he prolly remembers the attack on kalms castle, so if cora and kalm meet him somewhere in the story, what will he do?

from what I read is that kefka is all about getting stronger and gaining more power, and hates everything and enjoys death of innocent people
he is after espers for their magicite
I'm not really sure how magicite works, but can it be taken from a person that took it from an esper? maybe cora somehow got magicite from last remains of an esper and kefka is after it? and that's how she got split in half?
and maybe kalm has magicte too, and kefka is after them to finish the job? (he wanted kalm too)
but I dunno how they got the magicite, maybe they were friends with espers and they got magicite as a gift or something
or espers died for them and the espers wanted them to carry on their magicite
but maybe it's a bit messy to include this stuff

Yeah, I think you're right. I'm personally scared of butchering the FF6 lore too much. I think we should keep the FF6 stuff a bit toned down and play more with our original ideas instead. Remember how all the FF characters are mixed up in the games, in their own worlds, with different origins? Well, I figure maybe Kefka can be like that.
This was we can have more control over the plot.
One thing that can be useful to us though was that he was a court mage... so maybe any attempt to do with magic can come directly from Kefka.
I had maybe a scenario in mind:
Maybe Kefka was going to be appointed some high ranking position in the royal court but was denied this position because of Kalm (cause of some reason we can think of...) so Kefka cracks and decides to make a deal with some other dark figures (the Disney villains) and he is sent Heartless into thee world to reign destruction.
(what the deal is... who knows. But it might be cool to include some disney figured too.)
Since Kefka turns is such an emotional psycho and Kalm is the very definition of his name... I can see them not getting along. At the very least, Maybe Kefka can have some sort of resentment towards him... or maybe just can't stand him. lol
In an attempt to kill the prince (maybe even for fun) he sends a heartless to capture the princes heart. Cora (and this is her job after all) tries to protect Kalm but as the heartless was stealing her heart, Kefka sends a spell and this might trigger a portal... and they then fall into Traverse town.
When our heroes eventually make it back home, Kefka has taken control of the place and it's up to them to stop him and restore Cora to her old self. smile

maybe kefka trained kalm in magic, so he hates it if his "student" gets the job just because he is a prince
maybe something like leader of the army or something I dunno
he can go to the mother of snowwhite for help (or just malificent)
maybe he looses his sanity there? he attacks the castle to become king
he wants to keep kalm so kalm will always know what he lost
but he doesn't care about cora and let the heartless take care of her
kalm is like: "now it's my turn to save her"
he cuts his way to cora and throws all the hartless off her, she is uncosious and he is surrounded by heartless
kefka can come and says something (villains like to procrasinate razz )
and they both throw some magic spell and they clash, making a portal they fall through
so would their final boss be kefka as a god, the people left in the world could have worshipped himout of fear, but maybe that is too much like ff6 too

Maybe in exchange for the heartless army, Kefka could give something up... How about the little bit of his heart that is left... then he completely succumbs to darkness. When that happens, he goes totally crazy! We could make him a cool outfit similar (but more toned down) to his original outfit but when he comes to attack the palace, he's in his crazy clown outfit. That sounds cool! Maybe the people don't really worship him, but they might just fear him, and with heartless and magic at his command, the people have no choice but to follow him. Also (as an idea) maybe Shiro can feel some of his influence (since he controls heartless) and that might lead to some interesting plot points.

I've been re-working the skin for Kalm... I'm not sure which I like more... and I'm still open to change for the hair... but what do you like more in terms of skin? (I still have a few shadows left to do)

I don't see much difference in the skin sweatdrop (I think it is because my laptop is very bright)
didn't he have brown hair? (black is great too though)

I' playing with tons of different colors. A friend of mine told me to make him maroon... someone else told me dark brown... and now blue hair has popped in my head too! D: But the dark brown reminds people of Squall (is what I got from that) and some really like the black while others really hate it. >_>

I really like black, there are not much ff or kh characters with black hair, now I think about it, right?
I always really like drawing black hair, it doesn't need shading to look cool biggrin (and it looks awesome in black and white, I love black and white pics)
