"I like it here," the lion that a human could possibly describe as raver-colored with his black base, orange and purple markings was sniffing carefully through unknown territory, "If we don't get run off again."

We? There was no one with him, not at first glance anyway.

At a very, very careful glance--- Perhaps caused by thinking one saw something unusual about his fur--one could see that he looked like he had a very, very bad flea infestation.

But if you asked him, he would say that was pure nonsense! Fleas? No way! If any lea dared come near him, his eight-legger friends would be sure to eat 'em right up. Nothing was going to eat HIM!

Eight-legger friends? Oh... oh, yeah... Looking even closer into that mess of fur, those weren't over-sized fleas, those were spiders. For the most part, they went unseen in his thick mane and dark fur, but they were mostly certainly there. Only one of them didn't hide itself, and this one currently stood on Cygnus Araña's nose.

Yup, anyone seeing Cygnus would probably be too preoccupied by the spider on his nose to really notice the other spiders in his fur. Was he talking to the spider???

Of course he was.

"Or if there's nothing that'll eat us and send us packing again," Cygnus noted, "Oh, hello!" The last was addressed to an unknown lion, "Forgive me, I'm new to the territory. Do you know of any good unmarked land?"

Galatea hadn't ventured far from home. As usual. Just a brief jaunt for some fresh air and some quiet time, as usual. But also, as usual... quiet time had a way of being anything but quiet. The small lioness had a feeling she wasn't alone; she'd scented him, sort of. But it didn't stop her from giving a start when she heard a strange voice so close by. She whirled around to peer at the lion - from a distance, she couldn't tell at all. She hadn't even realized that he hadn't been speaking to her from the start. She ducked her head at first, nervously, bangs falling before her dark eyes as she backed up a step or two. But his question was innocent enough; right? She moved up again, tilting her head curiously to a side. Unmarked land? Was he planning on starting a pride?

She didn't know much about that sort of thing. Their borders were one thing, but... she tended to skirt away from other prides. Didn't want trouble.

Cygnus Araña's ears fell back, his tail immediately falling between his legs, and his head bowing, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. Please forgive me, and please don't send anyone to attack us. We mean no harm. We will leave an go elsewhere."

He apologize profusely, lying down even as he did so to show her that there really wasn't any harm met. Just--please don't hate him for existing!

Fae blinked once. Twice. Three times the charm. Was he... actually more afraid of her than she was of him? She crept a step or two closer, her head and tail low. The fear had drained right out of her stance. It wasn't like she could come out and tell him everything was alright - but she always found other ways to get her message across. This would be no exception.

She eased forward to try and nudge at his shoulder, reassuringly... until her nose touched something that definately wasn't fur. The lioness' eyes went wide with alarm again, and again, she jumped back, her nose twitching furiously. What the -- ?!

Cygnus' ears had gone up, his tail coming out---that touch certainly hadn't felt like she was going to harm him. He lifted his head a bit to offer her a---OOh, and then she jumped BACK again and--and the little eight leggers were yelling about--Oh!

"It's my little lion friends. Please don't be alarmed, they won't harm you." Cygnus again sounded almost pleading, "See? Like Valcor here." His eyes crossed as he looked at the spider on his nose, "He and his family and extended family and friends and their families and extended families are all with me. We don't mean any harm, really."

Fae's eyes were wide. She shook her head slowly. Little lion friends? But those were... were those all... goodness, he'd even named them? The lioness peered back and forth, unsure how to react at first. She wasn't a big fan of spiders. Maybe she could handle one or two. But an entire lion full of them, crawling all over? That was a bit much.

She took a deep, long breath. Okay. Kind of scary. But not dangerous. That was the important thing here. Besides, the lion sounded so desperate, so afraid. She knew what that was like; she wouldn't wish it on anyone, much less add to it. Fae forced herself to nod, forcing a tiny smile. Okay. Yes, she got it. No, she wasn't going to run off and start a hunting party for him. Being sort of creeped out and being in danger were two very different things, after all.

Cygnus Araña smiled back at Fae, though his eyes looked a little sad, "I understand. This is your home and you don't wish for my pride to come this way. We'll go around and find a different land. Just----" He frowned, "---can you tell me if there are any little lion hunters and eaters out this way? That is what we are leaving behind and trying to avoid. -- Valcor! AH-CHOO!"

The last admonishment had been to the spider on his nose. He had just gone a little too far upwards, tickling--prompting the sneeze that subsequently sent the spider flying through the air and then landing on Fae's paw.

Fae's ears flattened as the lion spoke, and she began to shake her head again. No, no - was he taking her silence as rejection? Well of course he was. It was the logical thing to think. But that wasn't it at all! Just because spiders were creepy... how could she show him?

The answer came without her even realizing. The lioness didn't even realize what had just happened until she felt a tickle on her paw. She looked down, and there it was, staring back up at her with its eight beady eyes. Her eyes went wide, yet again, her lips parting in a silent cry of alarm as she began to recoil, looking about ready to jump into the air. Or shake the thing loose. Or even do both at once.

But she didn't. Her ears were back, her body was tense, and her eyes were still wide as she peered back at Cygnus. She lifted her paw in the air, flinching as the little intruder began to crawl on along, pleading with her eyes for him to come and reclaim his little 'friend'.

Cygnus Araña swiftly put his nose out to the lioness's paw, gently nudging her while the spider jumped back onto his nose and skittered back up to the edges of his mane.

"I'm terribly sorry," He apologized, "Valcor knows better, but he said he wanted a closer look at you." He grinned a bit in amusement, "I don't believe he meant to get that close though." He tilted his head, then looked around a bit, "Where should I head off to?"
