Tau was sitting beside the sea, waiting for her to come. He was excited, as he should be! This was going to be a fun night. He wanted to help her forget her duties and stress... and for one night, just relax and take it easy. Tau was a cub at heart and wanted nothing more than to have a good time. Maybe this would rub off on her a little.

With a soft yawn she gazed up at the setting sun and smiled. Why was he so pumped? His heart couldn't stop racing. Maybe it was because of that smile she gave him, and the kind words they both spoke. She was so very lovely when she smiled and Tau wanted her to smile all the time now.

She would have a good time tonight, he swore it.

User ImageTamu was equally as elated, those little bubbling, wiggling feelings in her stomach as she departed her family cave and began to approach the shore. It wasn't a long or difficult walk, but in the anticipation of the evening, it felt like she'd travelled miles and miles just to be here.

At first, he was just a blob in the sunset, a dark shadow. And then he got bigger and more defined as she approached Tau.

"Evening Tau," she greeted him with a great smile, and just that hint of giddyness in her voice.

"Tamu."

He smiled as she neared; his hear beat seemed to race as she spoke his name, she spoke it so perfectly, it was like no one else could never say it like she could and have that kind of effect on him, no one. He stood up tall and spoke out brightly.

"Ready?"

His eyes seemed to dance with delight as he awaited her answer.

"Sure....what are we doing exactly?" she asked, curious and nervous all at the same time.

She stopped inches from him, swaying her tail in a rhythmic fashion, as if to the beat of a song.

"Well, lets go fishing! I think that would be a fun thing to start the night off with! The water and waves are always so lovely at this time of the day."

He answered and nodded with a smile. His wavy mane curled against his face as he smiled at her and stood beside her, smirking as he laughed and nudged her.

"I'll race you..."

"Okay then," she replied with a smile. "Y'know, there's always some strange lookin' fish in the estuary around dusk, not to mention those hiding in the rocks near Leporogo. We should get some bait...see if we can't corner a bird for some feathers or something."

This was nice, quite relaxed and she felt like a different lioness. She wished she could be like this more often, so the others could all see she was normal and not just the Mkuru-maji. She returned his smirk and looked sly.

"Y'know I'm gonna beat you..."

"Hah! You wish you could beat me."

He laughed and snickered as his tail batted from side to side, his body inching closer to the ground as he glanced up at her and winked.

"We will see about that..."

With a playful tone Tau pounced at her, pushing her back onto the soft sandy ground. He had her pinned for a second, though he wasn't rough with her, Tau never wanted any harm to come to her. In a soft, joking tone he grinned wide and spoke out.

"Let's see what your made of!"

With that Tau pulled himself up and started in a dash for the sea.

"Oh you know girls are better than boys any day," she replied, trying to sound self-assured.

Of course that attitude disappeared the moment she got pinned. Where did that come from! How could she miss the signs he was ready to pounce. She thought he was just ready to make a leaping start, and had even began to sink her own form a little, hoping her springy legs would do her well.

"Hey! Thats not fair!" she shouted after him as he tore off, she following. "At least girls play fair!"

She had a lot of catching up to do. Her lithe form bounding across the bay in the darkening night, well, she was almost indistinguishable from the dark waters and the delicate lights playing on the water's surface. Whenever she ran through water, she made huge splashing noises, her tail slapping the water or the sands with movement.

She was like a fish! Tau turned back as he moved and frowned. She was gaining on him! He couldn't let her win now! His golden form pushed faster as he let his large paws sink into the sand with every step he took. Looking back once more he called out with a wide grin.

"All is fair in love and war!"

He chuckled and turned back around... just in time to see a large rock nestled within the sand. He couldn't stop!

Tau almost did a flip as he fell over, his whole body hitting he ground below rather hard. His dark eyes closed as he lay, dumb-struck.

"Ouuucccch."

He muttered, rolling onto his side. Karam!-Whata b***h.

Tamu was gaining, and then suddenly zoomed past him to take the lead as he tripped. Unfortunately for Tau, his mishap was lost on Tamu for a few moments, thinking he'd simply stumbled on the wet sand or his own feet (lord knows she'd done it enough times herself). It wasn't until she'd looked voer her shoulder to gloat that she noticed something was slightly amiss.

She came to a slow stop, just in case he was trying to trick her and she'd need a spring to keep her lead. When he didn't show any immediate signs of getting up and bolting, she padded back toward him, paws washed of sand in the moving surf. She could feel tiny bits of shingle on her paw pads. So sensitive they were to variations in the sand and water.

"What did you do? You alright?" she said as she approached softly.

Tau laughed a d glanced up at her with a wide grin.

"I'm fine." He nodded at her words and look of worry. He slowly rolled himself up and stood at her side, chuckling as he stepped a paw in front of hers.

"Hey, I guess I won after all."

He gave her a very joking smile.

She still watched him with concern, even as he rolled back onto his feet. Perhaps a character flaw, too caring. But then, how could that be a flaw? She peered down at his paw, and then had to think over his statement a few moments before casting him a playfully peeved look.

"Hey, that was cheating. That wasn't very nice," she mock-complained at him.

"Oh." Tau smirked and rolled himself up to her, his tail softly swaying from side to side, his paws parting.

"Well, I was only kidding, swear! You won, you did." As he spoke he tugged at her left ear with a soft bite, snickering to himself as he rolled past her, moving closer to the sea.

"Let's take a rest?"
