Dainty hooves danced over the ground, barely disturbing the leaf-litter as the mare pranced along. Slim legs stepping high with joy, tail flagged behind her like a sapphire banner. Slim ears pricked forwards, amber eyes that so closely resembled the moon high above, set in velvet blackness, scanned the trees in front, seeking the shadow of the stallion that was the cause of her excitement. Just ahead, in the small clearing surrounded by majestic oaks and the delicate fronds of weeping willows.. a certain someone was due to meet her.
Slipping past the screen of velvet leaves, the mare paused, elegant head throw high, body tight with excitement. Yet the clearing was empty. Chuckling softly to herself she passed through the weeping willow branches and strode forwards, letting the silvery moonlight bathe her ocean and sunset hued body. Everything was so different now.. the bird calls were more beautiful than she could ever remember, the moonlight brighter and of such a perfect silver.. The ocean, her beloved ocean, each wave seemed to be expressing her joy, throwing glittering foam into the air like confetti.
The young mare, sleek of body and straight of limb, was in the prime of her life. Golden eyes lit with joy and youth, spirit pure and soaring with the birds. There, in the small secret clearing among the gilded willow trees, she waited for the one who had shown her this joyous new world.

[Posting for Kijani, rp conducted in AIM] It was a challenge enough having to escape two pairs of curious eyes that often kept check on the rather massive, smoldering beast but, thankfully, it would seem that both Raiju and Kidono were slumbering deeply. Duzi could only assume that their previous outing with the ice demon had certainly taken a toll on their strength but, hell, it was worth it! Helping to find some leverance against the gods for what they had done to them seemed to quench some of their collective thrist- revenge was needed yet, truthfully, it was deeper than revenge; they sought to see if the gods would feel what they had felt all along. Betrayal. Though as his mind deviated from the consumption of his anger, the large creature seemed to slowly make his way toward the spot of which he assured a certain someone he would appear at moonlight. Granted that Duzi was still uncertain of what to make of these 'feelings', he would keep his promise. This meeting between mare and stallion was something which he was not accustom to- something that was so far from his typical character yet, secretly, there was something about it or something about her. Duzi chuckled deeply, ruffling his wings as his eerie, blue orbs narrowed from behind his skull mask. Perhaps she was mistaken on what he really was, he thought. It would seem that the whole world either wanted to sanctify what was left of him or tear him limb from limb. Although either choices were appealing, the stallion seemed to walk a line between both while a shadowed mind continued to lay waste to what was left of a broken soul. Traversing with only filtered moonlight guiding the way, Duzi bared his teeth slightly while the pain of severed gashes across his legs seemed to flare. Damnit. Of course that would happen now, the stallion seethed to himself. Smokey remnants seemed to depart away from him as he continued, approaching towards the clearing while the shrill sound of clinking chains seemed to alarm any surrounding creature that something was coming. His eyes scanned about, searching for her as he stood within the shadows waiting.

For a short while she knew she was alone. Having grown up far from her parent's home and travailed at a very young age the slender mare had developed a keen sence of her suroundings, more so perhapse than most. She was no warrior, and certainly no preditor yet nor was she helpless. Being at a distance to the family she had always been urounded by, it should have made the young female twitchy at the very least. Yet as slender ears twitched gently, amber gaze following the path of a shimmering butterfly lit up by the moon's glow like some kind of spirit, she was calm and at ease. Content to explore the tiny space they had claimed for their meeting while she waited. Snorting softly as the butterfly shot up over her head and away, she turned gracefully, slim head dipping to nose at the mosses and grass that formed a thick carpet under her hooves. The cool moonlight drifted over her ocean-hued back, silvering her figure and lending a soft halo of light as if she herself was of the moon, a spirit come down to visit the mortal relm for a short time. Hakumei was oblivious to the effect, enjoying the warmth of the fragile light as she relaxed. Ears flickering slowly, knowing that sooner or later she would catch the sounds of his approch. And indeed, no great time had passed before he clink of chains called her attention. Head lifting, silken mane a rich cascade along her graceful neck. Turning, golden eyes gazing in the direction where the stallion had hidden himself, she paced forward a stride. Tail up and flicking at her flank curiously. Tilting her head she took another pace, then suddenly a silken nicker escaped as she trotted over, slipping between the branches smoothly to reach his side. "You came.." Soft voice murmured, suddenly a little shy as she gazed up at the tall male. Ahhh first love, a many splendered thing. Though it had the habit of turning silver-tongues into stammering idiots and the brave into a wilting mess. For Kumei, the mare of the sunset seas, daughter of the ocean and the sky, the blooming emotion within her warmed her cheeks with a soft blush, calming her boundless energies and though she was unaware of it, it cast aside the last clinging habits of foalhood to reveal the graceful mare she was becoming.

Somewhat uncertain, the male only looked at her silently for several moments. This whole situation this- this, hell, whatever it was seemed to not only be perplexing but somewhat aggrevating. Duzi had never been subject to such a thing, love, like the star struken mare and already he was trying to decide just what to do. He did have feeling for her but the walls built up around him so vigilantly and voraciously from the past seemed to keep him at bay- it was unlikely that he would soften so quickly or to a degree which anyone would find 'suitable' but, in this case, only time would tell, wouldn't it? Duzi's ears flicked slightly, teeth grinding slightly from behind his lips as he snorted. "I don't break my promises," he nearly muttered, snorting as his thick leonine tail swayed behind him. Yes, coarse and unrefined. The stallion, again, had no idea what this was all about or what love entailed although it seemed that he was destined to find out sooner or later. Yet again, silence abounded. THe stallion stood there as his eyes simply stared at her before he began to walk past her. Certainly this seemed defeating his purpose of coming but at the same time it seemed that something else was on his mind. What exactly? No one could be sure. Roguish and somewhat socially awkward as well as rather defensive, Duzi furled his wings to his side as the far off glistening river seemed to silently lure him. Oh, but where were his manners. Halfway approaching, he found them. "I'm... gonna get a drink," he called out gruffly, slightly limping while colorful language seemed to seep from out of his breath although softly- he wouldn't want to offend his lady friend would he? The large beast simply stopped as he reached the banks of the river, helplessly and angrily staring into what the water reflected. As the late night rendevouz was already becoming a disaster it would seem that the unbridled thoughts left to rampage within Duzi's mind were already harrowing up the walls around him once again. That anger- no, those pains rooted deep within him seemed to seek solitude. But he was always alone; left to make sense of whatever was left in his life. That cold, coarse nature seemed to consume him for the moment as his eyes stared at the figure he still did not know. What was he becoming?

Kumei smiled softly, relaxing once more. Despite her own emotional flip-flopping Duzi was the same as always. His short, gruff reply was answered with an easy, warm smile. "I know.. I never doubted you would." Ears flickered as he stared at her, rather than becoming self-consious Kumei waited with curiosity. Once the large male stepped past her she tilted her head, turning neetly and following along side him, her diminuituve frame dwarfed by the large winged body though she didn't seem afraid or even nervous. Pacing along to keep up with his long strides. Nodding at his sudden comment she looked forwards to where the river glistened in the moonlight. The muttered curses caught by slender ears, causing the young mare to grin. Her parents had been oh so careful to raise her as a proper young lady, yet her own wanderings had taught her some of the bolder sides of life. She was not the delicate young thing others oft mistook her for. Suddenly amber gaze flicked down, attached by the uneven gait of her companion. "Are you wounded?" She asked softly, concern for the male filling her soft voice.

It was strange to think that he had forgotten what he once looked like, Duzi had forgotten what his true looks were underneath this smoldering, smokey appearance. Although the change wasn't too dramatic if only altering a white coat and a more tangible, wholesome appearance it seemed somewhat strange to think that this was who he was now. Clattered with chains and gauged with wounds on his legs, this whas who he was now; a monster. With his new form he had acquired the right mindset and personality which had molded so well to what the gods accused him of being. Granted that his appearance was fiend-ish and intimidating it was that inside of him was so vastly different; he was lost inside, pained and tormented which he would never allow to escape and penetrate through the surface. Perhaps it was a cliche that inside he was harrowed up and kept a cold, defensive, if not agressive, exterior to any audience that gathered away from him but it was that pain that kept him on edge. It drove him to do whatever it would take to lift off the goddamn affliction but such a thing to happen was farfetched. And so here he was, a fallen casualty left only to look upon the creature, the demon, he had become all for trying to save one of his own. Duzi's right hoof pawed at the ground, eyes closing from behind the mask he wore as he could feel his jowls clench fiercely together. There was a part of him that simply wanted to yell, to scream and curse the damn dieties for what they had done but was it worth it? If anything he would only let them be witness to a response they most likely were hoping for. A wreath of mist emitted from out of his nostrils as he exhaled. What he would give to be free of it all. At the poised question of which he barely seemed to catch while solitude had left him isolated, Duzi glanced back towards the mare. "The pain comes and goes but the wounds will not heal," he replied, tone thrumming low with an ever present edge. "A parting gift from the Gods." Looking away, the mutant chuckled. "Strange that those below have such a devout passion to worship the deity they hardly know, isn't it?"

The long silence, unbroken except from the few forest creatures that remained close by, closed round the pair. So long that Kumei wondered if the other was completely lost to what ever thoughts put such a look of pain on his gruff features. One slender leg stepped forwards, ears pricked and head lowered slightly as she sought to draw closer to him. Something about him... the very same something that had drawn her all that time ago in the cave, called to her again. There was a deep need in him, for what she wasn't sure nor did she even fullt understand what she felt in the waves of silence. But whatever it was pulled her, drew her one small step at a time to his side. The sudden reply when she had forgotten her question, startled her from the almost spell-like state he had cast over her. Golden moon-like gaze dropped to his forleg, head following as she tenderly wuffled warm breath over the strong limb. "The gods?" She asked softly, lifting her head to look up at him. He had yet to speak to her about this and she hoped this time, he would. "I confess.... I do not know of these gods. Though I follow the sun's path just before it dies each evening, and the ocean and the stars fasinate me." She shook her head slightly. "But I think that is somewhat different to what you mean..." Gently she stepped forwards, moving to stand next to the stallion, close enough that a deep breath would have made their flanks touch. Lowering her head she dipped her muzzle into the cold water, watching as ripples disturbed the silvered surface. After a moment she lifted her head again, glancing up at the masked expression. Gently, she brushed her shoulder against his dark coat, seeking to ease the pain held captive within his unusual gaze.
