Loa had stayed away from the strange line of living had gone toward the lake the night before; but she had kept an eye on them and the light that their lanterns cast. They had gathered near the waters edge and brought with them lanterns and bits of paper with string. The living were no longer near the lake or as far as she could tell even in the forest; they hadn't come from the Orchard and Manor near where she made her home, but from some small village within the mountains. The living were gone but they had left the bits of colorful paper tied to the tree and several of the candles had been left allowed to burn down over night by the shore of the lake.

Loa had been watching for some time and when she was certain there was no one left to care she moved forward cautiously and somewhat curiously to see what it was that these living had left in the forest. It didn't take her long to reach the tree, pausing near one of the now burnt out candles she circled it eying the melted wax. Most of the candle was long gone but looking over the bottom of what remained she could make out what appeared to be red paint upon the white candle. Reaching out she tipped the candle slightly to get a better look at the paint but whatever the symbol was it was too obscured for her to read now. The little ghostling paused thoughtfully pondering what could have once been on it before moving closer to the tree.

The various colored papers fluttered in the evening wind as she got closer, even if it was some strange custom of the living the tree did look rather impressive. With only a moment more of consideration she moved up the trunk of the tree and moving to the closest branch and closest paper. Sitting quite comfortably on the branch the little Ghostling pulled one of the papers over, discovering it folded she opened it up to read it, childish handwriting was scrawled across it.

"I wish Davies would come home safely." Eying the paper a moment Loa tossed it to the side before grabbing up another and reading it this one was in a strong almost overly neat bolded writing, "I wish Josie would love me." Loa couldn't help but giggle at that one; hopping up with just slight glances at the others it seemed that each was a wish of some sort written by one of the living. Looking up she realized dusk was coming quickly and others of her kind would soon be out, she wondered if they also would find this place.

The birthing process was something she thankfully was not able to percieve. All at once there was a strange feeling of being immersed in liquid or very foggy and dense mist, and then the whoosh of air that made her stomach flip with horrific surprise. Not cognizant of what was going on, the whispling panicked for only a moment and broke the gentle spell that had been keeping her afloat higher up in the tree. Leaves rustled beneath and gave way, the newborn flailing slightly as wisps of scale-like smoke trailed from her small body, seeming to pulsate with an aura of dim light against the dusky sky as she slowly plummeted, swaying a little in direction much like a slip of paper in a non-existant wind.

Eventually the whisp grew conscious enough to be able to somewhat control her pseudo-limbs and rebelled against the gravity that had almost sent her falling right onto another denizen who was relaxing on a branch, reading letters. The whisp blinked heavily with some sort of strange heaviness over her lids, her senses taking their time to return as she mumbled blearily, "Whatthehell . . . ?" Even the various lantern lights could not provide her sight enough clarity; it looked like this creature had a painted face of some sort.

Loa paused as she was about to reach up and pick another paper from the tree, blinking the ghostling looked around the area before her eyes fell toward the wisp that had found it's way to her. Or perhaps to the tree the living had left, whatever the case Loa moved toward the edge of the branch she was on to investigate the wisp.

The young spirit seemed confused, curiously Loa wondered if she even knew where she was in the forest. Raising a hand Loa waved slightly in a much more friendly manner then she usually had, " 'lo!" she called to the little wisp, perhaps it knew something of the humans and what sort of custom this was.

Moving down from the tree Loa moved closer to get a better look at the wisp, "I didn't see you come up..." with a pause Loa looks over the area as if expecting others to show up at any moment as well. No telling how many others this wisp had lead to this area!

"That's 'cuz I didn't," the Whispling replied with a slight huff, trying to jog her nonexistant memory as to how she had arrived there in the first place: an expansive and hollow space was all she faced in her mind, a disturbing predicament that sent a slight shiver down her wavering form. But enough about that! "Okay, Dreadlocks, mind tellin' me where the heck this place is?" Her eyes darted suspiciously about, every flicker of candlelight or lanternflame causing her to jerk her vision towards it; why, even she had no idea. Being thrusted into an unknown realm without any previous memories and first consulting with a stranger that carried skullheads around her hips for fun would do that to someone. The Whispling wavered in position, still unaccustomed fully to the fact that she had no limbs to keep her on solid ground unlike her larger companion. Seriously, what was up with that?

Loa pushed herself up and away from the wisp expelling a bit of power to send a wind of force toward the other. Not enough to be overly forceful but perhaps to feel like a strong wind, "it's the forest, I'm not sure what you would want to call it. But it is close to my home..."

"I am Loa," eying Merrill a moment she seems to consider, "who are you? Little lost whispling?" For now she was here more out of boredom rather then anything else perhaps the whispling could provide some form of entertainment.

"This tree here, some mortals have put their wishes on. And what I believe is some sort of offerings..." Loa shrugged slightly as she spoke.
