About Me: My Role-Playing Philosophy
Why open an informative thread with my personal opinions and biographical information? Well, sure, there's the vanity issue, but more importantly, I think that if I can expect you to listen to anything I say, I'd better explain where I'm coming from first. Or you could just skip down to the next post, which is where the really informative stuff comes in razz
I've been writing creatively--short stories and long fiction--for 9 years. I've been roleplaying for 6. Because of this, to me, the story is the absolute most important thing, along with character development, in an RP. The one thing I've noticed in the greater roleplay community, in all the places I've gone, is that roleplays go flat after awhile when they start to lose plot; they become all socialization and no story, and they continually lose interest until they wither and die.
That's what I'm here for--to make sure that absolutely never happens. I'm here to help generate and launch plots that will keep participants engaged and interested, and make sure there's always a story. There will be conflict, challenge, drama, and occasionally angst--but I guarantee that it'll never be dull.
So expect plots to start running soon. Expect adventures, inner turmoil, games, sadness, and plenty of things in between. And most of all, expect to enjoy yourself.

Information/Rules
Come to find out, I'm awful at writing rules, so I'm just going to lay this out in FAQ form. Heh.
So what exactly are these plots? --Basically, they run the gamut of just about anything. There might be action-adventure plots, where there is some sort of evil afoot to conquer in the territory; there could be relationship plots, where there is a newcomer who needs to be accepted or rejected; there could be game and challenge plots with prizes to be won; there could be plots that unlock secrets or open new opportunities within the meadow. Anything's possible, really.
Well, okay, that's nice enough...but why bother doing them? --The absolute best reason to participate in a plot, in my opinion, is that ig gives you a chance to develop your characters in ways you'd never thought of before. Perhaps your Tala is quiet and sweet...but when she's confronted with danger, she might just react in a totally surprising manner. And how would you know if it never happened? This way, you can interact with people you wouldn't maybe ordinarily RP with, your Talas and Guides can make new friends, and you can have fun in a fresh new way. What's better than that?
That's all nice...but what do I GET out of it? --If the satisfaction of an exciting roleplay and character development isn't enough for you, many plots will also have rewards and prizes attatched. These can range anywhere from items and custom items to more exotic rewards--anything I and Buffy and Ichigo can come up with razz
Okay, fine. So how do the plots work, anyway? --All right, so there's two kinds of plots, major and minor. A minor plot is just a step up from casual roleplay--there is a story situation set up, and you have the ability to react to it and use it as a springboard for RP. A major RP is a little more intensive. A somewhat complex situation will be presented, and there will generally be numerous steps towards the completion of the story. Prizes may be offered, and people are required to sign up beforehand to keep things orderly. Major plots will generally be launched at least once a month, maybe more often depending on what's going on with the rest of the Meadow; minor plots will fill in the gaps between major plots, and two or three may be going on at any time.
Why do I have to sign up for a major plot? --Just to cut down on confusion later. If I know ahead of time how many people plan to be involved, I'll be able to make sure there's something for everyone to do. Also, it will keep me sane as I try to keep things moving forward, so people aren't randomly popping in. Finally, signing up ahead of time makes me think you'll probably stick around for most of the plot, and will keep you from disappearing. So don't worry about it--if you ask to be involved, you almost certainly WILL be.
What are your rules for plot RP? --I request that you try to at least follow the storyline. Making your own small forays into character development, relationship building, and investigation is fine. Totally ignoring the story or trying to change it to fit what you want? Not so fine. If you really want to do something specific...start your own plot, or PM me your idea and we'll see if we can work something out. --Try to be a little serious about joining plots. You're welcome to join, but keep in mind before you set up that there's a running storyline, and by becoming part of it you become necessary to its completion. So if you just suddenly stop posting, and there's an enormous hole in the plot. Just keep that in mind when you enter, and if something comes up where you can't finish, try to gracefully exit the RP. Or in an emergency, PM me and I'll figure something out XP --Don't beg for prizes! Yeesh, you should be roleplaying for the fun and challenge of it, and the prizes should be a nifty bonus. Sit back and enjoy yourself, and if you get a reward--woo for you! I will not tolerate begs, bribes, threats, or other juvenile actions of the sort. --Put a little bit of thought/creativity into your posts. I'll be giving you a wealth of information to respond to...so you and everybody else will get the most out of it if you really do start enjoying it razz --All the rules of Talaye Meadow are in place--PG-13, keep OOC to a minimum, and just behave yourselves.
Everything kosher? Excellent. Read on!

Planned PlotsThe best part! Get a sneak-peek of the plots I have planned in the future, so you have a good idea of what will be happening and when it might launch. Future Plots Plot Title :: Type :: Prospective Launch Date *Cupid's Curse :: Comic/Adventure :: January 20th *Snowed In :: Adventure/Puzzle :: February 20th And, better yet! You can suggest to me what you'd like to see. I'd love your feedback! Tell me what you like, what you don't like, what you want to see more of, what you want to see less of. If you have an idea for a plot, PM or post. If you have a character that you think would lend himself nicely to a plot, let me know and I'll see how I can work him in. I'm flexible, and would love to work with you people. So there you have it! Let me know what you think and want...

*grin* Thanks. Seems only fair that with all of the Valentines day Tala madness that there should be something RP-wise hopping along with it...working out the logistics of all of it in my head. Hope nobody lynches me if it isn't up to snuff sweatdrop First one and all that...
