The leaves of spring shifted lightly in the breeze as the small green chipmunk skittered through the branches, almost completely melded into the vibrant colors. The shadows shifted around her, as her gaze was centered on a fluttering shard of paper alighting on the branch beside her.
B'wa Kell furrowed her brow in deep concentration as she calculated in her mind the distance to leap to capture the article. Tail twiching, she lept across and dug her nails into the branch. Math was the only reason she made it, because her athletic abliltes weren't so strong. Still, it was critical that all pieces of paper got captured.

Wess sat atop a high branch and watched the world pass by in front of him. He loved nothing more then to sit and watch the birds play. Sometimes he even imagined he could fly by jumping from branch to branch. As he watched he heard a sound below him. He looked down to see a gorgeous female carefully jump to another branch. "Hello there!" He called to her, hoping it wouldn't spook her into falling.

B'wa was really quite intent on reading through the page, holding it out before her to observe it. Then a voice came from above, a voice of hello. Ears perked up as her head twisted around. Another chipmunk was in the same tree as her, and she had to wonder how long he'd been there. She was so intent on the papers...
"Salutations!" B'wa Kell called out, tucking the paper under her arm as she waved her other paw. "The day is wonderful, isn't it?" She flicked her bushy little tail to keep her balance. Maybe he hadn't seen her little leap that was a bit lack-luster. Then a thought struck her. She seemed nervous then. "Oh, is this tree your place of residence? If I have intruded, apologies are in order. "

Wess stared at the paper in her paws as she spoke. He hadn't ever learned to read but it was still pretty to look at. He easily rolled onto his back and looked at the female upside down. He grinned at her slyly and then nodded. "It is a beautiful day." Putting more meaning behind what he said then his words let on. He laughed then, a deep merry laugh. "Oh no. It's just my watch-tree. I come here to watch the day pass when I have nothing else to do, or a lot on my mind. What's that you've got there?" He said nodding to her paper.

B'wa was relieved that she wasn't intruding on anyone's home, sometimes she was just on such a one track mind, she missed the obvious around her. Smiling at him because of his showed interest in her precious paper, she held it out. Brilliant cursive was scrawled across the paper in a most expressive way.
“This is an article from a bound journal!” B’wa beamed at him. “I found this item on the outskirts of the woods…but it was torn apart, shredded.” Sadness entered her words at that, but the little chipmunk just kept on rolling. “So I’m utilizing my skilled to piece the shards back in their rightful places.” A firm nod came from B’wa, as if that was all that mattered to her at the time. Another small tail wag from the enthused female at the thought of finishing her task.

Wess smiled as the pretty little 'munk held up her prize. She was like a child in her enthusiasm, though he could tell she was not a child at all. He marveled at the paper for a moment before thinking of something. He effortlessly bounded down a couple branches so that he was on a branch next to the one she was on. "You know, now that I think, I believe I saw a few scraps of the same looking material blowing past to the north." He smiled, hoping this information would be helpful to her and gain him her favor. "By the way, I'm Wess. What might I call you, besides beautiful?" He usually wasn't so forward with females but wit her, he couldn't help himself.

B'wa looked at him for a moment, his words sinking in. B-beautiful? Her ears flattened as she blushed a bit, crumpling the edges of the paper in her paws. How rude of her not to introduce herself in the first place, what else could he have said to her without knowing her name?
"My name is B'wa Kell, but acquaintances address me as B’wa.” She tilted her head at the male in wonder, the winds shifting the tree leaves all around them. “If I am to recieve your assistance in my, small quest...I should know what to call you by. Is Wess okay, or is there another name to call you by?"
The slivers of true sun leaked through the eaves and danced on their fur, as a few moments passed as she waited for his reply.

Wess jumped the the trunk of the tree just above his new friend's branch. He looked at her sideways. Amused at the reaction he had gotten to his compliment. His soft brown fur ruffled in the breeze as he listened to her talk. He decided that was his new favorite thing to do. "Wess is fine. My full name is Wesley but no one calls me that, not that I mind it." He smiled and landed on her branch. "Shall we?" He said jumping down a branch and offering B'wa his paw to help her down.

B'wa was being very careful not to have the wind take the piece of paper she was holding, and carefully tucked it away. Then after a moment, she saw his paw held out to her. Trying to do the math in her head quickly, about the inertia and force and all, she gave up and just took his paw. Hopping down she smiled at him. "You can call me B'wa, my namesake is rather lengthy itself." Her tail flicked in the breeze as a few leaves tore from the eaves and into the air.
Science and math were all around her, all the time. It made the world go. Poety, accented this world. Perhaps if the book was put together, it would lead to a bit more enlightenment for her.
"The pieces, you mentioned you saw such articles." B'wa Kell's ears raised in excitement. "Lead the way."

Wess suddenly worried about why she had hesitated and his ear dropped ever so slightly. He smiled again when she took his paw and nearly fell off the branch when she smiled at him. Yep, definitely his new favorite thing to see and he saw a lot. "B'was is a wonderful name." He swiftly jumped off the bottom branch to the ground and offered his paw again, eager to be off and find the papers to see her smile again. "They can't've gotten too far, I just saw them before I saw you." His eyes twinkled at her at this comment.

"Well," She began, as she hopped down using his paw again (not wanting to be rude).."I'm glad I found you. Statistically speaking if we both are to scour a certain radius, the percentage of pages found will increase dramatically." Her words always flowed together and were well connected and thought out. This was just her. Everything was connected and had a place.
"Wess, do you suppose you can take the lead and I follow after?" Her face got a bit worried at those words. The winds seemed to be picking up a bit, and some of the pages might just, dissapear! They had to be all collected soon. Put back together. Then, she would know why they were torn up they way she'd found them.

Wess simply smiled as she landed and began speaking. He didn't really understand her words but he wanted to help her. He would do whatever he could. "I sure, can, as long as you can keep up, sweetheart." He grinned. Watching was his favorite thing to do but running came in close second. He noticed the wind and her need to hurry so, without delay, he took off, like a small bullet through the grass. He took a path due north, only glancing back once to make sure she was behind him

B'wa gripped the paper in her mouth, not used to the fast pace he'd set. Still, she was determined to get all the pieces back. Exercise was good right? Living in an area without natural enemies was a plus, but it might not always be that way. Tail flashing in the sunlight, her natural markings looked even more tribal.
He was really kind to help her. Perhaps, while on this small adventure, she could think of a way to thank him. But how?

As Wess sprinted along he spotted a rock in the distance. Now was his chance to show off for B'wa with a bit of acrobatics. He smiled to himself then kicked his small back legs off the ground harder to give him more speed. With the sun and the birds as his witness he swiftly reached the rock. He prepared to make a running leap, perhaps even a flip off the rock. As he sprang into the air he caught sight of something white under the rock. This distracted him completely and he clumsily fell over himself, landing in a heap on the ground.

B'wa Kell's ears shot up in alert at the sight of Wess' misstep, and worry flooded her mind. Furrowing her brow, she dug her claws deeper into the ground and pumped her muscles more. Only thinking about him and the angle he landed at, she opened her mouth and yelled.
"Wess!" She was quickly running out of breath but made it to his side. He was still laying on the ground, unmoving.
"Wess! Are....are you... conscious? Can you.... can you hear me?" B'wa was trying to catch her breath long since gone, and her legs were a bit sore now, but she had to know...if he was alright.
