It'd been raining for a few days now. Day and night, the rain poured down from the sky, able to wash away the muck and the filth that hung about the city air. Kepi had noticed long ago, that while and right after it rained, the air had a brilliant, new scent to it. Thus was why she was currently tucked away, sitting outside her caravan door; the ledge above the door itself, produced a sort of refuge and kept the rain from falling upon her... at least, just barely.

Owen lay snuggled in her arms, looking half sour, though if it was due to the fact he hated water, or if it was due to having been forced to become a prisoner since the downpour had started, was still to be seen. The small feline produced a mournful 'meow' as he hid his head under the Koshka's arm, having had enough of the 'show' that nature was offering them, "Aww... come on. It smells good," she told the cat, whom lifted his head only just barely to glare at her before hiding it again, "I'd let you go, but if I do, you'll get either my caravan or Karan's all wet," she continued, "It's either this, or sleeping under the rain, which would you rather?" the cat in her arms produced no sounds aside from a low grumble, "That's what I thought."

However, no sooner had she said that, that Owen jerked away from her, stumbling off the koshka's lap and into a puddle, no doubt in an attempt to get away. He couldn't really be blamed; he'd been kept inside for three days now, and despite the fact he was a 'pet', he had been born an alley cat and needed his space. When the small feline came in contact with the water, he hissed at it and stood on all four to shake himself off, to no avail, "Hey, wait!" Kepi was already getting up, however, hesitated at the entrance; despite the fact she like the rain's scent, she did not very much appreciate the idea of going under the downpour. However, when the cat looked up one last time and zoomed away across the troupe ground, the girl only lost a second before bolting after it.

She gave chase to her pet for a very long time, zig zagging through caravans, ducking under wooden shelters, crawling under wagons in an attempt to reach for the cat. To no avail however. Kepi was forced to give up the persecution when Owen ducked under a fence and ran off to only God knew where. Of course... that left the koshka wet, muddy and looking worse for wears, "What am I going to do with you," she murmured as the cat vanished down an alley way and out of sight. Turning her head down, she inspected herself, pondering how long it'd take her to get back to her own caravan, however, was cut off when she sneezed forcefully. Swiftly, she decided, instead, to pad over towards Karan's, which was thankfully, much nearer than her own. Knocking on the door, she idly wondered if he kept any of her own spare sets of clothes in there. Lord knew she got into enough trouble to warrant him having a set of clothes for her to wear in there, specialty seeing as how she usually favoured his damned caravan over hers anyways. Anya had already commented something about her giving up and moving into his caravan; the conversations always ended with the boy looking horribly awkward and flustered and kepi wondering if she should, indeed move in. The only thing that kept her from doing so was the agitated way Karan always cut off Anya when she started said conversation.

Karan was actually rather oblivious to the fact that Kepi had just dashed through the troupe grounds in vain in an attempt to catch their scruffy, pain-in-the-a** cat. In fact, Karan was actually happily oblivious to most things at the moment. Tucked away inside his caravan, he had music sheets spread out around him (on the bed, some in the floor) and seemed to be tackling a rather large song. While he wasn't particularly fond of going out in the rain (he really disliked fur the fur on his ears to get wet), he found that while he was indoors, it was a beautiful catalyst to his productiveness. The soft patter, the wind against the sides of his caravan, it all gave him a sense of peace.

At first, the knock on the door was lost upon deaf ears, his fingers flying across the parchment as he hummed lightly to himself. Then, moments after he initially heard it, he realized that it was quite a different sound than the normal knocking produced by the wind; it was more intentional, with a specific rhythm. With a slight frown on his face, he pushed himself up and cross the floor carefully to the door, so as not to step on any of the papers. Lucky for him that most of the papers were confined to the area around his bed, because as soon as he opened the door he realized just why she was there.

"Kepi," he groaned aloud, reaching out to take her by the arm and tug her inside, "what on earth have you been doing? You're not supposed to play in the rain, it'll make you sick." He refrained from mentioning that he thought cats didn't like rain (he couldn't imagine being covered from head to toe in the fur on his ears and then getting wet) and simply sighed at her. "Hurry up and get in here, you're going to catch a cold, and Anya'll blame me for it no doubt."

Somehow, this didn't really surprise him - he should have been watching her. She always seemed to get into some kind of mess when he wasn't around. He supposed the fact that she wasn't in his caravan bothering him already should have been a grand clue that she was up to no good and doing things she really shouldn't have been.

"I..." for a moment, the koshka seemed half torn between actually explaining WHAT she had been doing out to get so wet and shutting her mouth and letting him assume. After all, the poor boy was doubtlessly used to scenes like this by now, "I... wasn't playing. Owen ran off, and I thought he might catch a cold, so I chased him, but... he rushed off down the alley," it was clear that even SHE thought that giving chase after the cat through the whole of Erasmus under the rain was a bad idea. Amusingly enough.

She grabbed her tail between her hands and squeezed it dry from water in an attempt to keep his caravan decently clean before stepping in, "Anya knows better than to blame you for it, I'm sure oh god, it's cold," she didn't need a second invitation to come in, however, she tried her best to keep away from the many parchments and papers that were spread across the floor, "It's my fault; I kept Owen in for a few days. I think he misses his girlfriend," almost as if struck by instinct, she started to shake herself off, though she stopped almost as soon as she'd positioned her head to give it a shake and twitched mildly, her ears drooping, "Do you have a towel?" a pause, as Kepi pondered this for a second, "Actually, a lot of towels. Lots of them," fur did not dry easily after all.

His notion was pretty much correct; it seemed that whenever the girl wasn't with him, something that probably shouldn't catch her attention, would, and she'd get herself into some sort of sticky mess. She'd gotten stuck on a tall branch of one-too-many trees (ironically enough), and had managed to somehow fall into creaks and rivers and puddles. She'd walked in on people within the troupe when she.... doubtlessly shouldn't have and had been forced to rush off with her hands covering her eyes more than once; she'd learnt to knock on doors mostly due to the fact she'd walked in on more than one scene she wished she hadn't had, "Anya keeps saying I should move in here," she murmured as she curled her tail around her leg, "Maybe I should," the last words were whispered mostly to herself as if pondering them; she was less prone to getting into sticky situations when Karan was around.

God, did that make him her babysitter?

Kepi shrunk slightly into herself in mild embarrassment, though the sneeze that forced itself through her nose was enough to distract her thoughts for the time being.

"Well, I guess as long as you didn't do it on purpose," he said softly, watching her with a frown as she walked in. He shut the door behind her and turned towards the dresser, starting to dig through the clothes. He frowned as he realized that he actually didn't have a spare set of clothes for her - he probably had at one point, but knowing her, she'd already exhausted his supply. He dug out a spare shirt and pants of his own though, much like he had the first time she was drenched to the bone and standing inside his caravan. He turned back to her and motioned to the clothes before setting them to the side. She did have to dry off first.

"I wouldn't worry about Owen, I'm pretty sure he can take care of himself. Besides, I don't think cats get colds very easily," he shrugged and turned to go rummaging through another drawer at her request. "He was an alley cat, you can't expect him to behave." He was actually being rather polite about it, because he often cursed Owen for being such a pain. He'd probably scold him later for making Kepi chase him and consequently getting her wet. He finally managed to find his towels and scooped some up, tucking them under his arm before he turned back to her.

It was the next words out of her mouth, though, that made him pause. "Kepi, I dunno if that's such a good idea," he whispered, ears drooping slightly and his eyes shifting down to stare at the floor, where a small puddle of water was forming despite her best attempts to keep the caravan dry. At least his papers weren't near. He cleared his throat a little and walked over, setting the stack of towels on a chair arm before opening one up and draping it around her shoulders. He didn't know how to tell her that he didn't trust himself - he had felt bad enough when he kissed her the first time, even if she soothed him over. They were something more than friends now, no doubt, but he knew.. he knew his mind was no good for her.

"I don't like getting wet," she half whined, half whimpered; then again, taking into account how prone she was to falling into rivers and puddles, her words were horribly ironic. Kepi seemed to realise as much, for she paused and frowned. She dismissed her thoughts soon enough though, turning to pay attention to Karan as he first dug around for some clothes and then fished some towels for her, "Well," she said as she bundled herself up in the offered towel, using it to rub at her fur, even while still dressed, "If people can change, so can cats. He's good. Just likes to be free. And he likes his girlfriends," she'd seen the tom cat bring over more than one female, though he usually seemed to favour a prim looking white feline whom looked to be too much of a pure breed to be an alley cat, "I bet they're wondering where he's been."

She kept rubbing at her fur, clothed, for a long while, however, when it became obvious she wasn't going to get anywhere by doing this, she slid her gaze over at Karan, as if expecting him to either say something, or do something. She'd have likely happily taken off her clothes, but she still remembered the first time she'd been in such a situation with him, and had learnt from it; she was waiting for him to turn around, "Uhm, Imma take this... off," she offered him as a warning before setting herself to work. As soon as she'd dis-clothed herself, she sat on the ground and began to rub her fur down with the towels he'd offered, making sure to leave the soggy, muddied clothes by the door where they wouldn't dirty up anything other than the floor. As he spoke again, her ears twitched to listen to him, her head looking up only shortly, "Why not?" she paused even as she uttered the question and cut herself short; well, obviously he wouldn't want her around ALL day long. Besides, the caravan was technically meant for one person alone (even if she WAS spending most of her time there), "Oh," she answered herself, "Uhm, this place is probably too small," having finished rubbing her fur down, she reached for the clothes he'd set aside for her and put on the shirt and then the pants, "And I'm probably a bit of a nuisance," she'd come to accept that; she couldn't help it though. Whenever she promised herself she wasn't going to land herself into trouble, she managed to do so regardless, "You can look now."

The clothes were baggy on her, but comfortable. This wasn't the first time she'd ended up wearing a set of his spare clothes anyhow; she was used to it, "I'm sorry," she mumbled, "I like it here with you better though," she was rather lonely in her caravan. Likely, it was that feeling that set her forth to find something to occupy herself with, which later derailed into trouble. Always, "I've become so used to having you around, that when you're not there, it's lonely," she looked slightly sad but soon enough perked up, "Ca I stay here tonight?" she motioned outside and lowered her ears, signaling she did NOT want to brave the rain again.

"I imagine you don't, considering you're.. kind of like a cat and all. Cats hate water." He shrugged at this, but his ears twitched a bit. It was always awkward to talk about her being cat-like, when he had glaring evidence to his own bloodline sported on his head. "I bet they are too, but he better not bring home any kittens any time soon - I am not dealing with a horde of little Owens. He is trouble enough." He grumped to himself at this, his brow furrowing at the mere thought of having a horde of kittens running around.

"I.. oh," he hesitated, eyes widening a fraction before he remembered to turn around. It took a lot more will-power than he realized, and for that, he cursed himself mentally. He could hear the sliding noise of wet clothes, the sound they made as she dropped them to the floor. His cheeks raged with a brilliant blush, knowing that all that really kept him from looking was his will power. He bit his lip at that realization, to keep himself from groaning aloud. Damn his sense of decency.

He tapped his finger against the top of his dresser as she continued speaking, making him feel worse and worse with every little word. It wasn't that he didn't want her here, or that he thought she was a nuisance (even if she was, it had long since ceased to bother him). In fact, it was more that he did want her here, too much and too often, and for all the wrong and most terrible reasons. If she only knew the thoughts he had in his head when he lay awake at night. He could suffer through her staying with him occasionally, he could control himself then, but if he had to try and resist every night? He couldn't imagine it. He chewed at his lip, his back to her for a few moments longer even as she told him he could turn around. He could feel the heat in his cheeks, he knew he was blushing, but what was worse is that he didn't know what to say to her.

"It's not because you're a nuisance, or because the caravan is small," he began slowly, clearing his throat as his voice came out softer than he intended, with a bit of a croak. He turned around slowly, hesitating, before he walked a few steps closer to her. "I don't know how to explain it to you," he whispered, letting his ears droop, his head falling a bit. What was he supposed to say to her? 'Sorry, I don't want you living with me because I'm scared I'm going to take advantage of you and enjoy every second of it'? The mere thought made his stomach squirm with half terror and half eagerness. "I just don't trust myself, Kepi." He shrugged at this and turned away, unable to really look at her. He busied himself, instead, with picking up the music sheets strewn across the floor and bed, stacking them into a neat pile.

Her words, though, made the guilty chain around his heart squeeze even tighter. "I like it better when you're here too," he admitted, almost choking on the words, his hands gripping the papers a little too tightly. He groaned lightly to himself and set them aside, on top of the dresser, before flopping himself down to sit on the edge of the bed. "Yeah, you can stay tonight, you can't.. go out in that." He mumbled it, as his head promptly buried in his hands, elbows propped on his knees. What in the hell was he going to do with himself? This was utter torture.

"I like kittens," she voiced in an absentminded sort of way, "I wouldn't mind having some around," she smoothed out the wet clothes she'd dumped in the corner, all the while entirely unaware of the double meaning behind her words. After all, she'd been talking about Owen, and yet, her words could very easily apply to her too.

Needless to say, she was also utterly unaware of Karan's struggle as he stood with his back to her. Her mind was focused on her own thoughts and thus, when she finally turned to face him, she was slightly surprised to note how awkward he looked. Almost sour, bitter, "It's not?" she asked as she perched her wet clothes on the handle of the door, as far away from any of his work as she could. Her ears twitched with curiosity, her head tilting even as she stood up, smoothing the wrinkles on the shirt he'd loaned to her, "Why don't you start at the beginning?" it wasn't a tease; she was being serious when she spoke for it wasn't in her nature to make fun of others. When he tried to explain himself however, his words only managed to confuse her even further. Trust himself? He didn't trust himself? Why not? What was he supposed to trust himself with?

The confusion was evident on her features for a full minute before she allowed herself to ask, "You don't trust yourself to do what?" it never occured to her that he didn't trust himself to not DO something to her. Then again, she'd never been all that aware of her own sex appeal (if she had any to begin with - she was used to wearing baggy pants and boyish clothes that revealed very little if nothing at all). Something told Kepi she was missing an important piece of a large puzzle, specially as she watched Karan sink on his bed with a troubled expression. She hesitated only a moment by the door, almost as if about to let go and let him sort himself out on his own... however, as much as she tried, she could not resist the pull and was by his side before she realised what she was doing. The way he spoke made it seem that he needed her by his side, whether he realised it or not.

Sitting herself beside him on the bed, she reached out to take his cheeks between her hands, forcing him to look into her eyes as she looked into his, as if hoping that by doing that she could read the storm that raged within him. After a moment had passed and she'd not succeeded, she merely pointed out the obvious, "You look troubled," her ears lowered to hide amongst the mess of the still humid, tangled locks of her hair, "Is it because of me? Do I trouble you?" Not so long ago, he'd not minded practically sharing his caravan with her, and yet lately, he'd been most keen on seeing her out of there before night fell. She never added two and two though.

Kepi might have been oblivious to the double meaning in her own words, but Karan, who was so preoccupied with chastising himself for his similar thoughts, wasn't lost upon it for a moment. He gritted his teeth for a second, shaking his head at the idea, before her muttered a rather irate sounding, "no kittens." Why he was irate was probably lost upon her, though.

"At the beginning?" he said with a rather incredulous little laugh, squeezing his eyes shut, as if that might force all the terrible thoughts to go away. "That's easier said than done, Kepi." His words were low, half muffled by his hands. As he had his eyes closed, he was rather unaware of the fact that she was walking over towards him, until he felt her weight shift the bed and her hands move up to touch his face. His eyes flashed open as she turned his head with her hands, the deep brown orbs searching and finding her own more yellow ones. How on earth was he supposed to retain his composure when she went and did things like that? Just looking into her eyes like that made the blush on his face creep back up.

"I don't trust myself to behave," he whispered softly, reaching up with his hands to clasp her wrists softly, though he didn't pull them away from his face. His eyes did, however, fall - it was harder to speak to her when he had to look her in the face. He had a lot to be ashamed of, and he couldn't give words to it if she was there staring at him, the perfect picture of innocence. "It's because of you, but it's not your fault," he shook his head lightly, then moved his hands up to cover hers. He was a glutton for punishments, he knew it. Just the touch of her fingertips sent shivers down his spine, even as worried and innocent as she was about it. "It's all me, Kepi, all me. I've been good, but I don't know if I could if you were here all the time, okay?"

He knew this was useless, that there was now way he could make her understand with such vague words alone. He wanted her to realize, though, he wanted, just for once, to not have to say his greatest shames aloud. It was a fault, an adorable fault, that she never knew exactly what anyone meant until they told her. At times like this, though, it was a hassle. It meant he would, eventually, have to confess, and he was stubborn.

And... she still wasn't adding two and two. At least not like he probably wished she was by this point. It wasn't that she was dumb, or that she knew not about the topic of the so called 'birds and bees' (it was hard to not know when one was practically raised by two older brothers). Rather, it was a lot to do that she'd never so much as thought to apply such ideals to her own self; she'd never had anyone interested in her (that she knew of), and if she ever had, her brother had probably scared the poor soul away. Thus so, Kepi had remain happily oblivious to such thoughts, even if she technically knew more than anyone probably gave her any credit for, "Well," she said even as he allowed a small, almost sour sounding chuckle escape his throat, "Why don't your try? There's a long night ahead," and something told her he didn't want to sleep, seeing as how he'd avoided doing that when she spent the night over; in fact, she'd gotten to keep the bed more often than not for he claimed to have 'work' to do.

As he explained himself further, Kepi found herself opening her maw, as if to rebuke what he was saying, but promptly snapped it shut as she noticed his haunted look. She had little idea of what he meant, at first; as far as she was concerned, despite being slightly skittish about social contact and preferring to keep to himself, Karan was one of the most polite beings she'd ever come across. When he was upset, rather than growl openly like many troupe members, he'd simply knit his brows or frown disapprovingly. He rarely cursed, and never got into fights; he was the perfect example of 'well behaved'.

Needless to say, his continued explanation wasn't shedding much more light on Kepi's thoughts; was her presence there going to make him misbehave? The notion was horribly out of question for some reason, "Uhh..." she was trying to understand, honestly she was, however, the look on her face pretty much voiced that her mind was obviously not on the same track as his was, "I think you're very polite?" she offered lamely, as if trying her best to make him feel better; her hands which were now held by his, brushed his checks in a caress, "I think you're always good. Especially to me. How would y presence change that?" she leaned in before she could catch herself, brushing the tip of her nose against his in an innocent gesture, still aiming to reassure him, never so much as suspecting she was probably making matters all the worse for him.

It wasn't like he wasn't trying, honestly, because that's all he was trying to do at the moment. He was racking his brain, over and over, for a way he could spit this out. Sadly, all he could draw up was a blank, just like he always did whenever he tried to explain something of this magnitude to her. Why on earth did she have to be so difficult? Not that it was her fault, it was just.. ugh. "I am trying," he whispered softly, gritting his teeth and letting his eyes close partially, "it's just that it's very hard to figure out how I can explain this to you."

With his eyes halfway shut, he didn't necessarily so much see her begin to lean in as feel it, and as her nose brushed against his every muscle in his body tensed up. He could feel her breath, the brush of her fur against his flesh, and every fiber in his brain was screaming at him to abandon all sense of reason and just go for it. He also knew that was the last thing he needed to do - she trusted him, there was no reason to abandon that trust now. Sure, he had kissed her, she had reciprocated it, and he knew there were no doubt feelings there. A kiss, it would probably be just what she was expecting. A kiss, however, would break his nerve. Would that be all, would he be able to stop? He'd never had to question himself like this.

"Maybe you should just try to get some sleep," his voice was hoarse, his hand curling gently around her wrists and laying them back in her lap. He pulled away, swallowing, cheeks aflame with desire and shame all at once. He looked away from her too, before standing. "I'll try and explain it in the morning, okay? I promise. Just, right now, I can't Kepi."

She did as he wished. Like she always tried to, though that didn't mean she had to like it. Somehow, the experience left her... empty, "Okay," allowing him to guide her to the bed, she reclined back and attempted sleep.

Sadly, sleep was not to come. The earlier occurrences bubbled through her mind and refused to let her rest. Even when her breathing evened out and all that could be heard was the sound of the rain outside, her mind was still at work.

----- ((Hours later, just to make FeFe's life easier)) -----

The rain had miraculously stopped. It'd been days, and yet the sound no longer reached the inside of the caravan. Kepi, whom had been unable to remain asleep for more than an hour, had climbed out of the bed, making sure not to wake up it's other occupant. She'd been roused by a small scratching sound that came from somewhere up above; the ceiling of the caravan, it seemed.

With feline grace (which she rarely seemed to display), the koshka climbed on a chair, then a table (mindful of anything on it) and opened a latch door situated on the ceiling of the caravan. Pushing herself up, she peeked through it to find not one, but two cats staring back at her. The first, black as night and dirtied by mud; Owen. The other, white with a few splashes of mud, but obviously pure bred.

Taking a look back towards the bed to make sure Karan was still sleeping, she jumped and pushed herself through the small opening, keeping the latch door open. Once outside, she sat on the ceiling her eyes looking up at the now clear night sky. The white cat, whom had remain quiet but curious, took that chance to jump onto the Koshka's lap, having figured that some free pettings were in order; needless to say, no sooner had the female jumped onto Kepi's lap, Owen joined in.

Looking up to the stars, Kepi absently stroked the cats, her tail, un best known to her, dangling down the opening she'd climbed through, twitching right and left, "What do you think, Owen?" the cat looked up from his current snuggle, but it was clear that whatever was troubling the girl, was sure as hell not troubling him, "You're useless," she told the tomcat, though there was no hint of anger. In fact, it was said rather fondly indeed. Seeing as her feeling were too hard to talk about, she did what she did best and began to sing to the night sky.

"You are always gonna be my love,
I'll remember to love,
Like you taught me how.
You are always gonna be the one.
It's still a sad song though,
until I can sing a new song.

You will always be inside my heart,
You will always have your own place.
I hope that I have a place in your heart too,
Now and forever you are still the one."

The rest was merely hummed, for tears had clouded her eyes and had made it hard to continue. Maybe, she should just tell him how SHE felt. It didn't matter what HE felt as much as him knowing how SHE felt, right?

At some point after he lead Kepi to bed, after he had come to terms with the dark beast raging inside his mind, Karan had crawled up beside her and fallen asleep despite the troubling thoughts plaguing him. In the morning he knew he had a challenge to face, but he wouldn't be able to face it unless he got a little sleep to help him clear his head. He still had no idea how he was going to tell her, because anything these subjects were hard to breech with Kepi. She was so innocent and naive, it felt wrong of him to do so.

It were those thoughts no doubt that led him to the dreams (or were they nightmares?) that were swimming around in his head. He rarely dreamed, and it left him tossing and turning uncomfortably in his bed, though he still did not wake from his slumber even as his companion withdrew from their cozy burrow. Nothing she did seemed to wake him, not until that beautiful voice rang out, clearing the haze of his mind and drawing him into consciousness quickly.

His rusty red eyes blinked hazily in the darkness of the night, adjusting until he could see. At first he was unaware of what had woken him, until he saw the slanting beam of moonlight from the open latch, and heard that song drifting down through it. With a frown of confusion on his face, and his ears pricking up in an attempt to hear her words, the pale skinned boy rolled from his bed and began to walk towards the open latch. With a groan, he realized he was going to have to climb if he wanted to get up there - not exactly his forte, no matter his heritage. He might be better than the average Mensch, but Kepi could outclimb him any day. He followed her path as best he could, first up onto the chair, then the table with uncertain legs, before he poked his head through the hole and onto the roof.

"Kepi, what are you doing up here?" He said with a frown, reaching out to cross his arms on the roof before him - he didn't exactly want to try and climb out onto it. That would take a lot of trouble, and then there was the matter of getting down and.. no, he was perfectly comfortable right here. "It's the middle of the night, and those cats are.. filthy." He huffed at the thought that she was going to have to, yet again, change clothes - and he threw a scorning look in Owen's direction. It was only when he brought his eyes back up to her face that he noticed the glimmering tears pooled in her own, highlighted by the moon shining overhead.

He was such a git sometimes.

"Kepi, what's wrong?" he said quietly, lowering his ears even as he spoke, because he knew, instinctually, that it was all his fault.

She startled.

So much so that she nearly fell over the side of the caravan as he voice floated over the previously silent night air. She'd been so fixated on her song and the two cats on her lap that she hadn't really heard the noise within the caravan; some koshka SHE was, getting walked in on so easily! Despite everything though, she avoided falling off the caravan and escaped the situation without a scratch, unless the small bruising of her ego counted, "I heard Owen return and... I couldn't sleep," she held up the white cat, which had miraculously remain in her lap throughout the ordeal, and tried (tried being the keyword here) to rub away the tears before he noticed them with a free hand, "He has a girlfriend, see?" her eyes looked down at the cats and she snorted, "They're kind of mismatched though," black and white, pure breed and alley cat. At the end of the day, it was mildly amusing.

When he spoke again, it soon enough became obvious to Kepi that she needed a lesson or two in stealth because not only had he seen the tears but he was worried. Well, crap.

"It's fine, I just got a little bit too into the song," a pause, "The mud was dry, don't worry," that said, she let go of both cats and set them on the rooftop; she was smart enough to know that not only was she not fooling him, but that she... had to talk to him. Doing that on the rooftop didn't seem precisely the way to do it, "Take your girlfriend home, I think her owner might be worried," she stroked the cats one last time and scooted back towards the opening, waiting for Karan to make room for her so she could hop back inside, which she did as soon as she could.

Once inside, she paused and grabbed her tail in her hands, as if playing with it somehow helped calm her down, "Uhm, I've been thinking," which was probably not the best opening for whatever she was going to tell him; Kepi and thinking usually didn't end up well. She looked up at him as she tried to continue, "I'm always asking you things, and trying to figure you out and I just realised that maybe you're trying to do the same with me but you don't know how to ask," in one of her few lucid moments she let out a sigh and released her tail, "Do you know how I feel, Karan? Do you want to know how I feel? What I'm thinking?"

Karan groaned inwardly at the 'girlfriend' that Owen had brought home - in all reality, that was the last thing he needed. Some high class b*****d coming around and accusing his irresponsible little tomcat of knocking up precious little fluffy. He had no doubt that cat was probably worth more than the caravan that he was currently living in. A few mixed-blood kittens would get any owner in a fuss, and with Karan's luck, he'd be stuck taking care of the little brats. Again, he left a scowling look for Owen, then turned his attention back to the important matter at hand - Kepi.

"The song?" he asked in disbelief as she moved over to jump back down the open latch. He shifted to scuttle down from the table in a hurry - stubbing his foot on the chair as he shuffled down so quickly and cursing quietly under his breath as he rubbed at it while hopping on the other. Quite comical, if it weren't for the rather.. heavy atmosphere at hand. Turning as he heard Kepi re-enter the caravan, he was prepared to have their 'morning talk' a few hours early.

"Kepi," he began, just as she started to speak, and he a look of surprise flashed across his face in the dark of the night-shadowed room. Surprise soon gave way to his trademark frown however, and he lowered himself down into the previously offending chair as he tried to sort out his thoughts. "No," he said, then quickly backtracked as he realized how wrong that simple word could be misinterpreted, "I mean, No I don't know how you feel. Of course I want to know." He sighed and shut his eyes, reaching up to run a hand through the back of his hair, at the base of his neck, disheveling already disheveled hair. "I just don't like to push you, that's all, I want you to go at.. your own pace."

The trouble was, with Kepi, he didn't know what that pace was - she was as unpredictable as a summer storm.

"No?" Kepi blinked, and her ears dropped instantly at the word, looking for all she worth like someone had died. She opened her mouth to say something but words didn't come soon enough, for he continued talking before she could reorganise her thoughts. As he finished talking, she let out a sigh she hadn't really even noticed she was holding in, her ears perking up again with relief.

Somehow, she felt like the hard part (or... part of the hard part anyhow) was over, "Okay," she started, then seemed to lose her train of thought (or quite possibly hadn't really paused to think this far ahead, as she was more prone to acting out of the heat of the moment), "Okay," it was repeated again before she imitated him, running a hand through her hair, now dry and still free of their usual pig tails. Then, the koshka hesitated no longer; she dropped her hand from where she was making a horrible mess of her hair and padded forward till she was crouching down on the floor beside the chair. Somehow, looking up at him while see talked seemed like a better idea, "Where do I start?" the words were mumbled under her breath, and the answer she'd given him early resounded in her mind.

Start at the beginning, of course.

Kepi swiftly decided that had been the stupidest piece of advice she'd ever given someone and suddenly kind of regretted having used the phrase to start with, "I don't know what to do," she finally confessed, "I've never been the brightest star in the heavens," she lifted her hand, as if to hush him in case he wished to deny that fact, "And it's fine - I usually notice things others don't, but logic and common sense... I'm not very good at that. I usually get myself into trouble, and I drag you along for the ride," lifting her hands, she seeked his out and rested them on his lap, "Sometimes I need a small push in the right direction. I don't break."

That wasn't really... starting at the beginning, but it was a start nonetheless, "I was thinking that... when I left my home and came here, I had nothing to lose; people come and go. It's the way this sort of place works. People come, people stay and people leave in the end. I was fine with that; I could leave too, any time I wanted. I could always go back home if I wanted to, but now..." she stopped squeezing his hand and looked up at him, "I feel like I have something to lose. Not because of them, but because of you. The world could end, and I wouldn't really miss any of it," another pause, "Except you. I would mourn it, but it's not the same."

She wasn't entirely sure when it'd started, or how it would end, but somehow along the way he had become the most important thing in the world for her, and while she had no name for it... she wanted him to know.
