If it is squeeking, then the player isn't very good. In my high school beginning/intermediate band, clarinets almost never squeek, even though two barely know how to play.
By the way, we only have two bands and a percussion class. we have Wind emsemble and concert. I'm in concert.

I love it how Brass instruments call us clarinets annoying squeakers.
I don't even squeak, maybe one time by mistake ;/

I've known a lot of good clarinetists that squeak sometimes. Saxophonists, too. I feel sorry for reed instruments. It sounds like they kind of suck.
