There was too much snow. The dark coated mare observed the area with a bored expression. Her bright blue eyes took in all the snow, it was everywhere. The sky was gray, the sun could not be seen. Either a blizzard was coming or snow would fall some more. Mireille supposed the snowy landscape could be considered pretty but to her it was merely unexciting after seeing so much of it. As a filly she had enjoyed the snow, playing in it and trying to catch snowflakes on her tongue. But after her separation from her parents during one afternoon stroll in the snow, Mireille did not care for it as much as she had in the past.
She would rather have spring.
However, winter had its benefits. It was during winter when she first laid eyes on the stallion Zei as a filly. At first she had been reluctant to go near him since his attitude was less than pleasant but overtime, as she grew, her feelings for him changed. As a young adult she chased after Zei, hoping to change him into a better stallion and as months passed he slowly grew more friendly and less arrogant. Throughout the time she spent with him, her feelings changed again and became something….more.
Mireille shook her head, thinking about the times they spent with one another. Though Zei still hadn’t said those three words out loud yet, Mireille knew he cared for her in his own little way and that was enough. For now.
Their home was complete, Mireille finally had the family she supposed she always wanted though sometimes their little family seemed not as complete as it should be. Rain Curl should be here with them but the older mare was ever so fearful of the unknown because of the accident she had had in her younger days. Mireille would convince her eventually though, perhaps. But for now, being only with Zei and their three colts was enough. Mireille walked away from the tree she had been standing by, walking through the snow in the direction of their home.
Zei had insisted on her coming out today on her own while he cared for their colts; Canon, Zeke, and Ayita but Mireille was bored out of her mind, there was nothing to do. Though Zei wanted her to have a time of quiet before she went back to the noise of their home, Mireille wanted someone to talk to and if the only way was to head back home and crash whatever Zei had been planning for today, then so be it.
