 The little brown filly swished her long brown tail as she shivered in the cold. It was freezing, there was no need to say that. It had snowed the night before, not too much, but enough to cover the ground with a blanket of pure white. Brown shapes pertruded out of the white being the long bare trees and of course the little brown creature herself. Her little hooves made a soft crunch crunch in the snow as she trotted around trying to keep warm. Her breath came out like soft poofs of smoke like from a fire, except there wasn't a fire in her throat. She was pretty sure of that though it did feel sort of sore recently. Perhaps it was the weather...
Astraea's bright blue eyes darted around curiously. It was odd to look at everything with all this white stuff about. She of course had been born at the start of the new year, but then there hadn't been any snow rather surprisingly. This was the first time she had ever seen such cold white things and she wasn't exactly happy about it. Much too cold. Perhaps the beach would be warmer, but she doubted it slightly. Back home with all the piercingly cold crashing waves of water that didn't seem to be able to freeze wasn't quite fun. She continued to look around the little forest clearing that she had wandered into with interest. Perhaps there was something in here that could distract her from her cold.

 Serenity: She was use to the cold, living in the mountains, and having been born herself in the dead of winter she didn't know a time when there wasn't snow. Today was no different for her. She'd occassionally came down to the valley though and when she did there was no snow, except in a few places, but instead of white she saw many beautiful shades of greens and browns that laid before her, she'd expected to see such this time but was disappointed to find no such thing.
Dual colored hues flickered over to her two leggar as she watched her bend down to gather branches and pile them up. It was that time of the week. Happened once a week that Tewa would come down to the woods just between the valley's village, and the mountain she called her home, here was were she'd collect nuts, and woods, and check the traps that had been set the week before by herself in hopes of snaring some sort of live food for a meal.
The Traps had all been empty so that left Tewa to gather nuts and branch for the trip home, and a couple of the herbs she needed that only grew during this season. She never took more than she needed and always said a thank you to the plant she'd picked for letting her pick it, and to the earth for once more providing for her. Serenity thought it was all strange, and as such wandered off a bit away from Tewa. She was allowed to as long as she stayed in ears reach, least that's what Tewa had told her. Why the two legger spoke to her when she couldn't understand her responses she didn't know but she was happy to oblige Tewa, she loved Tewa.
So off she had happy made her way, to explore these snow covered woods when she saw her. A baby angel!! She was just before her when Serenity snuck up behind her, careful not to make a sound in the snow, and when she was with in a few leaps reach she pounced forward, making a point not to land on the baby angel.*
HI!!!
*She said happily after more than likely startling the poor thing to death*

Astraea gave a jump with fright at the sound of the loud exclamation and the flurry of snow that was sprayed on her, giving a shout of surprise. But upon the discovery that it was merely a shout of greeting not a war cry, she recollected herself quickl. Yet her heart was still racing at the suprised attack and her breaths came in short gasps. As she turned her head and face whoever had shouted and her light blue eyes met with one eye of gold and one of misty grey. She blinked, strange eyes, but pretty nonetheless. These eyes were owned by another filly with an ivory coat and large brown spots.
"Hi." She muttered as she flicked her ears in embarrassment as she remembered her loud exclamation and reaction,"I'm sorry about my shriek, you scared me." She gave a strained smile, hoping that the stranger could forgive her. She hurried on,"Pleased to meet you, I'm Astraea. What's your name?"
