How do you guys feel about having a online bf/gf? I have probablly more online ones then real ones or maybe just about equal. But i just want some peoples ideas.

Well my girlfriend and i started out as an online relationship. We met on here, and though we've gotten to know eachother more and stuff, and we consider ourselves in a long distance relationship now. we just don't like how online relationships are defined.

Thats cool man and yeah thats how me and my girlfriend started too. And yeah the thing i hate the most is how people make fun of or say they couldnt do that.

most people aren't persitant enough to go through with not seeing their partner for long periods of time. Through our time together (which has only been a little over a year now) we believe that our relationship is stronger than alot of relationships where the couple actually gets to see eachother everyday.

Yeah me and my ex gf (who was an online one too) went out for little over a year also. And yeah i think it does make you stronger eachday and builds turst in eachother.

that's not to say though that ld relationships or online relationships don't have their share of problems. one major problem with an online relationship is the communication. My girlfriend and I started talking on the phone about three weeks after we got back together, (long story and i don't want to get into it) and we have been talking on the phone everyday that we get the chance since. I know it seems like alot but we both need to talk to eachother at least once aday for a few hours.

lol, now i get what you meant with other threads/sub forums lol.
anyways, on to the topic at hand. my current boyfriend, i met him online too..in gaia actually. i really dont like it when ppl say that online relationships never work or theyre stupid...i really hate it, its like a slap on the face for me. mine is working out perfectly, its gonna be a yr in march for us. i also met my ex here in gaia, it didnt work out (7+ months it lasted, too long to explain and dont want to). i say it just depends on the person. if they dont like it, then so be it...they dont have to go saying "oh, its stupid...bla blah bla". everyone does online relationships for a reason and everyone does irl ones for other reasons too. i had 1 real life one, didnt work out and i had 2 online ones...one didnt succeed like i said and yet the current one is. it just also depends on the people and if they can handle an online/long distance relationship.

I am one of those ones that just couldn't do it. I don't know if it makes me less strong willed or impatient or whatever you want to call it. I just couldn't do a long distance relationship online. I just like to be able to be held in the arms of my loved one when I have had a bad day or whatnot. I'm probably just needy. Granted IRL relationships I have had have turned out...not so great but who hasn't had a relationship like that?
HOWEVER, I do not disagree with the concept. My best friend AND my cousin both do online relationships. Granted both have had their ups and downs but my cousin has been in a relationship with her boyfriend for about three years now. I have a long term friend that I met online forever ago and consider him one of my best, aswell. Trying to make him move to Canada so we can hang more. Lol.
So I see both sides and don't disagree with online relationships. I just know they are not for me but not everyone is like me (that is a scary thought). Everyone is different and often those who do not understand something, make fun of it.
