It was Saturday, and Saturday meant the family migration to the park. The twins were busy attempting to build a snow man off near the park benches, and Nataya was sleeping on the park bench, her head in Mother's lap. The only one not near this happy scene was 'Zuba; she was busy having fun of her own. Usually, she'd be playing with her older sibling, but she was having one of her "naps", unfortunately.
She kicked at the snow experimentally, watching it puff up in a cloud of white glittery flakes. That was pretty and all, but not exactly entertaining. The jungle gym was much to slippery to play on, and the swings were freezing cold. There was NO way she was going to join the twins, so what was she to do? Frustrated, she kicked the snow, a bit harder this time, watching as nature's glitter was sent flying in a rather violent manner.

As usual, the youngest of the small family was the one who got to spend time with the guardian of the family. However, another child had already managed to take that spot from Aludra; a strange, snakey kid with a tail instead of legs who screamed a lot. From what he'd seen of the other so far, Aludra really didn't like him. Sure, Alu through his fair share of fits, but this child didn't even have a reason to be screaming when he did. Noah said it had something to do with the kid being 'death'. That didn't make any sense either. Obviously, he was completely alive. Stupid Noah...
Of course, having to hang out with his older sister had never bothered Aludra in the least. She was, after all, much better than the stupid guardian whom he was supposed to call his father; even if she didn't have any money, and couldn't buy him stuff. That information irrelevant, it was with Adhara that Aludra had arrived at the park with. Given his dislike of clothing in general, as well as his unfortunately-placed wings, the most they could get him to wear was a pair of sweatpants, one of Noah's sweaters, and a pair of shoes with thick socks, holes cut in them for the little wings to poke through.
When they arrived at the park, there was a person who immediately caught bother of their attentions, though for different reasons. Adhara recognized her as 'Zuba, who'd been a friend of her's since she was a toddler. She was rather surprised that the other girl hadn't grown yet, but wasn't going to comment, wondering if, like so many other people, the girl wouldn't recognize her. Aludra, however, noticed the strange appearance of the other, as well as the gold headwing that she sported. A faint smile graced his features and, as Adhara took a seat on a bench and pulled out a knitting project, he dashed off toward the girl, halo grasped in his hand. When he was close enough, he stood on his tiptoes in the cold snow, the wings on his ankles folding firmly against his legs to stay at least a little warm. He peered up at the wing, before pointing to it. "Want.

'Zuba blinked, looking down at the little boy, a curious expression spreading across her face. Who on Gaia was this....? Oh well, there was a better question to ask, anyways. "Want what?" she asked, bending down to his level. She wasn't sure what the kid had been pointing at.
She blinked, looking at the halo. "Pretty." she said softly, looking at it. "What is?" She'd never seen one of those before...was it a frisbee of some kind? She wanted a pretty frisbee like that...but she probably didn't deserve one. So far, she hadn't even noticed her friend was over near the benches, nor the fact that she had grown.

Aludra smiled slightly, in a rather devious way, as the girl knelt down to his level. He outstretched one of his hands and wrapped it around the end of the golden wing on her head, but didn't pull, his hand only partly clasped around the strange feature. It was soft and felt like a bird, kinda like his sister's wings did. He wanted a bird. Someone should buy him a bird. Or maybe he could find one somewhere in the park. His eyes drifted a bit, before he focused on the older girl once more, as well as the wing that he was holding loosely. "Want."
When she commented on the halo, he frowned just a little bit at and held it close to his chest, as if she was going to snatch it away from him all of a sudden. "Halo. Mine," he stated with a frown, before his hand slipped from the feathered wing and poked gently at her cheek and running a finger down it. Her skin was scaley like his was, but it was the same colour as Devan's. And it wasn't all patchy- it covered an entire half of her body. "Lucky..." he mumbled, as though having solid scales would make it so that the other was never itchy, even if that probably wasn't the case, at all.

'Zuba blinked as the younger boy took a hold of her wing, chuckling slightly as her wing ruffled. He wanted her head wing? Why did everyone want it? It wasn't anything special or cool. "Can't give. Sorry." she said, shrugging and offering the boy an apologetic look.
"Halo pretty." she commented, blinking as he pulled it away. What had him so defensive? "Halo yours." she confirmed, nodding once. She looked a bit confused as he poked her scales; why was it little ones always had to things she could barely comprehend? "Why lucky?" she asked, tilting her head slightly. She didn't think it was very lucky

Aludra pouted heavily at the idea that he couldn't have her headwing. But it was so pretty!! It was all gold and big, unlike the stupid wings that he bore on his ankles, completely useless and hideous as far as it's colour was concerned. It's feathers weren't that soft, either, some weird feeling mixed with his scales. They were all icky-feeling. At the negative thoughts, the wings fluttered a bit, before fluffing up and pinning themselves against his ankles and away from the snow.
"Buncha scales. Same place," he stated with a nod, pulling up the arm of his sweatshirt to show the inconsistent scales that he harbored. He ran a finger along them, and they bristled when his fingers crossed them, making them itch. "Less scales itches," he stated, scratching at the greenish yellow scales that covered his entire body in patches. He pulled the sleeve down and pointed back up to 'Zuba. "Devan has grey," he added, referring to his friend. Did that mean that she was related to Devan?

'Zuba noticed the pout, but what could she do? It wasn't like the earwing was detachable or anything, unfortunately. She then motioned to her scales. "Lots of scales itch sometimes, too." she said, absolutely sure that having her scales in one place was no where near as good as having them in cute little patches. "Luckier." she said simply, motioning to Aludra. "Have tail." Oh, you could tell by her tone she was definitely envious. He had a tail, just like Vincent and Mother Charna. It wasn't fair! She wanted one! But then again, he probably deserved one more than her, so she said absolutely nothing on the issue.
"Devan?" she asked, blinking. "Who?" She had no idea who Devan was, so naturally, she was a bit curious.

Aludra blinked a few times, trying to grasp the thought that larger patches of scales would itch like his did. Was that right, or was she making it up to be... what was that word... oh, he didn't remember. Stupid Noah and his weird words. Aludra fished in one of his pockets before producing a little bottle of lotion that he'd found... somewhere, in a store or something like that, that smelled like raspberries. He looked between the girl and the lotion, trying to decide whether or not to give up such a small thing. He held the bottle out to her. "Some," he stated, indicating that she couldn't use a lot of it. It was his, after all. "Itches less," he added. That was what Noah had told him at least, and it usually was true- lotion made his scales itch less.
Unconsciously, Aludra released a soft growl at the thought of being considered luckier, and shook his head. "Not lucky," he stated firmly, using that voice that Adhara used when he got into her stuff. His tail flicked a bit above the snow, before wrapping around one of his legs. "Cold a lot. No clothes for tail," he replied, clearing up the fact that having a tail was a good thing. In truth, it was usually cold, especially in the current weather. The stupid thing made it hard for him to go outside. He was glad to have a tail, true, but at the same time, it was a hassle.
"Devan," he said again, as though confirming the fact that he had said that name. He thought back for a moment, recalling the other boy he'd met however-long ago. "Looks like 'Ludra. Kinda," he said, pointing to himself. "Grey scales. Brown hairs. Pink fluffies," he added the last part, making a flapping motion with his hands to indicate that he was talking about the other's wings. "At church. Was a goyle, to protect big places," he said with a few nods of his head. He liked talking about his friends. It was actually interesting conversation. What wasn't too surprising was the fact that 'Zuba had gotten him to say more than he'd said since living with his new family. What luck?

'Zuba took the lotion, looking confused until he explained. She then held it back out to him, offering a faint smile at the gesture. "You keep. I'm fine." she said, nodding once. He didn't need to waste his lotion on her! "Can pat." she explained, gently patting her itchy cheek. That was a trick her sister had learned as a toddler, and had happily taught her the trick.
'Zuba was a bit surprised at the growl, then thought a moment. Well, that made sense...but there had to be a way around that problem. "Use sock?" she suggested, smiling slightly. That would work, especially if it was a wool sock. "Wish I had tail...'s useful." Well, for hitting things, anyways.
She then listened to the boy describe his friend, actually interested. "Sounds nice. Pink fluffies....? Oh, pink wings?" She asked, pointing to the wing on her head for clearification. She wasn't sure what a goyle was, but from what Aludra said, they protected big places, so she now knew a little about them. She had no idea how great an accomplishment she had made just by getting him to talk.

Not one to refuse something offered back to him, Aludra took the lotion back and shoved it in his pocket to go along with the other weird things he kept in their- a few other little lotions, some marbles, gum that Noah had given him, and a light-up bouncy ball that Adhara had bought for him earlier in the day. 'Zuba's next comment confused him slightly, and he glanced up with interest. "Pat...?" he asked, patting his own cheek softly. He did know what patting meant, that was true, but he wasn't sure what it had to do with not needing lotion.
"Sock..." Aludra mumbled softly, before plopping down in the snow right there, pulling off one of his shoes, and then the sock afterward, not hesitating to let his foot fall right into the snow. Turning a bit, he grabbed the end of his tail and shoved the sock onto it. It didn't cover very much more than the top, and it bent funny partway through. He shrugged a bit, waving his tail around some more and then looking at the foot in the snow. He flexed his toes a bit and smiled at the weird feeling of the stuff, despite it being cold. Not wanting to be reprimanded for coming home without a shoe, or getting Adhara in trouble for letting him, he wiped the snow from his foot and pushed it back in the shoe. The wing on that ankle fluttered just a bit, before settling back against his leg, where it was warmer.
He simply shrugged at the girl's wish, and pointed to his tail, then to her wing-ear. "Wish could trade," he replied, a bit disappointed that such a thing wasn't possible. Really, at least the kids like them should be able to trade... parts! Especially if they didn't like the ones they already had. The smile came right back to his face at the mention of wings, and he nodded rapidly. "MmHmm, wingses," he replied, surprisingly childish compared to his usual manner of speech. "Liked him. Pretty. Want to see again," he rambled, before realizing that he had no idea what this girl's name was. He pointed toward her. "Who?"

'Zuba nodded. "Pat. It helps." she said, watching as he patted his own cheek. Sure, it only temporarily helped, but it saved a lot of lotion. She did look a bit surprised as her took a seat in the snow, taking his shoe off right then and there. Wouldn't his foot get cold.....? She examined how the sock fit over his tail, brow furrowing in thought. "Longer socks?" she suggested, tapping her finger against her chin absently. That would help cover more...or maybe the boy could get a special tail-sock that would fit better?
'Zuba nodded. "Agree. Wish that too." she said, sighing. After all, as far as she was concerned, she'd look MUCH better with a tail than with her odd, single golden earwing. She listened to the child talk about his friend, listening politely. "Azubahiel....'Zuba. Nice to meet." she replied to the question, holding a hand out to the younger boy. "You?"

Still sitting on the ground, not noticing the fact that his pants were probably soaking through, Aludra watched 'Zuba, nodding a couple times at what she said. Despite that, he liked the lotion too much to want to pat rather than using it. After all, as far as he'd observed now, Noah would get him anything that he wanted, and Adhara would when she had money, so it wasn't too much of a surprise. Plus, the stuff smelled really good, which he liked. He tilted his head slightly at the thought of her wishing that they could trade as well. "Why would want?" he asked, pointing to himself to exemplify that he was talking about all his own bizarre features. "Icky wings, too?" he added, extending his sockless foot and fluttering the little ankle wing a bit, showing off the icky green colour that he'd never been fond of, that also happened to take up most of the expanse of his body.
"Nice name," he stated, hoisting himself to his feet and shaking her hand, just so that he didn't automatically assume that she was trying to help him up. He pointed to himself, "'Ludra," he stated, nodding a couple times before looking rather thoughtful. She had a nickname, which he didn't have. That was easily remedied, however. "Alu," he added, in the same fashion that Azubahiel had stated her own nickname, smiling a bit. "Nice to meet, too, 'Zuba," he said, nodding a couple times. He wasn't even going to try to say her full name; he could barely even say his own, so it wasn't too much of a surprise.

'Zuba blinked at the question. Why did she want things like his tail? His question was met with a shrug. "Dunno....'s cool?" she offered as an answer. To be honest, she'd never thought about why she wanted something; she was usually content just knowing that she wanted it. She looked at his little ankle wings. "Not icky. Pretty." she said, confirming this with a nod. He had one on each ankle! He was so lucky...
She smiled faintly, giving his hand a little shake. "Alu...'s pretty name, too." she complimented. Okay, so really, she liked it because it wasn't as much of a mouthful as her name was, but still.

Aludra chuckled a bit, an odd noise coming from someone as small as he was, shaking his head just a bit, pink hair falling across his face. "Nah. Useful sometimes. Not cool," he stated, nodding to either side a bit, before sticking his tongue out. "Blah. Anklewingses not pretty. Icky colour. 'N not good for anythin'," he said, a bit of his sister's way of speaking sticking to his speech. He didn't think that his wings were very nice looking. After all, look at the beautiful gold feathers that 'Zuba possessed? How could something like his tiny little ankle wings so much as compare? He pointed up at her headwing once again. "Prettier, still. Gold, not icky-green. Gold better. Stupid Noah says so." 'Stupid Noah' probably didn't back up the fact that he was referring to his guardian.
He shrugged a bit. "Don't think so. 'Lot like 'Dhara's name. But different star, 'stead," he stated with a subtle frown. That probably wouldn't make sense to anyone who didn't know that both he and his sister were named after stars in Canis Major, and that he'd been made privy to such information. Oh well. Their loss, not his.

"'S cool to me." 'Zuba insisted, nodding once. "And not icky color...pretty green. Gold over-used. Much over-used, so not as good." Atleast, that's what she thought. After all, if it was on her, it couldn't be that good, now could it? No, of course it couldn't. She paused, her face going a little blank as she thought. Noah? Wasn't that Adhara's dad? Well, maybe it was another Noah....that's when he mentioned said friend.
"Know Adhara?" she asked, curious. Maybe they were cousins or something? "Mean different star?" she asked, almost as an afterthought. She didn't get what he meant, comparing the two names to stars. Astronomy was not her strong point.
