It had stormed all that day, she could feel it against her frozen back, the dark coated mare had weathered the latest of storms without the cover of any kind, she was used to storms like these or so she had thought. Alaska moved close to the backs of the native village that a friend had told her about, their voices had guided her to the place and her hooves carried her through the deep snow. She was wary of the place and opted to head back into the wilds where she knew the dangers, besides the fridge cold.
By now the storm had passed and the wind had calmed, the snow settled around her hooves as she remained under the tree she had taken sheltered beneath. Blank eyes were open and starting only into their own oblivion. The moon was shining over head and the lands draped in white once more, slowly Alaska trudged out into the snow, it coming up to just about her knees now. Sweeping motions with her fore hooves carried her gradually further away from her salvation. The front marking on her back lite within the dim glow of the moon, yes she was like a beacon to those that preyed on her kind. She didn't know what she would meet, or even who. She just knew it would certainly be interesting.

He too was a beacon in the night, white coat gleaming under the caress of his Lady Moon. His wings, of course, shielded some of the bright light, trapping what little warmth there was to have against his body. He was unconventional, to say the least, more on a happy stroll tonight than on the prowl for something to ease hunger of any sort. It was just too beautiful a night to spend the time sleeping when he could be wandering through the crisp, freshly fallen snow. He could spend the hours of daylight sleeping, absorbing warmth to get him through the next night while doing so.

It did seem that she wasn't the only one out on that crisp winter night. Stopping at least a couple of times, Alaska moved further away from her shelter and more into the open, hr dark coat standing out against the white of the snow, though her white back might have made it look like she were injured if looked at quickly. The second time she stopped, she thought she had heard someone moving about. Ears twitching, she stood there listening, her muzzle raising a little to sniff at the air.
There was someone or something out there with her, she wouldn't be alone if they came her way. Keeping her silence, Alaska shuffled at the snow a little, scratching down to where she thought was solid ground, frozen ground at that. Lowering her head sne brushed her muzzle against the ground feeling for the brickly grass from the year before, ah, there it was. Keeping in mind that it wouldn't be as good as fresh grass that was sure to come, it was at least something to eat. Ears still perched forward on the top of her head, Alaska remained vigulant of who or what might have been there with her.
After a couple of mouthfuls of dried grass she raised her head again and spoke. "Hello?"

He caught her scent before he saw her, even before he heard her, the warmth of it reaching his nose even in the cold darkness. He tilted his head up, pulling his wings closer to his body as he approached the mare, pausing to bow his head. "Good evening."
