I got all my "big 4" magazines yesterday and read up on the tests of the 370Z. I have respect for this car, as much as I hate how it looks. It has good performance cabability, and it's good through the quarter-mile. Jenny will still rape one once speeds get past 80 mph though. If I were rich, I'd buy one to show my support of Nissan being smart and fixing the 350Z with this car... but I'm still obligated to help my country and buy American. *Sigh.*

Can't wait for the release here in Oz, its gonna look damn sick! Wonder if the old HKS/Vortech SC system will go into it though; the front end looks quite a bit shorter than the 350's.

Test drove the new model today. At first, I didn't like it... In pictures, it looks like a discordant mess. But, trust me. In person, it all comes together and looks the part. It's a very nice car. Anyways, I drove it. Feels A LOT like my 350Z, only a bit faster. But what I liked most about it was the seven speed paddle shifter gearbox. It's incredibly quick to shift; feels like an F1 racer. Plus, the benefit of having more speeds allows it to be a lot quicker off the line. The interior is immaculate; it's exactly like that of an Infiniti. Overall, it's a brilliant car. So, I asked them how much. The model I drove was the 370Z Touring with the sport package. Four piston brakes all around, vehicle dynamic control, BLOWS system, the works. The final number: $39,885. That's a tad over my price range... I'd rather buy a C6 Z06 for that kind of money. But, once the price comes down, it'll be just as brilliant as the last one was.

Also, it finally lives up to its pedigree as a two seater sports car, because it's FINALLY faster than the Evo and STi, as it should be.

Why not do an engine swap, hmm? And how come Nissan doesn't want to turbo charge these Z's anymore. A 370ZX would be amazing

It'd be too expensive, it'd beg the question. The 300ZX never hit its mark in sales because it was too expensive. If you want a fast Z, there's an aftermarket.

True... But wouldn't you have to rebuild the engine to turbo the Z?

No, not if you're aiming for moderate boost. I have a buddy with a 2004 350Z and a Turbonetics single turbo, running on stock internals. The car makes close to 500 wheel horsepower. One thing I must say, though, is that the car runs SO HOT. If you open the hood after a quick drive, you might be burned by the ambient heat just by standing close. I'm well acquainted with the guys who performed the installation, and they know what they're doing. But I'd never want a car like that.

If its anything like the HKS kit, I sure as hell hope they heat shielded the loom behind the engine several times over AND incorporated an air channel to it. Because a setup like that's just flame-bait. LITERALLY.

Interestingly, I've noticed something about the way he drives that car. He once took me for a ride in it, and never did he exceed 5500 to 6000 RPM. I've also asked him recently if he'd like to join a few friends and I at an upcoming drag day in Englishtown and he declined, saying he doesn't want to subject the car to the strip. Could it be that he can't drive the car hard, for fear it might... Well, explode?
On the other hand, an acquaintance of mine has an '08 C6 with a procharger and some other work done to it. It makes slightly less than 700 wheel horsepower and it runs as cool as an icebox.

Nothing is worse than having the power, than not being able to use it.
I wonder how they found out its power output when they put it on the dyno?
