So, there once was a mare. She was raised with loving parents and siblings to support her. But once she was mature, the young mare grew tired of the land she called home. All the faces were the same, day after day. Nothing changed! She became restless, craving a drastic change~ preferably one that had to do with her lifestyle, or where she called home. So, Djamila left her home, and everything she knew. Her family was distraught, but they loved Djamila and supported her in her need for a fresh start. Without any real sort of conflict, Djamila took her leave from the land where she was raised and set off on finding a new home.
It was several days later when Djamila found an idyllic spot. It was heavily wooded, much different than the rolling hills and grasslands that were her previous home. The air was thick with the strange scent of everything deciduous; pine trees, maple trees, ash trees, all intermingling to create an overwhelming aroma Djamila had never encountered. Her senses were kicked into overdrive here! She loved it, though. Along with the new scents, Djamila's ears swiveled, straining to catch and identify the sounds of different avian-types, rodent-types, and other creatures scurrying underfoot and flying overhead. But other than the small birds and critters around her, Djamila sensed the presence of none like herself. She sighed, regretting her new choice of home for only a brief nanosecond. "Why should I be upset at being alone?" The mare asked herself, tossing her head so that the beads in her mane clicked together gaily. "In fact, I rather like the idea of being so... independent!" Djamila spoke aloud to reassure herself. It felt strange to know that she was utterly alone, whereas previous, every day of her life had been a barrage of relatives- parents, siblings, aunts, uncles. Her entire family had lived fairly close together.
It was a drastic change, but from the content look in Djamila's bright eyes, she was loving every minute of it.
