The slight taps of flesh to polished floor filled the hallways with echoes. The footsteps became much more frequent as the owner of them came to a screeching and unfortunate halt than fall. Del had slipped out of the vicinity of her room due to hunger. Her side pouch, which was usually filled with dried nuts and sometimes fruit, had lost its fill. It was more clumsiness than mistake that caused Del to lose her only snack since she dropped her pouch and its contents on the floor of her room. Since the "four second rule" never existed with Del, she had to clean up the mess and set her empty side-pouch aside for later.

But Del was still hungry. It took her long to persuade herself, but she finally came to the decision to travel to the LOTUS kitchen and obtain something to relieve herself of her nagging stomach. Darkness has become a problem also, as even though some light was offered, she was still quite horrible in the dark. After cursing in to herself in Mongolian dialect, Del picked herself off the floor and continued towards the door to the kitchen. Tapping her knuckle upon the door, it was an uncommon gesture to her. But since it seemed to be well-known by others of LOTUS, Del had no choice but to follow with it.

She waited there for a minute, dancing on each foot with a slight hop. Her hair which was usually neatly coiled up with dangles and chimes was now sprawled out into twisted loops. An nightgown covered her entire body, making her look like a petrifying ghost. Seeing as though no one opened the kitchen door, Del shoved it open herself only to be taken into an even darker room. Oh great...How was she to obtain something to eat now?

He was bored in his room all alone, missing the Irish lass that had so filled his days with amusement, and just generally being a bored Irishman with naught to but putter about. And so, the tall Irishman threw on some pajama bottoms over his plaid boxers and slid his shoes into his fuzzy slippers before peeking out of his door and slowly sneaking down to the kitchens. Shane had done considerable recon in the kitchen the past couple of weeks and so knew that right now no one should be in there. The perfect time to sneak in and cook up a nice snack without getting beat over the head with a rolling pin or chased unceremoniously from the area.

The quick, excited strides he took slowed tremendously as he approached the kitchen only to find the door already open. With a pause, he stood and stared at it for a moment with baited breath hoping and praying the light wouldn't go on and the kitchen lasses weren't actually in there cooking. After a few short seconds, his curiosity got the better of him and he shuffled forward a bit slowly as he tried to peek into the dark to see who was in there.

Blue eyes squinted as he tried to make something out of the darkness, and he finally approached the door and pushed it just a little bit wider as he entered the room and tentatively reached out for the light switch and said, in his flavored Irish lilt, "Anyone in here?" Better to know if anyone was than to not and get surprised by a rolling pan later. Or at least it was in his eyes - if it was a kitchen lass waiting to catch any sneaks, he could always make up a story about being hungry...or run like a mad man to escape her if it came to it, after all.

Hearing a voice speak up amongst the inky darkness made Del jump heavily. Her first initial instinct caused her to spasm to her legs and run, causing cooking ware to clatter to the floor and dried ingredients to spill from their holders. Tucking herself between the corners of two cabinets, Del stayed curled up. However, she figured it could only just be another of LOTUS. So evidently, she had nothing to worry about. Loosening her muscles and relaxing herself, Del forwarded a small walk towards the door. "I in here." she cheeped as she meekly tickled her hand against the wall to search for that switch that supplies light.

Pushing her hair out of her face in doing so, Del felt something furry touch the tips of her fingers. She screamed hastily, her shriek even hurting her own ears. After further inspection, it appeared to only be a dishtowel. But Del was still utterly frightened.

The sound of a woman's voice from within the darkness that surrounded them surprised the Irish man and he couldn't help but let out a small gasp. In the moment of shock he had withdrawn his hand and taken a step or two back, but once he had recovered he stepped forward once more, reaching again for the light switch only to be caught off guard again by the sound of a shrill scream. One hand reached to cover his ears as he winced at the noise, and the other quickly flicked on the switch.

As the light flooded the room, he squinted from momentary blindness as his pupils contracted to accommodate the new amount of light within the room, and so it took him a few minutes to catch sight of the woman that had cried out.

"Are you all right, lass?"

A slight flex of her head caused her to nod towards Shane. "I am alright." she replied towards Shane in conjunction with her nod. Even though she had calm down now, her face seemed sullen. Del had felt like she had done something wrong and was caught in the middle of it all. Trying her best, she ushered out the reason why she had come into the kitchen. "I was h-hungry. Need something to eat..."

Sighing heavily, Del could feel the cold ground beneath her toes. It had not bothered her before. But than again, it tickled her sensations when she finally realized it. It was probably late at night. Besides the man standing in front of her, she hoped she didn't wake anyone else up.

As the woman nodded her head to the affirmative and added in a verbal acknowledgment that she was, in fact, all right, the tall man let loose a breathe of relief. Still, though, it was curious that she had wandered into the kitchen - without turning the light on, and as she spoke again, the man tilted his head slightly as one dark eyebrow slowly rose towards his hairline. Had the woman not eaten at dinner time? Or perhaps she, like him, found the food to be sub-par?

With a smile on his face, the man waved his hands around the kitchen with a twinkle in his eyes, "Well, lass, what would you like to eat?" There was more than enough food, and as someone who well knew his way around a kitchen, he would be more than happy to cook up enough for two if she wanted something he liked. Shane then turned his attention to the fridge, long strides taking him quickly to its location before one hand pulled it open, and he bent at the waist to peruse its contents. Perhaps just a quick snack, or something simple would be best...light meals were best at midnight, since the digestive system wasn't wanting to digest as well as it would during the day. They were supposed to be in bed, after all.

Del stood straight as her caramel eyes followed Shane as he directed himself over towards the refrigerator. Moving towards the counter, Del took a seat. At the asking of a question, Del turned her forefinger and thumb into an oval and cupped it under her chin in a thinking position. "Anything you have, I have." she replied, since she really did not have a particular craving that moment.

Drumming her fingers together in a patient gesture, Del tilted her head. She wondered where the man in front of her had came from as he certainly did not appear to be Mongolian. Her mind drifted off into thoughts of the different kinds of foreign dishes he probably has feasted on since he seems to have been there longer than her. Breaking herself from her trance was a light queasy sound from her stomach. She was surely hungry. "Um...Where are you from?" she asked, pausing every so little while to say a word right. "I from Mongolia, if you not already know."

The tall man rummaged through the refrigerator glad for the door being on the same side of his body as Del was when he grimaced at her indecision on what she wanted to eat. There wasn't much that was 'snackworthy' in his opinion, and so the man settled on pulling out some leftover turkey from their dinner that night and some bread. Shane pulled back from the fridge long enough to set both down on the counter, grinning up at the woman as he did so, "Now don't go eating this before I've made the sandwiches, all right?"

That said, the man returned to the fridge where he began his hunt for some gravy. Slightly bothered that he could find none, he instead pulled out some mayonnaise and mustard, having concluded they would serve to moisten the sandwich in gravy's stead. Once again the Irishman returned to the counter, this time pulling out a butter knife from a drawer near to his work station, before he caught on to the fact that the woman had asked him a question. There was a slight pause as Shane glanced up from his work, a quizzical look on his face as he searched through his recent memories to see just what the woman had asked. After a slight "aha!" moment in his mind, he smiled, "I'd be from Ireland, lass." A slight pause occurred before he added, having a feeling she'd not know where that was, "That'd be in Europe. Over by England."

Returning to his work, Shane deftly pulled out four slices of bread and several pieces of turkey before neatly spreading mayo on two slices of bread and squirting mustard onto the other two. Briefly the man flashed his brilliant blue eyes back towards the woman as he laid the turkey onto the bread pieces, "What was Mongolia like?" Upon completely his question, he laid the mustard covered pieces of bread over the turkey side and sliced the sandwiches into halves before placing them on a plate and grabbing a paper towel for each of them to use for their hands when they were done. Lifting one of the two plates, the Irishman strode towards the woman and neatly laid the plate on the counter for her with the paper towel right next to it, "Here you are, lass, a cold turkey sandwich for a midnight snack!"

Flashing another of his charming smiles, Shane returned to his own plate and pulled up a tall bar stool to the counter before digging in.
