All the American Steampunk events seem to be in California. So I was just wondering; is there anything for us east coast Steampunks?
If there isn't we should all plan to invade some sort of con in a semi-centralized location and get some eastern Steampunk awareness started!
I googled it and found that something had already passed in NYC. does anyone know if it is annual or a one time event?

I actually spent the weekend at a Steampunk convention here in Williamsburg VA. Not a bad one, either...

Awesome! I missed that one in my search. I must sreach more carefully next time.
I see that Metrocon in Tampa FL is going to be steampunk themed. A little while after posting this thread I attended a steampunk night at a local club. It seems that this is more widely spread than I had afore realized.

Depressing, isn't it? While I appreciate the growing numbers of the like-minded, I must agree with a man I met at the con: "When I can buy such a waistcoat at Target, I fear the genre is loosing it's originality." Tampa? Oh, for the ability to teleport...

I feel so left out. I can't seem to find anything in North Carolina save for one workshop at an anime convention.

The Clockwork Ball is a local, bi-monthly dance hosted by a local radio show in Chapel Hill/Carrboro North Carolina. The next one is this Valentine's Day. I went to one on New Year's, and it was REALLY fun!

Well, there's a livejournal community called NY Steam, dedicated to Steampunk in the New York area, mostly in the five boroughs.
Anyway, eh, about Metrocon--In '08, I went with a friend in Steampunk (she went one day in it because I pleaded with her) and we bumped into a friend I knew from Gaia who was wearing Steampunk. I find it funny how, last year, there was less than five people, and all of the sudden, the convention is themed after it. It's a little depressing, but I'm good as long as the new guys aren't stuck up (it happened to EGL, so I'm hoping a different fate for SP).
I'm a New Yorker, but currently, I'm rooted in Florida.

pirate It really is sad that we don't have much on this coast. I'm in FL for the moment but am moving back to MA in a couple months. Hopefully I can find something good there. If not maybe I'll just start something...

Things like this tend to be super-hidden in New Jersey, so we just kinda migrate over to NY for such events. I wasn't paying attention to it so maybe I should be on the lookout more often ninja
