Adriana waited patiently on the front stoop for her uncle Sekenre to arrive. He was going to take her on a field trip today for her studies. The man was an odd one, not only because of all the strange magics he performed, but primarily because she could never read him. Adriana was completely incapable of collecting either his surface thoughts or any indication that there was anything inside his head. As much as it would have amused her to imply that he had no brain, she knew better. He was somehow blocked from her prying.
Mutely tapping her drumsticks on her knees, she brooded over her lack of ability. But then, that's why she was training under the sorcerer. Her mother had insisted that she be formally trained and her old friend Sekenre was the perfect man for the job. Even her dad had agreed.

"You look Lost Child." The words formed in her head; not heard but felt.

It was a voice she knew she'd heard before. Addy spun around to look behind her. There was, of course, no one there.
To talk to her like only her sister ever had... she never remembered Uncle Sekenre doing that before. He was full of surprises... and frankly, because of her nature, she was unaccustomed to surprises.
Frowning, she crossed her arms defiantly. "Well?" She wasn't about to look like she'd fall for his little trick (even if she already had). "You coming out yet? Nobody'll freak. Promise."
While she was at school, with all the ridiculous events happening lately, Addy had come to the conclusion that she, her sister and their new friends were not a rare occurrence here. She guessed that just about every student at this school possessed some level of power and the fact that more than half of everyone here had a twin couldn't be a coincidence.

Her sister was acting strange again. Liliana giggled. "Who you talking to?" She was just leaving the school, having had to stay later than her sister to help tutor a friend in biology. They were studying the anatomy of a plant, one of Lilly's best subjects and she was more than happy to help.
It wasn't the first time she'd seen her sister talking to herself, but it had been quite a while since it was a regular occurrence. And those times there had been someone else there who she had thought was talking to her. This time there was no one nearby.

"Uncle Sekenre," was all she bothered to answer.

"Well my dear, you figured that out faster than I expected. You show some promise." This time his words were audible as he materialized behind her. "Before you go and say that I 'look like hell' let me have you know that I just came from there...and then your mother chewed me out for going there alone..." He let out a sigh. "Well perhaps I should compose myself into something more suitable."
There was a sizzling sensation in the air and he was then engulfed in a blue flame. When it subsided, his appearance was completely different.

Addy was immediately more interested in her mother's choice of mentor after this odd appearance and his mentioning hell. But she had her own integrity to protect first. "As for figuring it out, I am a psychic and I've heard your Voice before. Plus it's not that difficult to figure out that someone as powerful as you would insist on making a dramatic appearance." She grinned smugly.
"But ignoring all that," she waved her hand in front of her face, as thought it were an eraser to clear her mind. "You went to hell?"

"Oh dear!" Liliana jumped when someone materialized between her and her twin. She took a close look at the man, and failing to identify him, wondered if she might not make an inquiry. However before she mustered up enough courage to do so, he proceeded to 'clean himself up' in a small burst of flame.
Standing there afterward was a man she recognized, if only from photos and possibly from a time before her memory was accessible. "Uncle Sekenre?"

"Yes I know you're a smart one; as are you." With the last statement, he looked at Liliana. To Liliana he said, " Alas, you are not mine to train; I'm Sorry. Though, if you're mother is open to the idea, I have the perfect person in mind." His eyes glistened just a bit with the last statement.
"Now, can I at least get a hug before you go and tear into me like your mother?"

Lilly laughed and dashed over to give her uncle a big hug, wrapping one arm around her sister to draw her into the embrace too.
"We couldn't scold you," she reassured him.

Adriana reluctantly accepted the embrace from the two and rolled her eyes. I'll just have to remember it when I need blackmale, she thought to herself, forgetting that Sekenre was a psychic too.
"Mom said she was having trouble finding someone to tutor Lilly," Addy informed him when she was allowed out of the group hug.

Lilly nodded. "She probably would have asked you, if your powers weren't so different from mine. But I might still want to learn calligraphy from you. And maybe cooking?" She added sheepishly. "Mommy's good at cooking and all, but that's cause she learned it all from you, right?"

Kiss up. Adriana's mental accusation was directed at her twin, allowing her to hear it quite clearly.

"I just showed her some tricks, your mother's cooking is her own. Now, calligraphy and cooking, I'll be more than happy to show you, as for the other, I have a friend in mind, but of course I'd have to talk to your mother."
Sekenre scanned the area, saw that not many others were around and leaned in towards the girls and whispered, "How about we leave here and I'll take us to your mother's house in style? Would you two like that?" He grinned knowing what the girls' reaction would be.

"Oh dear," Lilly fidgeted a moment. It's not dangerous is it? She knew that there were many different forms of transportation available to those who traveled dimensions. The girls had never been told whether they were allowed to travel that way or not. She assumed that since her mother trusted Uncle Sekenre that it would be safe, but she also knew that Japi did not always approve of the risks her friend took.
Still she was really curious to see what it might entail. She nodded. "As long as it's safe."
