It has been a long week since the birth and both children have emerged from their bundles...

She wasn't sure if this was the best decision. Arry walked slowly towards the forest as her two children, Mahina and Milo, ran behind. Mahina was constantly picking on Milo. She pondered if it would be better if she handed over Mahina instead of Milo to Phoreko. He would probably rather have a son to raise though...or not. She scrunched up her face wondering how this will turn out. Surly he wouldn't hurt his own flesh and blood...

Mahina knock off biting your brother's ear! She scooped her up with her wing so she was facing her. Milo hung close to her inner leg for protection.

"Mooooom put me down! Dad will never want to take him away if he's like that!" She glared at her mother, face in a pout. Mahina had a love hate relationship with her brother she couldn't stand how timid and helpless he was. All she wanted him to do was fight back.

Arry layed her daughter down. Don't touch him. She bumped her daughters bum. They were getting close to where Phoreko lurked about. Arry looked about in 'hopes' of seeing him.

Mahina trotted ahead of her mom a few paces. "Wheres dad toooOOooo!" She whined. Mahina was very impatient. Noticing a squirrel scuttling about at the base of the closes tree, she lunged towards it. One clean sweep she decapitated it. "Gotcha!"

Desperately clinging to his mother's foreleg, he glanced about rapidly. He was weary of this patch of woods. Unlike the other groves that Arry had taken them to, these seemed... evil. Shivering rather violently, he ducked further beneath her until he was literally tented by her massive frame.

"D-do we have... to see... Daddy?"

Mother rarely spoke of him, and when she did, it was hard to decipher whether she cared for him or loathed him. This never seemed to alarm Mahina. She continued to prance about the forest's edge, tormenting the wild life when an almost choking aura began to befall the trio.

For once in many years, his fur was not caked with blood of his victims. After the birthing, Phoreko had retreated to his hallow, racking his mind on what the best course of action would be. He meant to keep his word to that Maiden: the slaughters would continue without fail; however, how was he to abandon his new found responsibility?

Responsibility... he snorted, disliking the sound of it. With a shake of his maw, he lept off of the tree he had perched on and began to pad off, sneering. Maybe Valekai's imbecile of a bonded with take the mutt...

It was than he shuddered, much as he had done when he witnessed Arry writhe in pain. Slowly he peered backward. Mere inches from his lowly draped tail was the female of the children, jeering over a decapitated squirrel. With a snap, he reared about and glared towards Arry.

Why the hell would you bring them here?!

Mahina swung around from the squirrel. "DaaAAAaaaaaad!" Grabbing the squirrel she ran towards him and latched onto his left leg. Unsure what to do next she dropped the squirrel down and look up at him blinking. He was so big compared to her...

She stroked her sons head. It'll be fine. Don't worry... She hugged him close with her arm.

Hello ...dear.She shifted lightly forward so not to knock her son over. I brought them here so they could meet you. Mahina desperately wanted to see you...and well... She looked down at the little one close to her. I wanted to know if you would take Milo....to look after him. It'll will be the best for him. She lingered on those last words. He needs a father figure...the poor fella is scared witless all the time...As much as she loved both her children she was worried if Milo didn't grow a spine it will be the end for him and well maybe she would see a new side of Phoreko...maybe one she could love? She watched her daughter with caution.

Immediately he cowered beneath his mother, seeking any bit of warmth he could get as he bore witness to this ravenous beast. His fur, his lashing tongue, his exposed skull, everything screamed malicious. How could this... thing be his father?

"Mother! Mother!" Milo cried, clinging to her rear leg and burying himself in her plumeage, "Don't leave me with him! Please! I'll be good! I promise! Please... please!"

And than, he began to weep.

An immeasurable amount of animosity coursed forth from him as he peered down to the child before him. With a snort, he swept a leg to the side, shoving the girl into a nearby patch of shubbery while he strode forward. Soon, his face was nearly brushing onto Arry's as his gaze seered within her emerald orbs.

You think I could be a father? You and I are bother well aware of just how much of a b*****d I am. What possessed you to even think to leave me with one of these tramps?

With one quick movement Arry extended her paw across Phoreko’s face. How dare you call them that! She was furious. It takes two to tango Phoreko! She sneered at him. And you will be just as responsible for them as I will! She tucked her wing next to the shaken Milo. You can be a good…decent father if you try hard enough! Your parents protected you with all their heart from what you were telling me. She reminisce their first encounter. Mahina and Milo would want the same out of their father. Would you try? I would have expected you to want your children to be strong like what you project. Are you strong Phoreko?

Mahina sat up in the shrubby dumbstruck at what just happened to her and between her mom and dad. Daddy must be playing she thought. Mom said he was a savage one time when she mentioned him. “I still love you daddy…” She stood up, never bothering to pick out the assortment of leaves matted in her fur. Mom looks angry. She trotted over to her moms’ side, and jammed herself in under her wing in attempt to drag Milo out casue she was getting bored. "MiiiiiiloooOooo! Stop being a wimp!"

Ever so slightly his head gave way to the blow, tilting gently to the side. Allowing only his eyes to roll back to peer into her stare, Phoreko chuckled.

Your attempt at guilting me to be a good father is quite amusing. I'll give you that. As for my parents, I've no doubt they struggled to protect me... but for these little whelps, what is there to protect them from? You keep them away from me and they're perfectly safe!

Yet another sneer. Arrogance permeated from him. Though his blood muddled through their veins, he'd have to part in this... that was what he had believed; however, the constant yelping and pathetic drawls from his son had begun to drive him insane.

"Stop it, Mia!" he cried, desperately trying to remain hidden beneath his mother. Unfortunately, Mahina's vigorous tugs caused him to topple out into view. An immediate torrent of fear welled up within him as he saw Phoreko towering over him. Haunches and head lowered, Milo could no longer find the strength to utter a single word.

You wish for me to take care of this?

With one lumbering step, Phoreko drug Milo up by the round of his neck by lapping his lash-like tongue about him. Dragging the wriggling form before him while simultaneously tightening the lash and lifting a row of talons to tap along his trembling lips, he stared up at his lover in defiance while digging the ridges of his talons into the subtle flesh of his son.

Gladly! Maybe than we can have a sensible discussion like the adults you so wish for us to be with a little less noise!

Strangling your son? Arry stood her ground. As much as it hurt her to see him do this she knew he wouldn't kill his only son. His first born. Mahina take your brother and go play over there while me and your father has a talk. She stared him in the eyes as she said this.

"Daaaaddy mom said put him down we're leaving! Now yous got him all goooooey!" Mahina screwed up her face; her lower lip arched to the side. "Lets go to that small brook Milo!" She ran around her father. " We can play drown the critter!"

Arry shook her head. Poor Milo. See Phoreko that's who he needs to be protected from. She's a little terror.Arry sighed. She so turned out like you...soon she'll be going around killing larger things. Or attempt it and get herself hurt or killed! She sneaks away from me at times when I'm dealing with Milo. Lucky for the bonding or I would never find her. She killed the neighbors dog a few days ago; you know that! If it get's suspected she was behind it the humans will be after us! She looked over at the kids. It's hard to keep my eyes on the two of them.

With each breath, the lash about his son's neck grew tighter until the dingy pup fought desperately for air. He could kill him in that instant. Would any pang of regret surface? Even he was unsure. The boy was a Winiko after all, and in his eyes... just another lowesome creature amongst millions; however, Arry's persistance proved to agitate him far worst than the pathetic yowls of his spawn.

One swift jerk and Milo flew through the air until he collided with a nearby tree trunk. His painful cry was soon drowned by Phoreko as he approached Arry.

Why are you so adamant about all of this? If you're so concerned about the brats, dump them off onto your bonded. Humans are so easily deterred by the young and the helpless. he snorted Which would explain why your current bonded is so enamored with you...

From the moment Phoreko grasped hold of him, Milo was struck by an immeasurable amount of horror. This beast would surely kill him. He bore no sympathy, no emotion. He sought only to inflict pain. It had been a relief when he was released... yet it lasted for just a moment. A distinct crack sounded as he crashed into the tree. When he crumpled to the soil below, he cooed quietly to himself. Glancing to his left shoulder, Milo could feel the pain lap over him in waves: surely he broke something.

Mahina was soon at his side, bounding about and completely oblivious to the perol he had just faced. He continued to sniffle, glancing back to his mother in desperation before he slowly gathered himself up onto his paws in an attempt to follow his sister. For once it his life, he feared something far more than Mahina... and for good reason.

Pain swelled in her heart as she watched her son smack hard against the tree. Mahina take care of your brother…don’t hurt him!
Her emotions were a whirl wind; if her children weren’t close by she would have attacked Phoreko then and there. She may not have survived but she didn’t care. Arry restrained herself from taking such action; instead she dug her claws deep into the ground.

Fine! Her body tensed. I’ll take them both and you will never see them again.... I will arrange something with your human bonded for Milo. I truly didn't think you would want your son to be raised by a human?... but if that's what it comes to then that will how it will be!

Mahina didn't want to listen to her mother; she never really did but Milo did look hurt. "Suck it up...your a demon!...the pain will go away soon." She jumped across the brook one rock at a time. She knew how quickly a bump or bruise healed. She always had them. "Are you coming?"

The sheer amount of distasteful amusement that had welled up within him seemed to once more overpower his repulse for the entire situation. Gently craning his head to the side in order to catch a glimpse of his now maimed son, he snickered.

No, no... that is what you would want. You'd want the two to be pressed to your bosom so they don't come out like me. I'll take the boy...

A distortion of air and snow enveloped the patch of space he had once occupied. Regurgitated from the Inbetween, Phoreko forcefully pressed his mass against Arry, his tongue lolling at her cheek in defiance.

But the next time you see the whelp... don't expect him to be striken by just my poor hide genes.

Each step racked his frail frame with pain; however, he managed to persevere. His sister was the spitting image of a wild child: no doubt she had been sprung from this monstrosity known as Phoreko. But he...

"Mia..." he began while on the verge of tears, "... they're going to split us up... a-and... I'm scared."

She then now knew she made a mistake. Arry tipped her head down and away as his tongue touched her. She looked at him in disgust. Why would you hurt your own flesh and blood Phoreko!? I could care less about the rest of the lives you destroy but why hurt a one that is part of you…

“Oh don’t start crying.” She batted at a small fish, “I thought you didn’t want to be around me?” Using her bird claw she harpooned it. “If ya go with daddy then I can’t pick on ya anymore!” She cut the fish open so blood and guts spewed out. Snickering she threw it at him.

This never ending loop of the same inquiry had begun to drive Phoreko mad. Why did she insist on asking him of his spawn? He was just another Winiko... who just happened to have been sprung from his seed. Why should it matter? Yet here she was, the nightingale for whom he both despised and adored. The anger welling within that porcelain maw somehow managed to tug at what withered strings remained about his corrupted heart.

I... don't know. Arry...

The first time in which he actually uttered her name. His intense glare seemed to gradually soften to that of contemplation.

You and I are both well aware of my tendencies. I'm detached, devoid of any sort of... morality, but you... You're the only one for whom I...

He paused. How could he describe this one emotion that had manifested within this short amount of time? Surely it was not love. He had rationalized this time and time again. Lacking the words, he merely pawed off down the path a short duration until he reached the decapitated squirrel.

"But..." he trotted forward, still limping. Extending one claw, he poked at the ravaged fish gingerly. It was quite repulsive; however, he persevered in an attempt to just this once connect with his sister.

"Won't you miss picking on me?"

Arry was stunned for that short second. She quickened her pace as she decided to follow after him. For whom you…what? Phoreko? She glanced at the squirrel then walked pass it to face him. They were out of sight of the kids now. As concerned as she was on what Phoreko had to say she also wondered what the children were doing since she never heard Milo bawling.

Mahina teetered on a rock. That is true; the little whiner wouldn’t be around for her to pick on anymore. To bad.
“No.” She leapt over next to him; giving him a shove she pushed him in the murky water. “It would be better if you were gone!” Truthfully she hated how her mom cooed over him. It was always ‘Milo this and Milo that.’ Mahina was jealous of all the times she spent with him and not her. Yet she wouldn’t dare show this weakness.

No

It was as simple as this. Though he was fully aware of their ongoing rivalry and the constant bickering, being so thoroughly dismissed as if a mere pest skittering about her hide was disheartening to say the least. His mother sought to hand him to a beast of a father who would assuredly torture him. Denounced by both parents, he had taken solice in perhaps his sister would find some small fragment of sympathy for him.

But alas... he was alone.

With a shuddering breath, Milo turned on his heels while Mahina was distracted by yet another defenseless fish. It was better this way.

Peering into those emerald spheres, Phoreko began to feel flustered. He should not have uttered those words, since now the nightingale had once more flit into view.

I...

A crunch of branch and debris steered his attention elsewhere. Lifting a taloned paw defensively, he scoured their surroundings to locate the source.

Milo emerged, unusually stern. So vigorously he attempted to hide away the maelstrom of resentment and sorrow as he faced both his mother and father.

"I'll go with you..."

She swung her head over in the direction Phoreko was looking. Milo stood there and somethign was odd about him. What!?...You want to go now Milo? Arry's heart actually felt like it stopped. She stepped over near him and placed her paw on his small cheek. She knew her decision was harsh;not sensible but she never imagined her son would want to go with his father. She held back her tears. This emotion was foreign for Arry.

Mahina peered down at her rippling reflection and her wicked grin. She poked one claw at the water; rolling over she looked up at the sky and laughed. "Hmmmm maybe I should head back and see daddy before he leaves." she said to no one. Hopping up she twitched her frayed wings and pranced triumphantly thought the grass. Just me and mum.
