So most of you guys know me and that I am a culinary student and all that fun stuff. So a project that I have to do is find cuisine native to a country...so naturally I chose Scandinavia. I mean...duh. So anyway, I think there's a couple of people in here that are from there and so I would really like your help. I just want to know some authentic recipes if available and just whats popular.

No one who posts here regularly, anymore, is from Scandinavia.

My Hollow No one who posts here regularly, anymore, is from Scandinavia. Ehh... I tend to disagree we can't get help. Mana is almost from Scandinavia. Finland is perhaps not a viking land, but I bet Mana knows more about Swedish cuisine than anybody of us.

I don't know why I should know anything about Swedish cuisine, well other than that they love meatballs.
And people... there are such inventions as Google and libraries that could help out in situations like these. They might prove more useful than asking here, where obviously no one is Scandinavian. I also apologise for living in a non-Scandinavian (= useless) country.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go cough up lungs and spit out some bloody goo.

That's why I suggested that perhaps you have some knowledge on this. If you don't - too bad for Val, fine with everybody else.

I am Scandinavian, goddammit! I protest!!
But I also recommend to be sure that you know that Scandinavia is not a country but includes Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Finland can be counted to belong to Scandinavia too. But this is just nitpicking.
Meatballs is very common and also traditional food here in Finland as well as in Sweden. What else... Soups with meat and potato at Sweden too?
I can try to help out. What people eat now days 'traditionally' is bit different than what it has been for example hundred years ago. I do have knowledge of these things.
So. PM if needed.

Well I have a few books on cuisine from there but only a couple because I live in a very uncultured area. I also have used the internet but I don't know whats reliable. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't Americanized. Food that is actually eaten and is most commonly seen. I'm sorry if this approach isn't appropriate, but I wanted to gather what I could. Also, I understand Scandinavia isn't a country itself, but for my project I am doing all of the actual countries within it. But thanks anyway guys.

kacisko Schutzhund I am Scandinavian, goddammit! I protest!! But you should come to us more often! Then we will consider you as posting regularly wink . Aye, I should. But I'm more often just reading and watching what's happening. And for the topic itself. FinfoodFinnish foods overviewFood from Finland - Just ignore the overflowing praising and there is some real information too.. Culturally, Finland can be count to belong Scandinavia at least judging by culture, just as my opinion. To where else we would belong? We're the troublesome between the lines case, but much of what and how we eat is similar to other Scandinavian countries.
