Long legs strode smoothly over flattened grass, snow laying in uneven patches that matches the patterning of the soquili's fur under his coat. Weak sunbeams flashed and glinted off the golden mask and gold-silk thread that decorated the tall figure. Casting him in shades of gold, black and white.
Pausing, the male lifted his head, pale cream curls drifting over his neck as he glanced to one side. This was a new area for him and its details were unlike the rest of the surrounding landscape. It appeared to be a low valley as the sides curved up like some giant bowl, and above, where the rim of the edge cut into the pale blue sky, thick trees weighted with heavy loads of snow stood like silent guardians. The forest he had passed through to get here was knee-deep in the powdery white stuff yet down here... it was patchy, allowing the stunted mountain grass peek through.
Wuffling softly, breath misting on the frozen air, he dipped his head, sniffing at the course blades. For winter feed it was decent enough, though he wasn’t hungry right then. Maybe he would stay a few days, wait out the storm that was brewing to the west, and then move on..
Making up his mind he continued on, walking slowly down the curved side of the valley, past the few tall fir trees, and towards the base where he hoped would be a stream or some kind of spring.. Though it was likely to be frozen over, he had four very hard hooves for the job.

The masked mare's delicate wings were shuddering, pressed against each other. It most certainly was cold today. Her body was warm but most of her blood flow was focused toward everything but her wings. She had sampled the grasses earlier in the day and now found herself sanding at the bank of a frozen stream.
Golden eyes peered down at the crust of ice as she lifted a hoof and brought it crashing down on the crisp surface. A web of shallow cracks erupted from the small divot her hoof created. She tossed her head, to get a lock of hair out of her face. She took a step closer to the bank and used even more weight as she attempted to break the ice yet again.
Her hoof and leg plunged into the icy water and she let out a startled neigh from the temperature of the water below. She jerked her leg up and shook it off trying to dry it in what little snow was around.
After a few moments she daintily lowered her lips to the water and began to quench her thirst.

(owo I can't get over how gorgeous they look... gold and black ftw!)
It was the startled neigh in the otherwise quiet valley that allerted the stallion to another's presence. Instantly the gold-masked head went up, ears pricked through the holes in his black velvet hat. Long cream tail flicked against his rump a moment before he continued on, now headed directly for the origin of that voice.
There.. close to a small stand of spruce trees, a dark mare stood drinking from the frozen stream. As he drew closer, he spotted the trembling lacy wings over her back. Fasinated he paused, one hoof raised in mid-stride as he watched her drink. At length, his own thirst drove him onwards. Long strides closing the distance between them.
Arriving at the oppersit bank to the mare he slowed and inched the last few paces, dipping his head to drop his muzzle into the water. The cold made him shiver but he drank slowly, until his thirst was quenched. Finally, he lifted his head, startling crimson gaze lifting to the mare as he offered her a friendly smile. "Greetings M'Lady.. I hope I have not intruded...?" His voice soft and low, polite.

(Hehehehehehe...getting ideas are we, Kai? *eyebrows waggle* LOL)
Her heavily lashed eyes raised and met the striking crimson set just across from her. She lifted her head and offered him a soft smile in return, her lips curving just so.
"And hello to you too, Sir." She said with a soft dip of her head.
She stood fully, a head or two shorter than the stallion, as was to be expected. Even for a mare she had a very delicate structure stemming mostly from her flutter lineage.
"Your presence is most certainly not an intrusion. I was getting rather...bored all by myself." She added, eyes sparkling. "I'm Alaure...might I know the name of such a handsome stallion?" She asked sweetly, trying to not look overly interested but enough to be engaging.

(X3 Hehe, but they are so preeeeeeeeetty!!! )
Polite smile warmed at her returned greeting. Leanly muscled body drawing closer a step. "Ahh, then I am most grateful. I would be disappointed if I had to leave so soon." Stunning gaze met the mare's own golden eyes, smile broadening slightly as she offered her name. "Alaure... and such an allure you possess M'Lady, it is certainly a fitting name for one so beautiful." Pausing he backed up a step before dropping into a low bow, one foreleg stretched out in front, the other folded under him gracefully.
Head low he replied. "I am known as Don Juan, it is most certainly a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Alaure." Pulling himself back upright he smiled warmly at her.

(Yes yes they are. XD
I dunno how she'd feel about a playboy though. LOL.
Could be interesting plot wise, if you were so inclined.)
Alaure smiled sheepishly and pawed the ground delicately with one hoof. "Beautiful?" She asked. "Well, thank-you, I appreciate it...really." She said seeming a little thrown off. "And coming from such a stallion as yourself, I'm truly flattered." The flutter added, her grey cheeks blushing ever so slightly under her mask.
"So, tell me, Don Juan...what is a gentleman such as yourself doing waaaaaaaaay out here, hmmm?" She asked, trying to transition into a different conversation topic.

The stallion chuckled warmly, crimson eyes kind and amused as she pawed at the ground. "And modest too, it appears?" He returned with a smile before tilting his head, ears flickering at her question.
"I am travailing. It may sound cliché but is it not the duty of a stallion to be well versed in the ways of the world?" Paused briefly, considering her. "What about yourself? You appear to be a little like myself.." Nudges his muzzle towards her mask a little, curious. "Do you live around here?"

The blush stayed on the mare's cheeks a little longer, her eyelashes fluttering a bit as she blinked slowly. "Modest?" She paused. "Well if what one believes to be the truth and the other modesty, I will do the proper thing and agree with you...modesty...it is good Sir." Her lips curved up into a polite smile as her golden eyes seemed almost enchanted with the view of the studly stallion across from her.
"Oh!" Her ears perked. "I don't believe that it's a cliche at all! I, too, am traveling to see more of the world. I've always been one to believe that it's most important to know the world, not only from your own set of eyes, but to be able to see it through many, many pairs." She chuckled slightly. "Afterall, none of us have the same life's story which shapes how we see the world."
"Variety is the spice of life, don't you think?" She asked, with a flick of her tail before continuing.
"I live quite far from here. I never knew my parents. I was brought up by my Auntie...and once she passed away, I didn't have any ties to the land and...thought I'd travel a bit." She offered the stallion a tight-lipped smile, as if it were bitter-sweet for her.
"And may I inquire of you?"
