She'd done it. She'd actually done it. Fae couldn't help but hold her head high as she felt the fish go limp in her jaws with one fluid snap. The white lioness was soaked, dripping. But finally, she'd managed to do it. She'd never been much good at fishing. Or much of anything, really. Other than the herbs Niobe had taught her about, but... what she knew paled in comparison to her mother's knowledge. She wasn't much of a hunter. Wasn't very strong. Couldn't really care for the kits like the other lionesses could. It was about time she started getting something right!
She shook some of the water from her fur as she paced further from shore. Even now, she was such a tiny lioness... but she'd definitely grown into the sleek body of an adult, however small it was. She almost wanted to dart off and show Niobe. But really. It was almost kind of embarrassing, all this for a tiny fish. Maybe when she started bringing more of them home, it'd be different. But for now...
Lunchtime!

While the lioness was celebrating her own triumph, a young teenager was celebrating something of his own.
"And that's that is that!" He told the air about him. Ye-eeesss!! He'd managed to get that burr that was in the very most of inconvenient spots OFF of his skin and out of his fur even, "Haha, I told you that no--Whoa!"
Triumph didn't last long. As involved as he'd been in getting inconvenient burs, he hadn't been paying attention to exactly how close to the high ledge of the river bank he'd been. And, so---down and SPLASH!---the teenager was under water.
A few moments later, he had bobbed up and swam his way to shore, ears laid back and breathing heavily. He shook himself off, grumble-mumbling something under his breath.
Then saw the lioness, "Oh..uhm...uhm..uh---" Belly low now, he figured the best way out of embarrassment was to see about slinking away and pretending she wasn't even there.

*SPLASH!*
Fae jumped a good five feet into the air as something hit the water, hard. Her fur probably would've been standing on end if it hadn't been so soaked to begin with. Her eyes were wide enough to catch the white all around the dark irises, the fish clenched tighter still in her jaws, bones crunching. And she stayed exactly that way, even as she saw a lion pulled himself out of the water. A male - one whose mane was still just growing in. A young teen, at best.
She only finally snapped out of it when he began to creep away. Now, ordinarily? That probably wouldn't have been so bad. There was no telling what this strange lion might be thinking. But he didn't seem too dangerous at a glance (yes, that was coming from her). And there was no telling what a fall like that might have done. Or what had caused it in the first place. What if he was hurt or something? It wouldn't be right to just leave him.
So carefully, anxiously, as if doubting herself every step of the way... she crept after him.

Phoenix Shelley continued to creep away, pretending that the lioness wasn't even there. Then he stuck his head into a bush--his tail end not quite fitting into the enclosure.
No. Lioness. Behind. Him. No Lioness. Behind Him. No Lioness Behind. --- He peered around. Oh. Lioness. She was quiet!
"Oh, uh--uh---uhm, hello." He stuck his head out from underneath the bush and made a bow to her, "I, uhm---" He licked his nose to keep that big drop of water from dripping down it. Would have only added to the unforgiveable embarrassment! "I'm Phoenix Shelley, and, uhm---I'm sorry if I startled you? And if I, uhm---was rude for running away."
Was his ears drooping out of embarrassment or from being all wet?

If she'd only put use to her voice, rest assured she would have been giggling softly at the sight of the teen's tail poking out in plain sight. It was lucky her body and eyes tended to speak so freely where she could not. The unheard laughter easily lit her dark eyes.
She bowed politely back at the teen, and gave him a warm smile as she shook her head. No, no. He didn't need to worry about any of that. Concern took the place of amusement - so was he alright? He seemed to be, but she couldn't know for sure.

Phoenix Shelley stared back at Fae, his paws wiggling in the dirt, and then his nose twitching a bit, and then a whole shiver going through his body.
"Cooolllld."
Wet lion standing in the shade was cold? No way!
He wandered to the grass and started to roll in it, "Ilori says miffsitt h a good way oooet dry!" He called, his voice muffled as he rolled over and found his muzzle at the ground at times. After some time rolling in that, he jumped up, "But Grinch says the best way is to lie in the sun and clean yourself."
He took a few side steps over to a non-rolled-in-spot well in the sun's rays. He looked back at Fae, almost expectantly, nose twitching again at her. "Hello." Another sort-of-bow, as he could anyway lying in the grass like that.

Fae watched as the younger male padded right past her and began rolling around, her head tipped quizzically to a side. She couldn't help a tiny, sort of bemused grin. What on earth was he trying to do? Rolling around like that, he was only going to get everything stuck in his fur.
She gave another bow as he greeted her again, smile brightening. She could understand the confusion. Hopefully sooner or later he'd get the idea. Meanwhile; laying around in the sun did a little better. But she had an even better place to do it. She nudged his should gently with a paw, jerked her head off to a side, and began to take a few steps that way - then peered back over her shoulder at him, hoping he'd take the hint and follow along.

Phoenix Shelley tilted his head at the strange female in some confusion, then bounced upwards when she gave him that inquiring look. "You're really quiet. Are we playing a quiet game? I'm really good at that." He shook himself, walking in a tight circle, then jumped after her, "I--Shh---"
