Rayne sulked up the stairs to her room, which was located near the back of the large building that shone nearly no sunlight at all throughout the day. The best part of living here. She pushed the door open, of course she never really kept it lock. No need to, she supposed. Not like anyone would dare enter her dark chamber where horror films looked like Disneyland compared to her room. She didn't bother to look behind and see if Blair really followed her all the way here or stayed behind with the others for some sort of gathering that Rayne wasn't too upset to miss. She kicked off her tough leathered boots that gave her two inches in height and began tearing off her chains and leather straps off her wrists. Her studded choker somehow was bothering her, though it almost never did. She gripped it and ripped it off her neck and she sank on her bed. Her throat was throbbing still, which should have dulled down by now. But it wasn't. She began massaging her throat, and then proceeded to peel the almost-endless straps of leather that piled on her skin. She threw her black garment on the bed and peeled her black and white bloodstained socks off her legs. She then proceeded to her bathroom where she turned on the red-dimmed light and stood in front of the bathroom mirror that hung behind the door.

She stared at herself, feeling like an child looking at some strange alien that stood in front of her. She felt her whole body cringe at the mere sight of her flawless skin, smothered in a red dimmed light. She looked up and looked at the only thing that really stood out on her body--her lone green eye.

She had lost it in an accident so many years ago. When she still lived in London, back in the olden days. She wasn't allowed to walk about the streets after dark. It was the time that Jack the Ripper had stalked the shadows raping and killing prostitutes in the night. Well, Rayne sought it to be some bed time story to scare little kids. So, her foolish self went about the night, trying to go sneak to her friend, Minerva's house. She took the short cut down this tunnel. It was the same tunnel she had walked through to and from school. She had sensed someone was following her, but she didnt stop. Finally she got too scared and began running until she tripped. Jack had caught up to her and kept her pinned on the ground.

The memory made her flinch. Her skin began to twitch, feeling the terror she felt as a human crawl up her spine.

She tried to fight back. But as her head lifted from the ground, a hand held the back of it and slammed it so hard, not knowing a small rock happened to lay where her left eye burst and bled through, staining the ground instantly. She was screaming in pain. But Jack didn't lay off of her. She continued to scream that she didn't want to die. Jack jerked her head up so his lips were to her ear, and he hissed, "You wont..." Then teeth sank into her neck.

The chills had literally made her shiver like crazy. Her lip at twitched as her vision came back to the present, realizing she was still staring at her defected self. Her own image made her so angry at herself. If only I had listened. She continued to scold herself, as she did every day all these years. Her face fell in her hands as she felt the anger boil up inside her. It breached her skin as she gripped and ripped off her eye patch and smashed her fist into the mirror. Her face had moved inches from the mirror as she stared directly at her distorted purple eye. The pupil was faded into a milky white and all the white that was supposed to be around the retina had turned coal black. Her eye had grown back as she was transforming into a vampire, but it didn't give her normal sight. Instead she saw other things...

Rayne peeled herself off of her bathroom floor when she heard someone come up the stairs from the hallway. She hadn't closed her bedroom door, so she ran by her sink and grabbed a towel, preparing to get into the shower.

Dorcha wafted gracefully out of his room, a book in hand. He made his way down to the entrance, and headed down to the forest. It seemed a lot easier to read outside, under a tree.

Rayne peered around the corner of her door as she heard someone leave their room. She noticed it wasnt Blair who had said she was coming back too. Rayne quickly slipped on her black System of a Down shirt and followed Dorcha behind, back to the forest. Apparently everyone is gathering there today... She thought to herself. She slipped her eye patch back over her left eye and adjusted her red and black ponytails along the way.

Blair ran up to the apartments, up the stairs, and then when she got to the top and looked back from where she ran from, she saw Rayne following Dorcha back towards the forest. Blair shook her head -- she had been falling into dazes all day. "Sorry, Rayne." She mumbled to herself. She started coughing and placed her left hand against the wall for support. "Dang-it! It's an asthma attack!" She had been running a lot today, she knew she had been pushing herself a little to much but now the result had finally come. She hadn't had an attack since a year and a half ago. She slowly fell to her knees as she coughed. She looked through her bag and couldn't find her medicine. She had left it in the room, but she didn't know which one was hers. Blair took the keys and went through the apartment doors, trying to see if she could figure it out by putting the keys into the right door and opening it. The cough attack and calmed down a lot but it had left her dizzy and confused.

Blair noticed it had started to rain. She slowly walked over to the rail and let the rain fall onto her head. It felt so good; it eased the dizziness and pain. She just stood there until her head was completely wet. She smiled and closed her eyes.

Rayne climbed up the same stairs to the same floor of her apartment door. She heaved in and out air as she looked back to make sure no one had followed her. She had seen Blair on the way over, but was sure that she hadn't noticed her passing through. She slipped into her door, slowly closing it but left it somewhat cracked. She turned to her bathroom and stared at her broken reflection. Shards of the broken mirror lay on the floor, from earlier. She glanced back up at her reflection, then was startled by a sound that was outside her door. She reached into her boot, where she carried a pocket knife next to the lip of the shoe. She flipped it open and reached for the doorknob slowly. As the pulled the door open, a dark figure stood in front of her. She held the knife out in front of her. The figure stood in front of her for two solid minutes. Red eyes flared at her, as a human emotion of terror rushed up her spine for a brief moment. Rayne almost never feared anything. But the familiarity of those red eyes brought back that old human feeling.

"I'm watching you..." The figure spoke as it dissolved into a dark cloud that rushed right at Rayne and dissipated into black ravens, gnawing and squawking at her then flew out her front door and disappeared. Her breathing raced as she looked back at her mirror which now had splotches of red all over it. She took a step back as she gasped in horror.

JACK IS WATCHING YOU.

Rayne raced out her apartment door and down the stairs, back to her friends.

Jackal cleared the forest and walked out into the pour of rain. The trees had actually sheltered them some. Here there was nothing to stop the rain from falling in heavy sheets. She stopped suddenly and turned to Rayne. "Talk to me Rayne. You may be able to fool them, but not me...." Her words were gentle. Something had happened. Rayne never acted this way. Jackal knew her better than anyone. And vice versa.

Rayne stared at Jackal for a moment, trying to find words. She looked around briefly and leaned in closer to Jackal. "My worse nightmare...keeps haunting me." She let out a sigh as she rested up against the tree next to the apartment doors. "Jack the Ripper is looking for me." Her eye narrowed down to the ground.

Jackal stood open mouthed. The Ripper was looking for her? "B...but what does he want with you?" She looked around, almost expecting to see the legendary nightmare himself. All of a sudden she thought she felt someone watching them. It gave her the chills.

Rayne continued to look at the ground as the question sank into her. She knew exactly why he wanted her. Her ability, her strength, her rage she had and lust she had for the human blood. But mostly, because he created her. "He's my...creator." She mumbled. Her green eye flickered up at Jackal. "He wants my ability. He wants to torture me with it." She wrapped her arms around herself. The though of Jack making her see horrible things, with her own power, bothered her. She slid down the trunk and on to her butt. "I dont know what to do, Jackal..."

The sight of Rayne like this made Jackal feel, if possible, even more uneasy. Jack the Ripper was her creator? It made sense as to why Rayne acted the way she did then. Jackal sat down next to Rayne and carefully wrapped her arms around her. "I wont leave you alone." That was the best plan she could come up with at the moment.

Rayne nodded and rested her head on Jackal's shoulder. She knew she could always count on her. Jackal was like a sister to her. She was the only person Rayne ever considered loving, if she ever knew what kind of emotion that was. She let out a sigh and relaxed for a brief moment, hearing the rain come to a slow. The day had stretched so long, it was almost darkening to night now. "Thank you Jackal." She whispered and she gripped her friend's arm, gratefully.

"I will always be here for you." She looked out across the grounds. Everything was a fresh green color. Was there really such a monster out there somewhere? She gave a sigh as her thoughts wandered. "Can you sense him?"

Rayne nodded. "On occasion." She mumbled. Rayne sat still with Jackal until she heard footsteps coming from where they had came from earlier. Rayne whiped a stray tear from her green eye and stood up, trying to keep herself composed, for whoever was following them back to the apartments. "You said you needed to get changed Jackal?" She glanced down at her close friend.
