He also kept in mind that his plans of solitude usually didn't end up working out, he always ended up running into some stranger or another. That or Flea would eventually find him and question him endlessly about why he was so heartless and would sneak off on his own like he did.
His ears flicked and he glanced toward the left, thinking for a moment that he'd heard some other wolf's approach. He scented the air and frowned, shaking his head softly. Just his imagination, he hoped. He weaved through the trees calmly, letting his thoughts turn to happier times, like when he and Kiio had been younger and she had been healthier. He sighed softly and his tail tip wagged just barely as he headed for the nearby stream, thinking it would be nice if she would get better again one day.

 It wasn't every day that puppies were born into the pack of Sin. The last litter was her own. Now her daughter, and alphess of Gomorrah, was round with pup and toting around who knew how many little demons. Gerda shivered. Demons seemed to be on her mind lately. In all honesty, she was surprised she'd not gotten the boot yet. Piper and Abital hated her, and though Beauty and Akiva's presence was scarce around the pack, she knew how they felt as well. What love for a mother. So Gerda took it upon herself lately to wander outside the bounds and hell, if Piper happened to stand guard and refuse her re-entrance? It was no fur off this old she-wolf's back. Her days of servitude to Sin were almost done... She could feel it in her bones as she padded through the underbrush, following her nose to a stream, the water's scent thin and airy.

As he was leaning down and lapping up the cool, refreshing water he distinctly hear the snapping of twigs, the crunch of dead leaves still over-powering the growth of spring that wanted to come. His mood soured, he knew someone or something else was coming. He brought his head up, staring straight ahead. A female, light as he, entered into his vision. His right ear flicked and he scowled, thinking females were perhaps the worst of company to have.
His ears flicked back just slightly, his muscles tense and his fur slightly standing on edge. He moved his maw back toward the water and lapped slowly, his eyes still straining to stay on at least part of her form. There, he figured he looked hostile enough and perhaps it would dissuade her from bothering him.

Her ears jerked forwards, body tensing as she paused in mid-stride. She was mute, she wasn't blind. There, right on the other side of the stream, was a white wolf with violet markings across his pelt. His hair stood on end, which made Gerda's own nape prickle slightly.
She flicked her ears back, watching him for a good moment. No. He wasn't going to scare her off; she'd come all this way for a drink and she was going to have one, moody-looking male or not.
So she gingerly stepped forwards, standing across from him as her tongue dipped into the cool water. She stared down at her reflection, then let her eyes wander up to greet his, a little nervously.

He brought his gaze back up to watch her, she seemed to tense as she must have read his body language and he continued to stare, perhaps testing her and perhaps just trying to get his way and scare her off so he could be alone again. But it seemed she didn't seem to scare so easily, as she moved defiantly forward and leaned down to take a drink.
Deciding to push it a little forward, though usually Zen did not behave this way, he started to growl. Just lightly, a low rumble from his throat. He did not look so hostile any longer though, more or less he was just giving her warning and still trying to scare her off.

He wanted to be alone.
She could handle that. She couldn't handle, however, a pushy male who was trying to scare her away!
As his growl rose up to echo all around her, her ears flattened back against her skull and her lips raised instinctively. She wasn't a puppy...how dare he treat her as something so -low-?! Standing on braced legs, she growled back the best she could, first a low rumble and then a threatening darkness seeping out between them. Not a normal growl, as she couldn't speak normal, but a growl nonetheless.
She was hoping her own voice would be something akin to 'Excuse Me?!'

His ears flattened against his head as she began to growl back, it was an odd and off-key growl, still threatening as his own but something about it seemed off. So he had to bump into this sort of wolf, excellent. Silent, which he was rather appreciative of, but seemingly stubborn and not easily scared. He guessed he shouldn't have been so surprised, he wasn't that large for a male. Tall, yes, he had very long limbs. But he wasn't part of a pack, he lived only with a sickly sister and a male who was more likely to nap than to hunt. He was under nourished and it showed, but he wasn't really a fighter anyways.
He bared his teeth briefly before his growl cut off and he huffed. Why did he have to leave? He'd gotten here first... "Need something?" He finally said, his voice was smooth and slightly cold, he wasn't here to make friends.

She wasn't silent by choice. It was more that she was silent by birth. She lowered her head and stared at him, her growl quickly evaporating, leaving them in silence. As he spoke, her neck straightened and she smiled, a gentle smile.
Her tail wagged once. She gave a soft sigh, wishing she could say something back to him. Slowly, she shook her head, tilting it to one side as she finished her thought. Her tail wagged once more, low and easy going.
He wasn't there to make friends, but she could've used one.

His eyes narrowed the longer he waited for her respond, glancing to the tail that flicked back and forth in a happy manner and then back to her maw as she shook her head no. He continued to stare at her, waiting to see if there was perhaps more. Like a reason she was still sitting there when he thought it was clear he didn't want company. After a moment he tore his gaze away though, slightly confused because no words came. He assumed she was definitely a mute then, or perhaps a very strange wolfess who chose not to speak. Zen rose to all fours and stretched out his front legs, deliberately not looking at the female.
Well, perhaps he would just have to go spend the day with his sister and Flea, though that option wasn't very appealing to the wolf. He glanced again to the female from the corner of his eye as she sat their happily wagging her tail and his gaze narrowed a little, annoyed. What was she so happy about, anyhow? He hated other wolves who were all happy go lucky and... well, except for the two idiot-happy wolves he was in a 'pack' with. He swore kiio and Flea could drown him in happy if they wanted to.
"You can't speak?" He finally asked the female, wanting to confirm it himself.
