Prompt Chemistry is another one of those fundamental classes you can’t avoid. It’s a love or hate deal, but you’re here anyways. Today, you have been assigned to perform a series of flame tests. How does that work out for you? Do you manage to follow the directions and perform the lab? Did it not go as expected? Scyeth had not been to class in quite a while. Quite a while. There was blowing himself up like a firecracker, all the new kids, on, and there was also his birthday. That was a fun party. There just hadn't been a lot of time for other things, like, you know, studying. Norman would be less than thrilled, the blond imagined, if he knew how much the Aussie had been slacking off the past month or so. Okay, two months, even. It wasn't his fault he was such a busy boy.
It took a great effort to drag himself down to the chem leg, goggles and lab book in tow. Experiments were supposed to be fun, more hands on and stuff. Somehow, Scyeth didn't find the joy in this. He liked being outside. This was not outside, nor was it all that natural. At least this experiment seemed relatively easy, Scyeth relented. Get different sticks, light them on fire and see what color the flame burned. Determine the element. Easy peasy. Boring as hell.
Scyeth looked towards the door. "I need company..." he muttered.

Company was already in the room, half finished with the task at hand. For once, the Chinese teen had to agree with Scyeth on classes: this one was b-o-r-i-n-g.
RuiZhi sighed to himself, removing the glasses from his nose to rub the bridge between, a habit he had picked up when he was thinking too much. Not of the class, no, not at all, but of the blonde outside, the raven-haired woman a floor away and a chestnut youth who was in the same course. He found himself thinking a lot of the people around him after his meeting with Siona, although she hadn't really been the means, just the catalyst. They'd spoken of Weiyuan and Scyeth and Alex, and he had come to realize just how much he had began to rely on them.
Weiyuan had always been a source of loving competition; he knew the elder was smarter than he, yet he was here and the other was not. He was moving forward, and it seemed his 'brother' was in a statis.
Scyeth was another brilliant mind that didn't favor the classwork, and he really couldn't fault him. He was the teen's inspiration, his pick-me-up when he was doubting himself, and he had no doubt in his mind that he was falling harder for the Aussie everyday.
And then there was Alex, his mental sister (maybe it was just the title of 'sibling' that branded them insane). He'd sometimes caught her staring out a window or paused by the harbor in the middle of a run; he knew what it meant, but it didn't mean he had to like it. He didn't want to lose her either.
With another sigh that sounded from his toes, he watched another experiment flare to life before jotting down the element. "Exciting," he muttered under his breath, propping his cheek in his palm. He almost wanted a distraction, would welcome the break from such tedious and dull work.

RuiZhi, your prays have been answered, by none other than the gracious goddess Luna! And what does she have for you?
Why, none other than the beautiful, the wonderful, the amazing, Scyeth Akazar (soldier-in-training)!
Scyeth waltzed into the chemistry lab (what was the boy if he wasn't making an appearance?) and spotted his roommate within seconds. One feral purr later, the youth had already slunk over. Leaning against the table RuiZhi had stationed himself at, he observed the brightly colored flame breifly. "So this is it, huh?" Even more boring than he could have thought. Good thing he had come when he did!
"So how far you got, partner?" Scyeth asked, pulling his safety goggles on as he tried to peer into RuiZhi's notebook. The Australian quickly flipped his own lab book to the same page and began jotting down a few notes. "So you figure out this one yet?"

The teen would have suffered worse indecencies in being bored for such a prize!
RuiZhi turned his eyes over to his roommate, his expression rapidly brightening. "Hey," he greeted the other casually, pushing his notebook over idly so the blonde could read it easier. "Yeah, I got the whole thing figured out - it's unquestionably boring." He huffed and snapped the burner down so they could prepare for the next experiment, resting his cheek against his palm with a smile. "Just got a lot better though."
It was easy to please the Chinese youth, at least when it came to company; Scyeth just did it for him. "I'm mostly done, so we can get out of here after two or three more." He extended one finger to absently tap his knuckle against the side of the burner, "I don't see how anyone could ever want to study things like this for a living. Thank goodness neither of us are."

Lucky for you, the goddess Luna is generous sort and gives away gorgeous blonds freely to those deserving.
Yes, that's right. Stroke his ego. Scyeth was purring louder than any house cat by the time RuiZhi was down speaking. He was only distracted from his roommate for one moment, quickly scrawling down the answers in his lab notebook. Good thing they were allowed partners! If he tried to smudge the answers, he'd probably screw himself over and alter them in the wrong direction. "Now that's what I like to hear!" the teenager chirped, wiggling gleefully. He liked nothing more than easy assignment done for him.
"And then what are we going to do?" the blond asked, leaning over to take a popsicle stick and stick it in a jar. He mumbled something to himself and copied down the compound (at least he could remember to do that) and gave the piece a few moments at soak. "Something fun, I hope?"

Even though he'd lost his people, RuiZhi never lost faith. He would graciously take his prize.
Brown eyes flicked over to the popsicle stick, drawing his notebook back in front of him to scrawl down his observations, complete with an annoyed face doodled next to it. It was unlike the Chinese teen, but even he had his moments. One knuckle pressed his glasses back up his small, slender nose, giving the experiments a displeased look. While he understood it was important to recognize certain components and understand the composition of certian things, it was just too damn tedious and uninteresting for him to take it seriously. It was a requirement, and nothing more.
His gaze turned back to Scyeth, the moth and the flame. "What type of fun do you have in mind?" he asked idly, keeping his voice as neutral as possible. He and his boyfriend were much like the strange and unusual experiments, ever changing in their composition; sometimes they melted together, and on a really good day, they burned.

Then the prize is yours to keep and keep him close to your heart you must.
Scyeth snickered at the annoyed face, jotting down the results. One more, and they were free to go! The youth leaned across the counter to grab their final popsicle stick and drop it in a jar of green liquid before facing RuiZhi again. His expression softened as he watched his boyfriend, leaning against one hand as he sighed. His boyfriend. His.
Shaken out of his thoughts, the blond tipped his head and stuck out his tongue, blinking lazily. "What type of fun do I always have in mind?" he teased, prowling closer to the other student. Oh, fine, maybe there was an open flame and maybe he should be paying attention to the experiment. But how could he? Scyeth chuckled to himself and wrapped his arms around RuiZhi. "I'd offer to take you to the mall for lunch, but that wouldn't be very appreciated, would it?" he teased, nibbling on the other boy's ear.

Close he would keep it; in his heart, it would be nurtured.
Soft brown eyes rested upon the source of their experiment, to see that final color, to be done with the whole damn thing and be rid of the ridiculous class. The stick never came, prompting RuiZhi to glance curiously to the Aussie at his side, catching the sigh; the expression there made his cheeks feel warm, made his stomach feel light and excited. If I was a burner, he thought with quiet amusement, Scyeth would be the unknown component. Only when we're together does anything make sense.
The arms wrapped around him, and rather than chide him and remind him they were almost done, he leaned against the taller teen. The attention to his ear made him grin and squirm a little with a small protest, "That tickles!" Of course, the Chinese youth hardly minded the affections; he'd take that tickling with a whole heart.
With a pleased sigh, he turned his head enough to observe a bright blue eye from so very near by, fingers curling into the torn uniform and giving it a gentle tug. "You're offering, it's always appreciated," he returned matter-of-factly. "I'd brave those mall girls for you - although, to be perfectly honest, they flock to you so I'm left with breathing room."

And there he will grow, at the center of your world, and there he will stay, your guard for all eternity.
"They do rather like me, don't they?" Scyeth crooned, looking entirely too pleased with the idea. The Australian did adore being the center of attention. In fact, being the center of the universe couldn't make him happier! He was an Akazar, being vain as all get out was exactly what he did. As far as he could tell, he was almost a god, being a demon among humans. If they didn't question it, he was not going to argue.
"But we can do something else, if you want. The weather's not really nice enough to go outside yet." He sighed. "I mean, it's not quite as cold as it has been, and all, but still." Scyeth liked hot weather, being the desert boy that he was. "But seriously, man, if there's something else you want to do, I'm not set on the mall."
"Oh!" Scyeth blinked and looked at their last stick, soaking in chemicals. "We should probably light that sucker off so we can blow this popstand, huh?"

And thus his world would revolve around that demonic seed, to shape and grow for him and him alone.
RuiZhi couldn't help but laugh, shaking his head in amusement, mirth in his rich earthen gaze as it rested upon the preening blonde. From anyone else, it may have been something the Chinese youth brushed off, but Scyeth was so sincere and more accepting of the idea more than demanding of it that he couldn't look at it any other way than sweet. Endearing, even. The Aussie never failed to please him, especially when he was being his normal charming self.
"I know Scy," he replied with a bemused grin, "no skateboarding for now. But letting the girls fawn over you does wonders for entertainment." Laughter again escaped him as the soldier realized they had yet to finish the assignment. Part of the doctor-to-be was pleased that he could sufficiently distracted Scyeth...even if it was using Scyeth himself as the distraction. It all worked out in the end. "Yes, let's be done with this place and figure out something to do that doesn't involve burning sticks."

Scyeth gave RuiZhi a puzzled grin, tipping his head and watching quietly as the Chinese student laughed. The blond would jump all over anyone else for laughing at his expense, but RuiZhi was different. He knew RuiZhi was different, there was never any malice in anything he did. In fact, Scyeth rather liked the sound of his boyfriend's laugh, there was something very...unique, about. He'd never find anyone else like it, that was for sure.
"You think?" Scyeth prowled closely, putting the stick on the bench. While RuiZhi was proud of his ability to distract the demon, he should think twice about it when they had something to accomplish. (Especially when much better things loomed on the horizon.) Fortunately, those things rested heavily on the blond's mind and, after a moment, he shook his head and grabbed the stick, shoving it in the flame haphazardly.
".....hey. It's not doing anything."
Scyeth's look of disappointment was priceless.

A warm, adoring smile lit his features, nodding enthusiastically to Scyeth. "I do," he replied with amusement, leaning a bit closer towards his boyfriend as the Aussie seized the stick and shoved it into the fire. RuiZhi half expected an explosion or something equally disasterous, almost equally as surprised as Scyeth was disappointed. That didn't happen often, or at least, he certainly hoped not.
"Maybe it sat too long," he offered up, trying to be helpful. He lifted a hand to idly touch the knuckle of his finger against Scyeth's disappointed brow, drawing it down his cheek, far more affectionate than he'd ever been in public. "Try again, just to get that look off your face. Breaking my heart, Scy." A quirk of his lips and a slight sound of mirth in his throat betrayed that he was amused by the Aussie's antics, but never at his expense. The situation and Scyeth's reactions to it were priceless.
"Give it another go and if nothing happens...we'll just say it's water."
