It had been a long day of traveling with his suddenly larger family-of-sorts, and Bombei was glad to stop for the night. In the distance he could see the two cubs playing, pouncing and rolling in the long grass. One, his daughter, seemed to have the upper hand for the moment. The other, his apprentice, was putting up a good fight on the other paw, swatting fiercely. Ah to be young. Never mind that neither of them were of his blood, or even of his specie.

To his other side a mixed herd wandered in the fading light, the hooting of zebras mingling with other noises of gazelles and antelope. The odd giraffe broke the line of the horizon, a rather fetching sight. A yawn escaped the mist-colored lion, teeth flashing in the last rays of the sun. Maybe a quick nap...
