders, sleek yet solid body and muscular haunches. White-tipped tail flicked slowly, held out straight, slightly stiff as he took a slow pace towards the pup. He certainly did not look harmless, he looked like what he was. A fighter, a guard, old scars hidden under the protective layer of thick sable-hued fur. Looming over the pup, no expression revealing itself, no hint as to his intentions. Only the fact that he had not yet attacked suggested that he was not intending to do so.

Lithium sat back and bayed and bayed, letting her heart fill her vocal cords. She didn't hear anyone approach. She didn't see the large male until it was way past too late and he was suddenly down in the ditch with her. In fact, with her eyes closed, she couldn't see him.
With a final barkwhine, she dropped down flat against the snowy ground, looking up at the stranger with wide green eyes. They flickered, then focused on him as she realized he was there, looking at her, scruntinizing her. He was such a big wolf... He made Rend look tiny. He made Daddy look tiny! Lithium popped to her feet, peering a little closer.
Were those scars littering his pelt? She cocked her head to one side, a small huff coming from her little maw as she studied the warrior wolf. That's what he had to be. A fighter of somesort...
"I'm stuck," she said simply, looking out at him with a small frown on her face. She was stuck, and he was a stranger. Momma said never to talk to strangers, but it was either talk to him or wail some more. "I'm Lithium..."

Thickly furred ears flickered to the side then back round to focus on the wailing pup. Watching silently as she finally realised he was there, peering up at him. There was no fear in her, at least none that was obvious to a male such as himself.. his lack of contact with other pack members on a regular basis had dulled his knowledge of reading other.. the only one he understood, the only one he had a need to understand without vocal prompts, was his mistress.
Pale blue eyes watched her silently, unwavering, almost eerily. At her comment he glanced up at the ledge of the ditch, several feet above his own head. It was clear she could never make her way out unaided. Looking back as she spoke what he assumed was her name, rather than some other piece of information, he gave a faint nod. After a moment his lips drew back from sharp, gleaming fangs, the move slightly awkward, as if uncertain.
"....Damon"
There, now they were no longer true strangers... She had his name, the only name he possessed that mattered, anyway. It was the name his mistress had given him.
Stepping forwards, looming directly over the pup, the heavily built male lowered his head, fangs gleaming as he stretched his maw wide. deadly fangs passed over her brightly hued fur, yet the touch was surprisingly gentle as he lifted her in his mouth. Gripping just enough to secure her torso, yet light enough to avoid bruising the fragile young frame. Once satisfied she was safe enough he turned, and with the pup dangling from his maw, muscled haunches bunched, before powerful body released, driving them both up the side of the ditch. Sharp claws gripped the earth and rock and in three bounds they burst from the top, soaring over the lip to land neatly on flat ground once more.
Setting the pup down he released her carefully, pale tongue flicking out to clean away a few strands of purple fur that tickled his nose. Lifting his head he stared down at the pup, silent and slightly strange. Yet she was safe now, rescued from the ditch she had tumbled into..

Damon. It fit him, she decided with a silent nod. Now, was he a warrior? Was he the kind of wolf to battle another for territory? Her eyes glittered and she opened her mouth to let all of her questions spill out.
Except she never had time to. In a large step, he was over her. Her little tail tucked instinctively as his jaws clamped around her tiny body, surprisingly gentle for a warrior. She curled herself upwards, head spinning as he crouched and leapt, making it out of the ravine with plenty of space to land!
She was set back down on the ground and stared up at him, silent for about a minute. Then she was up and wagging her entire body, squirming to get closer to him, licking at his muzzle and just being Lithium. "Thank you, Damon! I didn't know if I'd ever get out of there!" she yipped happily, dancing circles around him. "You should come home with me. Momma would like to meet you!"
Or so she thought her mother would like to meet the warrior who saved her life! Oh what a good day this was becoming!
