Fancy had looked everywhere, yet she still couldn't find it! Her umbrella was lost, blown away by a strong gust of wind while she was holding it. This wouldn't do. This wouldn't do, at all! She needed that umbrella! It was a gift to her from her parents, and she cherished it very dearly. It kept the sun and rain out of her eyes when it was necessary. Determined to find it, the young nanny set off for the opposite side of the train station - the rougher side of the tracks.
"Where could it be," she murmured to herself. "Oh! This had better be worth it!"

A strong gust of wind ruffled Long Shadows' slate-colored feathers as he flew over the top of the 'poor' side of the train station. Shadows turned his head to look across the tracks at the 'wealthy' side of the tracks. Dark grey clouds were visible beyond the train station on the horizon, explaining the strong gusts of wind that kept hitting him at he flew. Shadows was no weather-watcher, but he could tell a rain would be here soon. He quickly darted through the air, until a pink blur distracted him mid-flight. He identified it as a pink umbrella, some-pidge's treasure no doubt, and it was being carried away on a stray gust of wind. Shadows paused in the air before deciding to chase after it. The slate-colored pidge swiftly flew in front of the pink umbrella's path and caught it in a talon, and carefully closed the umbrella where it was held it safely in his toes.

The wind was hard to fight against given its strength, but somehow Fancy managed to do it. As she flew, she took careful care to be on the lookout for her umbrella. Instead of seeing it, though, her attention was drawn to someone else. It was a pidge. A tall, dark and handsome pidge that just so happened to hold her umbrella in his talons. Dipping down, Fancy landed on the ground gingerly and stared over at him.
"Hey," she called out, "I believe you have found my umbrella. May I have it back, please?"
The strange male certainly surprised her. She had never seen him before. Well, at least not on the wealthy side, anyway. Perhaps he was new? Even so, he was intriguing, this pidge.

Shadows heard someone call to him and looked around. There they were. It appeared to be another pidge on the ground, walking towards his spot in the air. He landed after fighting against the stirring wind. Before him was a beautiful pink and white female pidge. He blinked, trying to recall ever seeing her before. From her appearance, he could tell she was from the wealthy side of the tracks. For some strange reason he cared less about that fact and held up the umbrella in his talons. She seemed like a sensible pidge, after all she hadn't called him a thief when she saw him with her umbrella.
"Here." He said, luckily the wind had died down a bit and he had been able to hear her say the umbrella belonged to her. Shadows held the pink umbrella out to her for her to take. It wasn't very valuable to him, and which made the umbrella a trinket, therefore going against his policy of stealing things of sentimental value. Things like that he couldn't trade for seeds to support the hunger pidge of the poor side of the tracks.

"Thank you very much," Fancy replied to him politely as she took her umbrella from Shadows' talons. Clearly, since he gave it back, he wasn't a bad pidge. At least, he didn't look like a bad one. Thieves were frequent among Half Price's flock, and Fancy always told herself she would never have run-ins with them if she could help it. She didn't want to take the chance of having something of hers stolen from her and having who-knows-what done with it.
Umbrella in wing, the young nanny took the time to examine the male before her more closely. He was a good-looking slate - there was no doubt about that. He appeared to be the strong, silent type too, from the looks of things. Fancy was swooning on the inside. He was just the type of person she would look for in a mate, but she wasn't going to tell him that. It would be rude.
Her eye's widened in the next moment, and she let out a quiet gasp as her feathers ruffled. "Oh, where are my manners? I still haven't introduced myself. My name is Tickle Your Fancy, and it is a pleasure to meet you. You may call me Fancy, though. Are you new around here," she asked, curious to know where Shadows had come from. With any luck, the two of them would become friends. She would enjoy the company of a male from time to time; it would do her good.

Shadows nodded and replied "You're welcome" after the pidge took her umbrella from his talon. He couldn't help but examine the pretty female in front of him more closely either.
She had a prime and proper, slightly old-fashioned, air . But in a good way of course. The prettier females had usually caught his eye, but beauty was only as far as feathers and inks would go. He was more interested in a pidge that was creative and smart. Shadows would have to get to know her better.
Shadows couldn't help but let out a small smile at her flustered-ness over forgetting her introductions. "I'm Long Shadows, and the pleasure is mine." He said with a small bow. "And no, I'm not new, I've been here since I was an egg in my parents' nest." He finished with a slight chuckle. "Are you new?" Shadows asked.

Long Shadows. A fitting name for the male slate. His parents had named him well. When he asked if she was new, Fancy politely shook her head. "Like you, I have been here since I was an egg in the nest," she exclaimed, turning her head to gaze over at the wealthier side of the tracks.
"It's odd, though," she went on, gazing back over to him. "I've never seen you around before." That wasn't so hard for the nanny, though. She mostly kept to the chicks, and when she wasn't with them, she usually was off playing cards and drinking tea with some of the older pidge on the upper class side. This hobby was typical of someone of her status. "Oh, well," Fancy murmured with a gentle smile. "No matter. I've made a new friend, and that's all that matters."

"Hm, I haven't seen you around either." He replied, tilting his head to one side slightly. "Well, I do go out on...errands often." Shadows said after some thought. He wasn't about to tell her what he did on those 'errands' of course. Tickle Your Fancy, she did has a very nice name he noted, would probably think negatively of him after she learned he was a thief.
Shadows heard her mutter something about making a new friend and mentally breathed a sigh of relief. She thought of him as a friend! The thought filled him with joy. Maybe he would get to know her better. Shadows couldn't help but smile.

Her eye's seemed to brighten when he said he ran errands a lot. "Oh, you must be a scavenger then! How wonderful!" she chimed in a sing-song voice. "I haven't met many scavengers, but I know that it's an honorable profession. It's so kind of you to go out there and help provide for the flock!"
Fancy beamed at Shadows with admiration as she spoke while using her wings to show more animation. Most of the people she hung out with were either tea makers or nannies of some sort. Old friends of the family, or friends she had made when she was training to become a nanny herself. Meeting an actual scavenger was a breath of fresh air, and she noted how interesting it would be to hear about all of the stuff he found on his scavenging trips.

Shadows nodded once more. Hopefully this little white lie wouldn't come back to haunt him. He took 'honorable profession' as a complement a real scavenger would want so he said "Thank you." and gave her a smile of his own. He too was getting a breath of fresh air by talking to Fancy. Shadows was used to hanging around rowdy thieves all day, and this pretty and polite pidge was quite different from them.
"What about yourself?" Shadows inquired about Fancy's own trade. 'Maybe she's an entertainer' He thought. 'She's so lively...' He noted upon seeing her wing movements when she spoke. Shadows allowed himself to smile once more.

"Primarily," she began, taking a seat politely on the ground after growing tired of standing, "I work as a nanny." After she was comfortable, the pink and white colored pidge opened her umbrella and held it above her head. The weather wasn't looking good, and the last thing she wanted to do was get wet. "Helping to watch over the chicks and fledglings is a wonderful job," Fancy went on to tell him. She took great pride in taking care of them since she was good at it, and even one day hoped to start a family of her own.
She gazed up at him before continuing and motioned with a wing for him to sit down beside her. There was no use standing in the middle of no where, especially when they could be more comfortable. "Aside from that, I am an entertainer as well. I tell stories." The female nodded when she told him this, another happy smile radiating from her. Stories were something she loved to create, and the ones she thought up seemed to keep the chicks in line well enough.
'He's so quiet...' Fancy said to herself, allowing her eyes to scan over his figure once more. 'Ooo, how I love the strong silent type...~'

A nanny and a story teller! That definitely sparked his interest. Being a nanny, she was most likely a very kind pidge. He was fond of the little chicks as well, and would like to have some of his own some day. He nodded silently as he listened to her. As for story telling, he figured she must be very creative. The slate-colored pidge sat down next to Fancy after she motioned for him to sit down beside her. He had been a bit tired of standing there.
"Stories? I'd love to hear one sometime." Shadows said with a smile. Stories were something Shadows enjoyed very much, ever since he was a chick.

He would love to hear some of her stories! Her head was spinning with delight when he told her that. Finally, someone other than the chicks to tell her stories to! She would have to think of some new ones to tell Shadows, ones that she had never told anyone before. That way, they would be special stories; ones that only the two of them knew.
She blushed a bit, yet was careful to hide it so he wouldn't see. "I'd love to tell you some," Fancy explained in a soft-spoken voice. "You can come to my nest any time. I can prepare some tea for you, too, if you like. It would be a nice chance to relax and wind down. Clear your mind off of things."

"Tea sounds lovely, when are you free?" He replied with yet another smile. Shadows' head filled with giddy-ness once more at the idea of spending more time with Fancy. He contained the feeling inside of him, allowing no more to peek out than another smile. The slate-colored pidge didn't want to scare off Fancy, they had just met! He could tell they were going to be great friends though.
