Sly was grinning from where he was standing confident upon a tree limb, this newest feat made him toss his head back in a cocky manner. As the firstborn he had quite the manner about him, pride radiated from his every pore. He was always slipping into the darkness away from his parents and siblings and this evening was no exception.
Sly carefully sat himself down and slowly crept to lay on the thick branch, he wasn't sure how he was going to get down yet but it wasn't bothering him. His raccoon pelt shielded him and the incoming darkness aided in making it seem as if no more then a raccoon was perched in the tree.

Nerio stalked a dung beetle as it crawled across the forest floor. Her nose was hard pressed against the ground as she attempted to track the bug in the rising dark. The soft of her puppy belly raked against the ground as she tried to be as stealthy as she could.
Her smokey blue-grey eyes watched as the dung beetle attempt to dig its way into a knot hole of a tree. She watched for another second before leaped towards the bug. A split second too late, Nerio went crashing into the tree trunk instead, landing on the ground with a thud.

Sly blinked as he felt the tree give a tiny vibration, he peered down and grinned as he spotted another shape his size below. Perfect opportunity to get down from his tree limb. He smirked and crouched on the branch before flinging himself down like a wildcat to land on the other pup.
"Boo!" He winced as he hit the other pup and the ground, hard. He felt his hind legs give a painful jolt and his front paws buckled under him sending him into a painful little tumble over the other pup as well.
Well he was normally much more graceful, but still that kind of dive would need practice to make perfect. He struggled to his feet and shook his head still a bit dazed by the throb of pain coming from his left front paw.

Nerio yelped in surprise as something barreled into her from above, twice. For a second or two, she struggled and squirmed beneath the weight, shoving her nose and paws here and there, trying to get out.
When she finally felt the weight leave her, she gave her puppy-snarl towards the unwelcoming object. The object was another puppy. Nerio stopped her snarling, but her eyes were narrowed and body rigid.
Are you an idiot!, was the question she wanted to ask, but instead she aggressively asked, "Who are you?"

Sly grinned as the pain slowly throbbed away, he threw his head up and held back a chuckle. "Scared ya didn't I?"
His eyes narrowed as he looked over the other pup, she didn't look very frightened. Infact she seemed upset and she had snarled at him. He shook off and gave her a more charming smile leaning in.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you. I'm Sly, who are you?" He tried to look innocent, and sympathetic. Of course his intent had been to frighten her but now that very idea was laughable, why would he ever what to frighten her?

Debating whether to answer or not, Nerio took a step back, suspicious about the other pup getting so close to her. Was he planning on attacking her again? Her eyes registered his some-what angelic expression which made her nearly double back in surprise. Now Nerio understood, at least a little, Sly.
Nerio rolled her eyes as she sat down on her hind legs and began to lick a paw, "Uh huh. I'm sure you're sorry." She watched him from the corners of her eyes, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Nerio. I'm Nerio."

"Nerio, thats a pretty name. Are you okay?" He moved even closer trying to gain her confidence despite how he had started off on the wrong paw.
He circled her quickly before sitting down infront of her with a sweet grin. "What are you doing out here all alone?"

Nerio wanted to sniff at the question. Was she ok? How would he feel if someone fell on top of them? Instead, she ignored it and answered the later, "I was tracking a dung beetle, but it disappeared inside that tree. The tree you fell from."

Sly grinned and let his tail brush the earth behind him, back and forth. "I didn't fall, I never fall. I leapt!" His grin became a smirk before he schooled his expression into one of mild concern.
"I'm glad your not hurt though." He leapt up and tipped his muzzle. "I will help you find your dung beetle as an apology!" He looked at her with a smirk that said he was rather pleased with himself to making such an offer and clearly expected her gratitude, and perhaps some fawning.

Cocking her head to the side, Nerio did another quick inspection of the pup. He did seem like he was being sincere... The girl-pup gave an inner sigh before getting on all fours. "Leap? Ok, sure."
She took a few steps towards the tree and turned her head just enough to meet Sly's eyes. "Well aren't you coming? You better find me my dung beetle." Nerio gave a puff as she waited, her tail erect in a rather bossy manner similar to that of a cat.

What no fawning? Well...perhaps she would fawn over him once he found her dung beetle again. His nose twitched and he moved to follow the scent hoping to track the insect.
"So whats so great about this beetle hmm? Can you eat it?" He wrinkled his nose. "No doesn't smell edible..." His tail wavered high as his nose practically brushed the ground while he followed the scent.
