Bakura sat in the middle of the forest to, for a lack of a better word, hide. The demonic female had been on his case again, and this time she seemed different. Before it was anger and a look that would haunt Bakura in his nightmares, but now...now it was more of a sly smile and even the threat of violence.

He shuddered, not wanting to think of it. Why did she hate him so? He didn't do anything wrong...or did he? Sometimes Bakura wondered...his social encounters weren't terribly successful, and most found company with those more out-going to be preferable. The only female who seemed to have a real concern for his well-being was Fiala. Yet Bakura didn't want to concern her all the time, so he tended to avoid her. Out of sight, out of mind, after all.

If only that were true for her.

The trees quaked and the ground ached
The winter breeze on the trees awaked
Alone in one corner of forest did glide
A Namir who's desire to hide did confide
In the trees, in the pond, in the sway of the breeze
She searched for a place where her goo wouldn't freeze
Her ghostly appearance did nothing but swell
The chill to the air on the leaves as they fell
All this around her but one thing unchanged
The firm press to her lips against nothing could break
The hint in her eyes that suggested derranged
She never wavered nor wandered though the world she did shake.

Bakura sensed a namir approaching and tensed up. Was it...her? He shuddered with the very idea that she had followed him all the way out here. He looked around apprehensively, jumping at nearly every shadow that appeared to move as he tried to stay in the light. Oh, how he loathed the darkness, for no better reason than that it allowed for the easy concealment of his nightmare. His mind played tricks on him within the darkness, forming figures where there were none and creating familiar and frightning shapes out of that which was harmless. Futile were his desires to remain ever in light, for darkness lay everywhere the eye can see.

A hush fell around her as the air dampened dark
The shadows befelling her white coat made it stark
Her luminescence did help for the shadows to flee
A small little Namir she found amist dark debris
His coat shook in fear and his were bright wide
Searching and seeking a good place for to hide
Nyandrah moved closer, her form light in the air
Wondering what shadow could cause such despair.

From the corner of his eye Bakura noticed a bright, shining light, and he turned to look at it. He smiled, and instantly relaxed at the sight of an acquaintance. He didn't know her well (or at least not at the moment), yet she wasn't her, and that was good enough. "Oh, hello." He marveled at the light radiating from her, frightening away the darkness and bringing forth the light. He wished in passing that he could have this ability, yet knew that such a thing would reveal himself further to her, destroying what little camoflauge he had.

"Greetings and salutations on a day such as this
I noticed in coming that you deem something amis?"
His gaze was on her and the shadows she chased
Which gave her pause in thoughts she used haste
If nothing was wrong and just cold wrought the air
Then what was the cause for the earlier scare?

"Well, when I noticed someone coming I thought you were...somebody else," Bakura sheepishly admitted. Her manner of speech always intrigued him, not only in rhyme but the word choice. Her vocabulary was remarkably high, and the way she could formulate such artistic sentences which conveyed her meaning so quickly and flawlessly left Bakura in silent awe. He was certain he could not imitate her style, and if he tried it would not be nearly as perfect nor would it be delivered so swiftly, as if without a need for thought or composure. He feared complimenting her on this talent of hers, for he had already skated on thin ice with his comments on her intriguing appearance.

Nyandrah could not hide the look of surprise
It cloaked her entirely, especially her eyes
"You expected another and found me instead
And the other's appearance induces more dread?"
The matter confused her of that she was sure
But pleasure she found in it, grinning azure
Azure could be blush for a ghost in her state
One who holds longing and not fear or hate
The cold in the air reaches down to the soul
So feelings of warmth for a ghost are quite cool
She paused in her thought and her mouth opened wide
It occured to her late not to find joy in such a confide
"For my actions I apologize in a vastly amount
My meaning was shallow on that you can count
It is not often that I receive word of my being
As less than something which needs to be fleeing."

Bakura marvelled again at her manner of speech as he nodded timidly in response to her first question. He then commented on the second part of her dialogue, "I don't find you scary...not in the least. You seem to be nice." Nice, unlike the one who finds pleasure in his torment and more so in his pain (or so he would assume). She may be a ghost, yet to him that was nothing compared to the demonic, whose heart was surely blackened by some event in the darkened past.

She blinked her wide eyes and nodded profusely
If Bak here was wrong then he was obtusely
Nice could she be, yeah, at times maybe yes
But not when she hunted her usual quest
"Nice I may be for when you do know me
But know that is not how forever I'll be
A past that I have but cannot remember
A new Namir when found may be I to render."

Bakura tilted his head, confused not by her words but by the message they conveyed. Her logic seemed a bit faulty on one thing, or perhaps only so by what he believed. Shyly, without any desire to offend her, he said, "You may change a little when you remember your past...but...you are still you...with or without a past. What makes you who you are...it's not just your past. It's also your present...and even future. You may change...you may change a lot...but some things won't change...because they are part of who you are..."

"Who I am is unclear and hidden in darkness
My name the remainder that dear do I hold
Of nothing I'm certain, not even my niceness
My past is in shadow, my future untold
What is there of present that holds me here now?
For all that could be, I mayhaps been a Drow"
Her face lost all sadness, all cheer, and all joy
And there quiet she sat, as if mistaken some toy
To be put in her place and to not form new thought
Until her remembrance to her had been brought.

Bakura saddened a bit. He didn't mean to make her feel bad. Guilt stabbed into him, creating new wounds the the many already present. He felt oddly hurt, not necessarily by her but from himself, and the pain was near unbearable. Still, he felt no inclenation to flee, choosing instead to try to heal the wounds he had inflicted upon this acquaintance of his accidentily, "I...I'm sorry. I didn't mean...to offend you. I...I hope...no...I know that someday...someday you'll find yourself and your past...and I hope sincerily...that it's a good one..."

"Of offense you have wrought
Worry none, this is be naught
Merely reminding of times I have lost
And to gain back what must be the cost"
She tried resolution to remain unattached
Memories and Namrah, connections still hatched
A pain filled her heart to see faces so sad
Something for under his law would be glad
But to her it must mean nothing, nothing at all
For her former self and her mind she stands tall
Though nothing can silence the cry of the heart
It's of no avail if the ears and the heart wear apart.

Bakura cheered up some upon learning that the change in her demeanor was not induced by him, or at least not completely. He silently wished her luck in her quest for her past, a wish he placed above all his other wishes. Yet what if such a wish would bring pain and sadness to her? That would be a heavy burden to wear upon his heart, perhaps too heavy to bear (though he'd have no choice). While in thought, something came to mind. Her name he either did not know or escaped from his knowledge. Hoping it was the former, he timidly asked, "Um...what is your name?"

(I don't think he knows her name yet...unless I'm mistaken. She knows his name, but I don't think she gave hers yet. I could be mistaken though, in which case I apologize for being absentminded. sweatdrop )
