It was night, though fairly early into it as far as Yukino was concerned, and the moonlight reflected back upon her friends as well as herself. The ice was illuminated with a nice glow from the clear night sky, not a cloud in sight. Excitedly, Yukino made her way toward the frozen over lake, peering into it to see if she could see through it. Unfortunately, the ice was too thick for that, but at least it meant it was good for skating. "I wonder where the fish are," she pondered aloud happily. Were they swimming still beneath the ice? Were they sleeping beneath logs and among the reeds, waiting for winter to be over? Or did they migrate someplace more tropical? Yukino mentally laughed at this option. Fresh water fish wouldn't migrate to the ocean! What a silly concept. She looked over to her friends to see what they thought.

Gwen slowly followed behind Yukino, sitting down beside her to look at the ice as well. She had never seen a body of water frozen like this, only snow and icicles. She looked at Yukino and tilted her head. "The fish? ...Hmmm.." She seemed to be thinking. "I suppose they are still down there under the ice. I'm not sure...but father has mentioned ice fishing before."
Castiel crouched slightly behind the bushes as the girls talked. Then suddenly he dashed out right onto the ice. He seemed to be fine at first, but suddenly he lost balance and began sliding across the ice. "Whoa! You guys have to try this!" he exclaimed as he flapped vigorously, trying to regain balance.

Yukino nodded at Gwen, "Yeah, your right...ice fishing. So they're still around..." Suddenly Castiel dashed out upon the ice, and Yukino giggled as he slid across. He was like the complete opposite of Gwen, though that wasn't a bad thing. Yukino liked how exciting he was, and being friends with him would never be a bore. Eagerly she stood up and said, "Come on Gwen, let's go," as she ran out to join Castiel on the ice.

Gwen looked at Yukino, smiled and nodded. "Alright. ..but...be careful." She watched uneasily as Yukino ran out onto the ice. She cautiously took a few steps, then, seeing it wasn't too hard to walk on, she picked up her pace to meet them in the middle.
Castiel beamed. "Yeah! That's how you do it, Yukino!" He skidded closer to her after he finally regained his balance. "It feels weird walking out here, doesn't it?"

"It does feel a bit weird," replied Yukino, her legs wavering precariously beneath her. She imagined being close to the ground helped a bit though. "I'm sure I'll get used to it though!" Looking over toward where Gwen was, she cheered her on, "Whooo! Go Gwen! You're doing it!" She felt her legs begin to slip to the point of no recovery, and saved herself from slipping by sitting down. It felt odd to be sitting on the ice, but at least it let her gain her balance again.

Gwen looked up and smiled at Yukino's encouragement. As soon as she made it next to Yukino, she sat as well. "It is quite cold, isn't it?" She traced little shapes with her paw in the ice, wondering how one would get to the fish below.
Castiel kept his eyes on Yukino. He had moved toward her when she looked like she might have been slipping, but, seeing he wasn't needed, he stopped. "Hey, you think I can keep my balance after I land from a jump?"

Yukino giggled at Gwen's comment. "Yeah, it's freezing!" She smiled as she looked at the little shapes Gwen was drawing, then turned her attention to Castiel. She thought for a moment. "Hmmm...I bet you could!" She replied, thinking of his wings again. She debated getting up again, and decided to do so after Castiel attempted to keep his balance after jumping.

Gwen looked blankly at her brother, curious to see if he could do it. She had no doubt he would try it until he could manage it. She sat contentedly for the time being.
"I bet I could too!" he exclaimed. "Ready?" He crouched down a bit, grinned then sprang up to leap into the air. As he began to jump, one of his back feet slipped out from under him and he stumbled backward, falling on his back.

Yukino watched with a wince, and carefully skated over to where he was to help. She offered a paw to help him on his feet again if he wanted it, saying, "Are you okay?" She was sure that he wasn't seriously injured, but he might have had the wind knocked out of him.

Castiel looked at her paw a little dazed and started to take it, but then quickly jumped up. "Don't worry, don't worry! Wasn't expecting that is all." He pushed her back a little, feeling her slide as he pushed; he laughed and raised a brow. He grabbed her paw and pulled her back to him, feeling her slide again.
Gwen stayed where she was. She didn't show any emotion, but her tail swished a bit, showing she was enjoying the show.

Yukino giggled as she was slid back and forth by Castiel, putting her paw back on the ice when he let go. "Gonna try again? Practice makes perfect after all." She was certain he would. He just seemed the type of kit who wouldn't give up. If her intuition was correct, then it was a very good quality of his. That and his overall fun personality.

Castiel rolled his eyes slightly. "Of course, of course. Now.. just don't get in my way. You might get hurt." He slid back a little ways and then crouched once again. He flexed his wing and then sprang into the air, successfully this time. As he came back down, he landed a little awkwardly and stumbled a bit, but flap his wings to keep his balance. "Ha ha! You see...you think you could do it like that?"
Gwen was growing tired of simply sitting and watching, btu she wasn't sure what to do. So she silently stood and began to practice walking on the ice.

Yukino nodded. "It'll probably take a few tries, but I think I could get it!" She smiled excitedly, thinking about how she was going to do it. She decided that it would probably be easier with a bit of a head start, so she stood up and slid forward a couple feet. She crouched down, still sliding forward slowly from momentum, and pushed directly upward into the air. Smiling as she went upwards into the air, she landed roughly on the ice, her legs clearly giving way underneath of her. "Whoa!" she cried out as she lost her balance, essentially failing this first time. She wasn't about to give up though!

Castiel watched as Yukino did her amazing jump. But as soon as she started coming back down, he could tell she wasn't going to land quite right. He charged over towards her as fast as he could to make sure she was alright. But his speed made it difficult to stop, and he ended up enable to stop. "Ahh! Are you... aaaaalright?" he managed to get out as he slid past.
Gwen paused her walk to watch Yukino and gasped slightly as she landed and fell. She calmly slid over to Yukino and crouched beside her, tilting her head.

Yukino fell as gracefully as she could, minimizing how much it would hurt, though it wasn't exactly pleasant. She blinked as Castiel slid past, mentally thanking him for his effort. She looked up at Gwen and carefully climbed back into a sitting position and smiled at her. "That was fun," and looked over at Castiel, yelling, "Yep! Thanks for asking."
