I'm trying really hard to see how one can be attracted to both sexes at the same time, but the whole concept confuses me.
I suppose one could argue that it's no different than being gay, but I find it seems impossible to be attracted to both sexes at once (obviously it is not, otherwise it wouldn't be happening so very often xd )
Could someone please offer some insight of somekind so that I can understand my semi-queer peers better?

Not sure... But here is my best guess...
Think in food terms.
Some people like hamburger.
Some people like hot dogs.
Then there are the people who like both.
sweatdrop I personally LOVE the hot dog!

sweatdrop I personally LOVE the hot dog! I never thought of it that way... Then again moral and ideological conflicts between hamburger enthusiasts and lovers of the hot dog probably don't happen very often. It would be amusing to watch. Let the condiment packets fly!

For me (a pansexual) it's the opposite. It's hard for me to wrap my mind around people discriminating sexual/relationship partners according to their gender. I understand preferences, but totally ruling out someone according to their gender is just confusing to me. But there's also the psychology perspective. Maybe there is a learned aversion to the certain genders, just like there are aversions to having sex in general... Perhaps it is something biological...
*shrugs* I'm not really sure, but all I know is that I have been attracted to many different kinds of people, boys, girls, men, women, and genderqueers. I have my preferences at times (those change all the time), but for the most part I just like people for their personalities. The way they look matters to me, but as far as what their sex or gender is... I really don't care.
Sorry that's more about... me than about bisexuals.

I think bisexuals fit pretty squarely between you and those damned gender discriminators.

It isn't that hard to understand. You like only men because that is what attracts you. Well, bisexuals are attracted to both men and women. It has to do with some kind of psycho-mind-thingy that I really only know a tiny bit about. But from the more simplistic stuff I've read, basically it comes down to what I said before, attraction. Now I don't even remember where I read that... sweatdrop

Well, there are different features (physical AND psycological) in men than in women that some people just aren't attracted too and vis-versa. I am attracted to the certain features that men have.

JoVo I think bisexuals fit pretty squarely between you and those damned gender discriminators. We're not damned, we just plain don't see it. So in conclusion, we're just blind.

Well, think of it this way then. Instead of being attracted to a gender, you are attracted to the race/species. rather than liking men, or women, bisexuals like humans. They see they beauty of both forms in humanity, male and female. Or else, they are just overly horney...

Montigo Dominic Or else, they are just overly horney... I hate how so many people think of bisexuals as being overly horny. (Not that you do, I'm pretty sure you were joking!) When my mother came out as a lesbian I asked if perhaps she was bisexual and she asked me, "well, isn't that just about sex?" or something along those lines. I'm not a pansexual because I want to have sex all the time, or because I want to have more options when it comes to getting laid. *sigh*

i agree with montigo. i like people. if your personality and basic sdtructure attracts me, i don't mind if your male or female. just because there are some promiscus (someone spell that for me?) peoplse out there, it doesn't mean we all are. i woiuldn't hook up with a girl i couldn't have a good conversation with, just as i wouldn't if it were a guy. and now i think i'm repeating myself.
it's too cold to think sweatdrop

I too am with Montigo on the theory of bisexuality. Its not a question of liking both male and female but liking a person for who they are and not for what dwells underneath their clothing. Thats how I used to see it anyways so experience helps understanding things a little more...
